I think the name to go with should be “Palanger” great video!

Vengeance Paladin also gets Hunter's Mark, I think.

This is based on the 2014 Player's Handbook and Xanathar's / Tasha's, right?

I like beastmaster ranger and oath of ancients paladin. At least in 2014. Fight side by side with your beast of the land, they get the benefits of your two auras, take the sentinel feat to get an attack if they target your companion. While I'd like to get to share spells, I can't unless I give up ancients best features. So paladin 8 and ranger 12.

Tortle is probably the easiest race for paladin/ranger because of the set AC, so if we add a shield we have very decent AC without having worry 1 bit about were we put our stats. For example we could take 13s in DEX and STR and focus on either CHA through devotion or shove it all into WIS with shillelagh. As such a fae wanderer devotion paladin will make a hell of a lot sense ... or at least as much as a ranger/paladin can make sense. 😅😊

On the multiclassing spell slots, there has been some debate over whether you can do the math as (paladin + ranger)/2 rounded down or have to do paladin/2 rounded down + ranger/2 rounded down. It's a key difference - the first way, a ranger 3 paladin 5 character would be a level 4 caster. The second way, they would only be level 3. If I were the DM, I'd let any player wild enough to make this combo use the nice math, but not everyone may agree.

As a concept I love the idea of playing a merger of the duo cavalry from the neo-assyrian empire (2 guys on a horse 1 driving and fighting with spear and shield and 1 doing acher things) and the mounted samurai archer giving them a hazuyari (spearbow). Since samurai were big on archery and spear (yari) was a big thing for them too and the neo-assyrians were known as archer-spearmen! This seems to me like an incredible synergistic character concept. It's just too bad that the stats are sooooo diffecult.

Cool build idea on two classes that most people never mix. Thematically/RP-wise I can see maybe an Aragorn inspired character due to being a ranger and being morally pure and holy. Or Oath of the Ancient and Fey Wanderer could be a cool "Warrior or nature" (not sure how good that would be mechanically though) A multiclass which is kinda rare I would like to see would be some form of ranger combined with cleric. They both use the same casting stat but I still dont see them mixed so that would be cool. Maybe something like like 5 levels of Gloomstalker combined with Trickery would be cool thematically? Thanks for the content anyway, its nice to hear more cool multiclass ideas.

I would have thought that this pair would be too MAD. Nice to see that I'm wrong. By the way, the correct term for the multiclass is either Rangerdin or Palader, depending on which class you pick first.

Maybe I am wrong, or we used house rules & I just didn't realize it, but if you skip the first round of the Drake doing anything & instead set up a trigger of when my PC says charge the Drake runs in a straight line towards that enemy, isn't that how to work the Drake going after the paladin, so on the following round the paladin starts their round by saying charge & the Drake then takes its Dash action, which was set up as an action on the last turn & now uses its reaction. (Additionally, if the Drake & paladin are far enough away this may be the best solution for closing the distance.)

The problem with these builds is that I never have the time to play all of them
