But if they stayed in their isreal and didn't expand isreal that would do a lot for the situation. Maybe some would still want them gone completely but that would be against international law if they tried to oust them from isrela proper. They do need to leave palestine or else live under palestinian rule. Just as irish people can go live in England but they can't take England's land and call it ireland. We were given our Republic and we have to be happy with that even though we once owned the whole of ireland. @@jake1776 I am well aware of the history, and I am of a similar opinion. That said, just because their nationhood is very, very young does not mean their identity is not heartfelt or vital to many of them. The Arabs of the region certainly had a distinct culture and dialect long before the British mandate and it is not beyond reason that they should be acknowledged as a distinct people. The fact now is that they are, on the whole, fiercely nationalistic and very numerous. Trying to rehome all of them in nearby Arab countries is neither realistic nor ethical. It should also be noted that whilst Faisal seemed to have been willing for Jews to establish a colony in that region, it was only to be done in such a way as would not totally displace the Arabs of the region. I think this Faisal agreement is pivotal to the history, and I think the Sykes-Picot agreement was a travesty and betrayal of our Arab allies (though not so mush a betrayal as the disgusting French betrayal at Damascus). However, I think it is reasonable to suggest that this area ('Palestine') was not included in the Lawrence agreement. This area was hugely neglected by the Ottomans because it is not of central importance for many Muslims (or wasn't). Faisal rightly thought that an influx of Jews would bring prosperity to this neglected region and he was right. Sadly that has also meant huge numbers of Arabs immigrated to the region too and one huge mistake which is often made is to imagine that all of those who call themselves Palestinians are descendents of the original Arab inhabitants (many are defended from much later Arab immigrants attracted by the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the prosperity brought by the British and Jewish control of the area). It is a very recent nationality, and the most absurd bit of that invention is the 'it's our land' line you hear again and again. The people seem to genuinely believe it, even when they are descended from Arab immigrants who moved to the area long after many of the Jews who lived there. It is no surprise (sadly) that those interviewed here who were friendly to Jews were the residents of Bethlehem. It is true that many 'Palestinians' are not Muslims, but I strongly suspect they (often Christians) would be better off in an Israeli state, with Israeli citizenship, than they would in a predominantly Muslim Palestinian state (not to mention anyone else Islam deems less than worthy of care and dignity).

I think you’re ignoring a really important fact here, Islam is a religion not an ethnicity or a race. Judaism is a bit of both. Palestinians are the end product of Arabs migrating to Palestine in 600s-700s AND the pre-existing Jewish and Christian people living there. That’s why Palestinians are considered indigenous, because they are also the descendants of the Jews who were in the land originally, but their families converted faiths at some point in history. Genetic and archeological/ historic records illustrate this. So Palestinians are Arab in the same way that many Israelis are European, difference is you can draw a strait line between Palestinians and the original Jewish Canaanites in Palestine, many Israelis are equally related to the original Jewish Canaanites but their families left Palestine at some point to go to other countries. Israelis are seen as occupiers not because they are Jewish, but explicitly because they occupy stolen land in the West Bank and Gaza. But they are also seen as occupiers implicitly in Israel because much of that land was lived in by Palestinians before the nekba, so I’d say that the characterization of Israelis as occupiers is legitimate and accurate. That’s not to say that Israelis (civilians) are complicit in this occupation, that’s just not the case, where else can they possibly go? It’s just unfortunate things played out that way, but in terms of history and definitions, Palestinians are indigenous due to heritage and historical localization, Israelis are occupiers due to historical events and current military action.

And that ordinary Palestinians want nothing to do with this war and are different from their leaders. But stuff like this reveals that isn't true. Palestinian leaders, like Arafat, rejected peace deals because if they accepted them the vast majority of ordinary Palestinians wouldn't accept them and they (the leaders) would probably get assassinated or loose power in some fashion. This is a bottom up problem, not a top down problem. The irony is that Palestinians speak Arabic (a language from the Arabian peninsula) and most adhere to Islam (a faith originally from the Arabian penninsula). Jews at least speak Hebrew, a language indigenous to Palestine only. The Jewish faith is indigenous to Palestine as well. Go figure. Another irony: when the Ceusaders invaded Palestine in the 11th century, Jews and Muslims fought them together. Today, Palestinian Christians seem to be more accepting of Israelis. On another note, many Palestinians acknowledge Israeli "system" as superior (social security, health insurance, nursing homes, education, etc).

Obviously there is still a palestinian majority that considers all of Israel their land, it is what they are taught all their lives. If they truly desired the 67' war territories only, they would already have their country as it was offered twice to them by two different former prime ministers of Israel in just the last 20 years. People that have no clue about the history like to whine about the poor people in the occupied territories as if it's all that mattered historically and without regard to the escalation from the arab side.

If you mean the Ehud Barak offer, no, it didn't promise even the pre-1967 borders to Palestinians. "Barak’s proposals were, in the context of Israeli politics, path-breaking and courageous. But, as Malley wrote in a New York Times op-ed that is a CliffsNotes version of his NYRB piece, “[T]he measure of Israel’s concessions ought not be how far it has moved from its own starting point; it must be how far it has moved toward a fair solution.” Which is the second PM offer?
@Crono2077 Жыл бұрын
@@husnahasanca Unfortunately the idea of a "fair solution" includes Israel self destructing which they are not inclined to do, which is a major issue for the Palestinians. The Ehud Barak offer was the Gaza strip entirely, 73 percent of the west bank immediately, and working toward upwards of over 90 percent of the west bank in a few years. Obviously this is a problem as Israel doesn't immediately put themselves at a massive security risk by withdrawing immediately from the west bank (as they did eventually from Gaza), and they don't accept a million refuges that were born in camps over decades either. Israel really should know better than to try to retain security over the desires of those that attacked them continuously. The second prime minister was Olmert, this didn't get as much publicity, apparently Abbas rejected his offers because he couldn't bring a map out of the confidential meetings, truly a good faith negotiation.
@ajrhy6243 Жыл бұрын
Or….. these videos as a whole are a pile of bullshit. While they are interesting in the fact that we are exposed to both sides’ perspective; it actually suffers from one logical error. Corey clearly edits these videos and compiles them himself. Who’s to say he didn’t decide to include other footage of other Arabs saying something else? He’s pushing his viewpoint very subtle, and that’s what should be understood here. By using these small sample sizes and compiling these clips where Palestinians are shown as ignorant or hateful; it does it’s intended goal. When you poll or ask questions, you’ll suffer however from one of two things. With a large sample size. I will suffer from little detail in responses in return for accuracy in my polling. With small sample sizes, I get more detailed responses but I sacrifice accuracy due to small sample size. I guarantee a Palestinian from the territories would speak very different about topics than a Palestinian raised in the west, or people from the Gaza Strip which obviously Corey can’t go there. But there’s clearly a narrative being pushed, and for the sake of peace im not replying to anyone after this comment. But you also have to understand that of course these people feel this way, they’ve been done wrong by their leaders and by the occupation, these are both obstacles to an average Palestinian. Now go and ask them how many family members they’ve seen killed. I’ve seen conflict even in my own neighborhood I grew up in the US with gangs. Clearly if a rival gang killed your family member or friend or parent (resulting in broken homes) you’ll hate the rival faction and live by violence. This is a matter of understanding, not agreeing. That’s very different. Understand what I’m writing here, but you can disagree. What I’m saying is, this channel has inherent bias(with sneaky tricks like editing out other voices) to encourage a narrative that Palestinians are hateful and ignorant. Suppose they all are even, then I’m not even the slightest bit surprised they think how they do because they experience death often, violence and harassment. Hurt breeds more hurt. You could never live a day in their lives. I cant. In fact, a great video that’s not giving inherent bias to any side of this debate, I believe it was titled can Israelis and Palestinians see eye to eye. It’s an interesting watch. Maybe when the killing stops, maybe when the occupation stops.. maybe we will see a change. Like I said, don’t agree with me, you don’t have to, but understand and ask well why is it these people say these things in these videos? That’s a great way of thinking critically about the conflict, and I think both sides need to ask themselves questions and soul search a bit.

In 132 AD, Emperor Hadrian decided to suppress the Jews and their religion. He sold all Jewish prisoners as slaves after the Bar Kokhba revolt, prohibited the teaching of the Torah, renamed the province Syria Palaestina, and changed the name of Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina. He renamed Israel to erase the national identity of Israel and the Jews. So if you're looking to restore Palestine to the Palestinians, you should return it to the Jews.

You can tell how brainwashed these people are if they call Palestine their country. Palestine has never been a country, but a region. The name “Palestine” is even a Roman name, Roman word for Israel’s ancient enemy the Philestines, given to replace the name of Israel to mock the Jews. After the Romans controlled the area, the Byzantine empire controlled it, then the Ottomans, then the British. It has never, not once in all of history been a country. It is, in fact, Jewish land that was stolen by the Romans, then they would ethnically cleansed out by the Muslims, and now that they’ve returned, they are constantly being attacked, regardless of recognition by over 150 nations around the world. Even Jews in the 1800-1900’s were called Palestinians because it referred to the region. The Arab Muslims didn’t have a problem when the Muslim Turks ruled the area. They didn’t protest when the Muslim Egyptians or Syrians or Jordanians controlled sections of the land. They only don’t want the Jews to live in the land that the Jews called home for 2500 years before Islam ever existed.

As long as Israel is willing to contribute to the reconstruction of Palestine, and not being selfish and imperialistic.
@dead2me827 ай бұрын
@@encryptedaviation1452 you keep saying, “the government of Palestine”. There is no government. The area is just run by Hamas, an organization that actively trains terrorists starting in elementary school (you can find videos of this on KZbin). I’m also not sure why you think Israel is being “Imperialistic”. After the Ottoman Empire fell, Great Britain owned/controlled all of these lands , including what we know today as Jordan. Originally, Israel was to get far more land than they got, including the entirety of Jordan (which wouldn’t have ever been a country). GB and the UN created a 2-state solution which the Jews accepted and the Arabs did not. So the Jews compromised and gave up all of the Jordanian land and the West Bank. The Arabs refused the offer, but the UN decided to move forward with the proposal to the Jews. The Palestinian Arabs simply said “no” to the offer for the land (that was never theirs as it was part of Rome, than the Byzantines, then the Ottomans, then Great Britain’s), and the Jews said “yes”. So Israel was formed and the Arab Palestinian people are still in this situation. The first day Israel was declared a country, the entire Arab world of the Middle East and North Africa attacked Israel in an act of genocide. Yet Israel survived and has thrived. 6 times there have been talks to try and achieve a 2-state solution and all six times, the Israelis have conceded more land and the Arabs refuse. In the early 2000’s (2005 i believe) Israel finally withdrew all people and military presence from Gaza (they were there to stop the Palestinians from bombing and attacking them) and let the Palestinians elect their own leaders…we got Hamas. This is despite those Jews having invested in that land and created some of the most beautiful and bountiful beaches and farmland in the entire Middle East (which Hamas has destroyed). In Hamas’ charter statement, they declare that they want the eradication of Jews (genocide). Israel has consistently allowed Gazans to enter their nation for work. They have offered concessions on 6 occasions of creating peace talks. Israel has the capability to carpet bomb the entire region with one swoop and wipe the Palestinians off the map due to a highly advanced Air Force and military…yet they don’t. They don’t seize lands. They were attacked on Oct.7th in one of the most heinous acts we’ve seen this century, if not the most. And in all of that, Israel has not sought to take ownership of Gaza, they have only sought to eliminate Hamas. This is not emblematic of Imperialism.

@teasilverbankster1932 Жыл бұрын
The difference is that if a Jew is claiming that about Muslims as to driving them out, it's because of Islam as a religion itself that exclusively calls for the eradication of Jews and Christians. Islam is a genocidal blood cult and is on par and if not worse then Nazism. In fact history backs me up on this claim of them being at least on par with the Nazis as they cheered on Hitler for what he was doing to the Jews. To be fair, she's basing her claim on Nationalism, not on a succession of states. Her claim to it being "Palestinian land" is the same principle that modern day poland was Polish (despite until 1918 it being divided between the German, Russian and Austro-Hungarian Empires). You don't have to have previously had a state to have the legitimacy of claiming one (otherwise, half of the states in Europe would have 0 legitimacy). I would say, on Nationalistic grounds, both Israelis and Palestinian Arabs have a valid "claim", though the palestinians in 48 had the "stronger" claim, largely due to recency. Today, with the state of Israel having existed for 75 years, it's a bit more complicated.

One of the biggest problems that many of the people in this video don't realize is that what they call Palestine has been the subject of an influx of population for centuries. The Jews have been moving there from the time of the Spanish inquisition. That is in addition to the Jews who were already present. There were many Jews from Eastern Europe who emigrated there in the late 18th century. With the emergence of Zionism, even more Jews came. When the British were in charge, many jobs became available, and that attracted many Jews and Arabs. This is a really cool project. One question I have is: Who do Palestinians think built Jerusalem/Nazareth/Bethlehem/ect? I think it would give interesting insight as to who they think some of the original founder were.
@HTH565 Жыл бұрын
Jerusalem was first founded more than 5000 years ago, way before Judaicity even existed, by a civilisation that may or may not be a common ancestor to both Jews and Palestinian. But who cares ? What matter are the people that are living now, not the ones that are long dead.

I was wondering the same thing, there is a ton of archaeological evidence of the Hebrews in Israel going back thousands of years.
@ArtificialEDM Жыл бұрын
@@FragileNM It was the Canaanites who most likely laid its first stones around 3000BC and around 1000BC the Jews took over and created the Kingdom of Israel. So the first record of Israel goes back 3000 years and Jerusalem about 6000 years. It was actually the Romans who occupied the land the longest in recorded history funny enough and they actually did expel the Jews from their homeland after a rebellion of the Jews. And funny enough this is where the name Palestine comes from as the Romans renamed the region. It means something like 'land from the expelled ones'. The Romans thought that was funny after they expelled the Jews from their homeland.

This is a great question but I wish Corey pushed them a little more. Ask: Should we expel even families with children? Millions of people? Isn't this like the Nakba? What if no country accepts them? I think the Palestinians would perpetrate a Rwandan Genocide type massacre of Israeli Jews. Remember the lynching of Israelis in Ramallah in 2000? That took place practically within sight of "moderate Palestinian spokeswoman" Hanan Ashrawi's home. And she's twice been caught peddling blood libels about Jews. Her "moderation" is of scant help to Jews. There are sadly few Arab Palestinians who think killing Israeli Jews is wrong. They decorate schools with murals of exploding Egged buses and name them after terrorists who've killed Jews. You can imagine the effect this has on children. And the Left in Israel and the West is unwilling to condemn this outrageous hate.

Within the first two minutes, it already looks like it would be a lot easier to make peace with Palestinian Christians than with the majority religious demographic. I wonder if polling would reveal that his sentiments can be extrapolated or whether the over-riding factor is the Palestinian identity rather than religion. He could be an outlier, but I have a suspicion that the religion makes it either easier or more difficult to adopt a hard-line approach. If that is right, from other videos I've seen on this channel I also think that such a finding would surprise more Jewish Israelis than it should. They are oftem very aware of the centuries of Catholic persecution in Europe, which informs a view that may not be very accurate in today's world. More awareness of what each religion's texts have to say regarding Jews would be helpful.
