Great video, with many different types of mostly tender palms. I'm Dale Ansrews, also a self-styled plant enthusiast and subscirber from Lake Charles, LA. We are about 50 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico and will freeze during the winter to a low of about 28 degrees on occasion but will generally warm to at least the 40's the following day. Two of my all time favorite palms that are somewhat cold hardy are the Phoenix canariensis and the Washingtonia spp. which grow here without a problem. I am also a container gardener who likes to grow tender tropicals and succulents. One plant of which I am particularly proud is a newly aquired "Traveler's Palm" (Ravanala Madagascariensis) which I recently aquired from a grower in south Florida. As you know, this plant is not a true palm, but belongs to the plant family ot the Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia nicolei) with long paddle shaped leaves like a banana (Musa spp.) which grow to about 3-4' in mature specimens. After I've potted it last month, it's already put out 1 new huge leaf. I better close since this is rather lenthy and keep the good videos rolling! 🪴🌴🌵

I know right where you're at. Passed it a million times. Always admired those Cocos. I looked on Google Maps and they were there as far back as December 2007! BUT, there were seven (7!) of them lined up there and you can see in the May 2011 picture that one had already been cut down and two were looking very bad, which were ultimately cut down as well. Those three Royals were also there in December 2007 as well! Thanks for shooting this! Love to see you back at it again with palms! So many great palms and tropicals in Sarasota County!

The freezes here in Sarasota county were in 09 and 10. I lost a coconut palm, bottle palms and a Christmas palm.

Great video. Thanks for into "the field" for us. I love these types of videos you make. Where in Florida are coconuts completely dependable?

CAN SOMEONE IDENTITY: At 4:30... The plant next to what 'Christian here...' is talking about. The one with the pineapple nut that's small and right beside the Coconut palm he's talking about... And there a large version that comes into view at 4:34 - 4:35 ... it's the one that light blue car could run right into..... THAT PLANT..... What is that?

The first time I ever saw Z. furfuracea in a hedge form, I had to double take. I’m not sure if it’s unique growth and form are best showcased in this application- but it sure lets you know that you’re not in Kansas anymore.
