Most of Florida - a unique ecosystem in the country - should have been left as national park. Pollutants and sewage will run from the flooded vehicles and homes into the ocean, killing more animals and seagrass. "Coastal wetlands act as nature's giant sponges, absorbing floods and wave energy from storms, improving property protection by up to 20 percent. One acre of wetlands can store as much as 1.5 million gallons of floodwater." Meanwhile these folks who could care less are driving up insurance costs for everyone else - building in canyons full of brush, in wetlands, on barrier islands. All these bloated homes with no natural environment left. And they'll just build right back, the same way, and expect Federal tax dollars to do it.
