audra, i think this might be my favorite piece you've ever done. i really like that you went into the meaning of it and the inspiration, without that i would have just thought of it as something more decorative and probably wouldn't have seen the story behind it. that being said, the craft of this piece is increddddibblllee! the color palette is really rad, it's one of my favorite combos as well. i really like the gradiation in her hair and on the elephant's trunk. anyways, i love videos when you talk about the inspiration, i think it's really great and your views on veganism are really inspiring and like, reasonable? anyways. really enjoyed this.

I love when artists explain a lot about their pieces or the inspiration behind it. I like the idea of spirits looking out for the voiceless victims of this world, it really sometimes does feel like we can't do as much as we would want. But it's all about spreading awareness and that's definitely better than the alternative!

I have been vegan for almost two years now. Every bit helps. Do not focus on the bad but rather the good. So many things take time to heal. Racism is still present but has gone down due to the voices that speak up. Before I go out to eat I get familiar with the menu or I go to a vegan restaurant. Doing research helps a bunch, there's also a vegan food app called happy cow. I'm really happy that you are open to the vegan lifestyle. If anyone wants to watch some vegan documentaries here's a few.. : Cowspiracy, Forks over knives, Earthlings, Lucent, Gary Yourofsky: The best speech you will ever hear..

I just have to comment on here as well, Audra, this is stunning! Drawing/painting portraits is fun, adding decor and detail is cool....but when there is passion and meaning behind it, you can really feel it through the work. The minute I saw it on your IG I could tell, and hearing about the inspiration here takes it to a whole other level. Lovvvve~!

This piece is so beautiful. What if you made prints of it or stuff with this on it and use the proceeds to help fund saving the Rain Forest and going towards an actual movement? Maybe we could get enough people involved to do a website and donation thing and for the different brackets of donations you could get a different item with this Guardian on it? I don't know it was just an idea, it's super beautiful and moving to me and I think you can do more, you just may need some extra help from time to time but the worst thing we can do is be silent about the things we care about.

This is so very good. My faveorite animal is the elephant such wise animals and I love how you captured it as not a skull on her head as I see many artists do but an alive elephant head with tons of color. I do agree with the wanting your palette dirty so the undertones of old paint shine through it gives a lot of great depth. I really have been enjoying your videos and artwork. It gives me alot of ideas for when i go back and have to do the grueling annoyance of small details. But the details are what ties it together and now I'm inspired. Great piece

The way I imagined the elephant is that the spirit warrior was using the skull of her fallen subject to empower and enrage her against her enemies. Since she is a spirit, maybe she is this colossal figure. I hope you don't mind me putting my own spin on it. Your art is simply beautiful and so inspiring. Thank you for being conscientious and sharing the story of this piece.

Awesome thanks for speaking out on what you care about! And chin up! Veganism is growing and talking about it like this is so important, to just have a heart to heart. Everyone should be educating themselves, even if it is painful to see because ultimately the animals are going through so much worse than us. I'm still trying to force myself to see "earthlings"... but I know I will be balling my eyes out. It's a journey for sure, but every little bit makes a difference. Thank you for the lovely video, I really admire your work!

I am so upset with this election I keep getting sick. There is a boycott for Black Lives Matter to protest holiday spending. I am going to the million women's march in DC, and a local protest tomorrow, but I feel your frustration. I am also in graduate school and working full time so I have no time to paint and breath. What makes it all worse is I am getting my PhD in political science and classes are just so painful right now. A whole bunch of graduate students trying to talk about realism vs. neoliberalism or feminist IR and they can't make it through a sentence without crying. One woman cried all the way through class while another male student had a panic attack. Even our professors have no idea what to say to us. It is like going to a funeral every week. Really love this painting and it means so much more to know why you painted it.
