Military dad surprises children with emotional homecoming

Navy Senior Chief Michael Forjan surprises his son, Gabriel, 11, a sixth-grader at Polo Park Middle School on Sept. 17, 2019. Forjan has been in Iraq since April and came home on a two-week leave. He surprised all four of his children by showing up at their schools unannounced.

I love that he isn't afraid to run up and cry while his friends watch. At least they applauded. Also this is a true hero. We need to normalize this. People are told to "Man up" and hide their emotions. Meanwhile they are the ones missing someone and waiting on a safe return. Like people crying is a normal human emotion and people don't understand that. Men and boys are allowed to cry. (Using my perspective)

There's no better feeling than being a dad, I have a 24 year old daughter and a 21 year old son and I've been married to my love/their mom for 26 years. Tears of happiness, and the reaction of a child who if he believes in God, probably prayed for his dad to come home safe, and even if he doesn’t believe in God, an immeasurable burden of worry for his dad rolled off his back as he ran to him. I can’t imagine how his dad felt when his son ran into his arms. A child’s reaction is so genuine, and that makes this video even better!

From their tears and sadness one can imagine the pain these children go through when a parent is in the army and has to go away .The magnitude of sadness they go through shows when they see them come home, only Our Father in Heaven will give them peace and encouragement ,I am happy for them but I also feel their pain ,they go to school day in day out but none of their teachers or their friends knows what they are going through. I there should be a group made for these children of someone talking to them.may God bless all these children of whom their parents are returning home Amen
