Palworld Is GREAT, But Also AWFUL! - Gameplay And First Impressions

In today's video I'm going to talk about the game that EVERYONE is talking about right now. Palworld is such a strange game, being one of the best survival games I've played in recent memory, but also being suspiciously familiar around every single corner! I get it, at the same time Pokémon has made lots of just lazy designs they don’t own the copy right to sheep or wolves. And if we do get more games that rip stuff straight from other games, as-long as the combination is new and works you’ll hear no complaints from me

Yeah that's true! Although I just think that Palworld could have been even better if they tried to steer away from Pokémon a bit more visually... But I definitely can't deny that Palworld is a lot of fun to play, works like a charm and is miles ahead of Pokémon gameplay wise!

There is this little Indie title called Pokémon Colosseum where you can do that!! Especially fun when you drink er een biertje bij.

My opinion after playing a bit over 50 hours in 7 days, it's definitely a early-access game with how barren the world feels. But as a base game which can easily be expanded upon, it's really good. So I'm definitely curious to what it's going to become.

I agree! I'm having a lot of fun with it, but you can definitely see that it's still in early access... And personally I'm just kind of bothered by the fact they didn't put more time into creating their own identity, instead of just copying other franchises...

@@MatthysFAIL well yeah, but as it’s fun I don’t really mind if they take inspiration from other franchises a bit too much. And maybe it’s the programmer in me, but if it works it works. You don’t always need to reinvent the wheel to create a fun game. Of course some of the designs are a bit too much alike to Pokémon. (Look at Anubis for example). But there’s so many Pokémon by now it’s actually pretty hard to create entirely new ideas.

palworld really goes to show people don't need or want constant "innovation" we just want a fun game to play at the end of the day. I agree with all your points in the video except the end statement. even though palworld took alot of inspiration from other titles, palworld only got as big as it did because it provided a certain kind of fun experience that the other major AAA were just not providing supply and demand afterall. if the game was just a cheap rip off and nothing more it would of been laughed out of market like endless other asset flippers that dump shovel-ware onto steam on a daily basis.

I completely agree with you! I hope my video didn't make it sound like I dislike the game because it has a lot of similarities to other games. You're right in saying that Palworld does things that fill a certain demand that triple A titles aren't filling, but I was just hoping that the game had a bit more of its own identity visually! Mechanically its a great game, I just wish the game stood out a bit more visually :)

@@MatthysFAIL oh no I did not see it that way at all, I enjoyed your video very much as I honestly had the same initial experience as you. I just disagreed with the worry that palworld would all of a sudden be the catalyst for a deluge of low effort Games that are visually similar to other games. Palworld only succeeded because of the game play loop is absolutely solid and leaves so much potential for expanding on despite the lack of visual identity at this current stage. But I can honestly understand your feelings, it's a weird feeling seeing the exception to the rules of what a fun game should be since normally in the case of less competent developers palworld would of been memed to death as a cheap rip off
