I no longer have the Panasonic camera, but you can buy lens adaptors which did this.

Thanks, the video comparison was hardly a fair fight, the Panasonic with its 4K sensor is far sharper and more vibrant than the Canon. The video was recorded on the FZ1000.

The FZ1000 is really good, mostly it performs better in every way for video than the 5D, however, I no longer use the FZ1000 and now use the GH5 which is fantastic.

Yes, you can get magnification lenses that screw on to the fixed FZ1000 lens and this allows you to improve on the shallow depth of the filed effects.

Hello John, you are right and - unfortunately I guess - your wife also has the point: You cannot really compare the two cameras, indeed. They just do not match. Personally I like the electronically venus-engine-boosted shots coming from the Lumix FZ1000 more than those coming just out of the box with the big Canon. Butttt .... Canon has trimmed its Superstar to produce mainly RAW flatties with no teeth and no edges at all - it is just all postproduction here (e.g. made for the Pro's isn't it - spending many hours more than us normal guys for a good photo. So - for us (I really believe) the FZ 1000 does the job perfectly. But don't argue with your wife (you know ...:-))

It was a very odd comparison, 2 totally different cameras, but I really wanted to see which camera produced the best image in very general, almost point-and-shoo, situations.

As much as I like the FZ1000, the lens you put on a Canon makes all the difference in the world. If you had shot these with a Canon "L" lens attached to the 5d, you'd see quite a difference in quality of photos. That said, give me the FZ1000 any day.

I shoot video with the FZ1000 and GH4 (but I must say, the FZ1000 is a much better all round camera due to the amazing lens they used...well stabilized). Also it's a light camera with slow motion and articulating screen which makes it easier to work compared to the Sony A6000 series imo (especially for vloggers or if you filming yourself interviewing someone on a tripod (focus wise).

We have reversed roles in our house. He has the Canon. The FZ takes great photos but the Canon in the right hands is outstanding. I can do most everything he can but his are always just that bit sharper and cleaner. Your shots seem to show the reverse. Maybe its the operators? Any camera is only as good as the person holding it!

The Canon 5D is a superior camera but really heavy. Canon Full Frame DSLR'S are great devices but really heavy. I live in the USA, a brit from Canterbury, Kent originally and had 3 SLR'S last year now have the FZ1000. In the right hands with the right knowledge, in Photography, this device produces great pictures. Still can't compare it to the Mkiii...that's like comparing an Aston Martin DB10 to a Ford Mustang GT, build quality is totally different.

Hi John, love your humo(u)r. I wish you'd done some of the vlogging shots with the 5D. What you did shoot, I didn't see a noticeable difference between the two. I'm selling my EOS M6; it's woefully inadequate w/o an EVF. I'd narrowed things down to a Fuji XT-2 and then... thought - again about the FZ series. I'm disappointed the 1000 doesn't have a fixed f/2.8 lens. One of 'em does. I think it's the FZ350. I'll be checkin' that too. For simple vlogging, I'd say your FZ is even better than others' a6500s! I watched at 1080p and your beard looks quite prickly.

I loved the FZ100 and the FZ200 but I saved up and now have the GH5 which is totally brilliant. The Lumix cameras and Leica lenses are a brilliant combination. The 5D is too heavy and clunky to vlog with, setting focus before you press record and then not being able to adjust things is pointless when you're moving around in shot.

If you really need a constant f2.8 aperture then I would recommend the Sony RX10 series 👍🏻

Ive an fz82 and my fz1000 is far superior. Ive also got a nikon d7200 dslr. While the d7200 takes slightly better shots. Its far to big and heavy with its lenses to cart around especially on holidays. So yes. Value for money, picture quality, price and ease of use the FZ1000 is a brilliant do it all camera. Highly recommended
