I have only had my new FZ1000 for a couple of days and using your tutorials, I’m so thrilled with my new camera. @@frederickorcutt9112 yes! I absolutely loved the camera. It was perfect for me. The right next step from a point and shoot. Your tutorials w really gave me the max use of the camera, we had lots of fog at the glacier. I got shots of mountain goats and Dall sheep on the mountain tops and even got a photo of our cruise ship 6.9 miles (11.1 km) away from the White Pass & Yukon railway. This summer I’m going to the Isle of Man and Portugal. Beautiful places to take pictures of in both places. Just bought a great new camera bag with room for my guide book, snacks, water bottle and snacks.

Excellent Graham, I often use iA mode especially if I am in somewhere with poor lighting, like a museum, it does a great job most of the time,and then when back in good lighting switch back to A mode.saves me having to mess with iso,and the program seems to make a better job of it than I could!

You would need a decent DSLR with a prime lens 1.4 aperture to get any blur with no zoom..

Firstly thanks for these videos. Just bought an FZ1000 & a little overwhelmed, so looking forward to working through the series. Question on this one re focusing. I don't seem to have any option to manually select the focus point as you show here in AI+ mode. Left cursor brings up a focus window but it can't be moved. Is it reliant on another setting buried in the menu?

Thanks for your video, very helpful. I am a novice camera user and recently purchased the FZ1000. Unfortunately I have unknowingly done something to the settings that seems to have disabled the shutter. Also, when I do press the shutter release button an orangish-red light comes on, on the front right side of the camera body adjacent to the lens barrel. I have an FZ1000M2. Looking for help. No matter what mode PASM or auto I can not adjust ISO. In auto it changes automatically to adjust to the photo being taken. The ISO button and neither of the dials will allow me to adjust ISO. The up button which would also be ISO does work but only for Up. Suggestions welcomed.

There are browser extensions that allow you to change your viewing speed for each video. On Firefox, I use Enhancer for KZbin. Graham speaks quickkly, but other presenters speak v e r y s l o w l y, and I can easily select the speed I like, and change it at different points in each video.

Hi Graham, great video my question is I use a polarizing filter on my FZ1000 but am unable to use the lens hood because of the polarizing filter. Do you have a work around? Quite a few people have asked how to get the focus area as shown at the end of this video. Here's the sequence to do that. 1. from the normal shooting display press the back control wheel in twice until you see the exposure meters. 2. rotate the back control wheel either direction by 1 click 3. press the shutter button halfway down now when you press the left navigation button you can move the focus square. to cancel this mode and return to face tracking. 1. from the normal shooting display press the back control wheel in twice until you see the exposure meters. 2. press the Fn4 button

I just purchased a used fz100 and to my surprise it came in another language so how to I change the language to English ?

Graham, I would have thought that in landscape mode the camera would stop down. Instead, it is wide open with a fairly low ISO. If I were to do the settings for a landscape shot, I would go to f16, fire up anti shake, up the ISO until I got a shutter speed where I could hold the camera steady, and take the shot. The camera's settings at this point dont make sense to me. Am I missing something?

There is no f16 on this camera but because of the cropped sensor f2.8 is equivalent to a full size sensor f8

Graham, Need some help! I have been using Lightroom since version 4 and have updated thru the years to 6.14. I purchased a new computer and reinstalled 6.14 and the program doesn't read my RAW files from my new Lumix FZ1000 Mk2. It read my old Lumix RAW files, and my Lumix GX85 raw files, but not any new ones. Could you help me with this problem, or send me to a source that could? Many-many thanks, David

Hello David, my FZ1000 II is away for repair so I can't verify this but I think that Adobe posted a remark saying 6.14 would not be updated------(found it!) Please note, there will be no additional updates after 6.14 for the perpetual, standalone version of Lightroom. You can check out this blog post for more information when this was announced earlier. As always, new cameras are supported for legacy versions of Lightroom, Photoshop, Bridge, After Effects, and Photoshop Elements through the free Adobe DNG Converter.
