Haha, I've been contemplating between GH5 and G9... I just can't decide if I need any of the high end features on the GH5 video. The big upside is if you use a gimbal, the GH5 has big support for camera controls directly through the gimbals, as well as automatic balance adjustment given a few lenses. On the other hand, how hard is to just press the record button on the camera and forget about gimbal support xD

I was testing the HLG mode and comparing it to my S1, and they were nearly indistinguishable, aside from each lens I used having different contrast and all that junk.

Theres a hack on youtube from 2018. This worked with all other G bodies. Doesnt matter what firmware its on.

The adjustment to auto exposures is brilliant, and the lighting on the top LCD really did need fixing. That six-second thing was very annoying. Thanks for this overview!

Thanks for the video! From your video it seems like they didn't include 24fps 10 bit in 1080p at 100 mb/s! The closest being 25fps.. a slight bummer but I guess you can just use the 4k 24fps 10 bit!

they have it at 60 fps in 1080p thugh. I guess they will add 1080p 24 soon aswell

Frozn Fire yeah like I said In my video it’s weird to leave out but at least you have 24p in 4K.. but that’s at 150mbs rather than 100 mbs and when you’re doing long interviews, the 1/3 of space you can save is actually worth it depending on the client and needs lol..

good review. Sadly, no removal of time limits. I guess this will never happen, keeps the GH series alive. Interesting to see if the next camera will be GH6 and G10 (or 11) or one combining best of both. Supposedly sony has a 41mp mft sensor coming - i guess we'll see.

I was wondering if you could tell me if the new added functions near & far autofocus are working also in video or just in the photo-modes... I tried them now and it seems to be working for video also... although "near" isn't as responsive as "far" option. Far option seems to be flawless, it ignores anything entering the frame. "Near" takes anywhere from 3 to 10 second to react.

Earl Marasigan No. Not the US version at least. You’ll need to shoot at 4K then downscale to 1080p.

Thanks for review. Great work. What about time limits when recording 4k 10bit? Can we chose system from PAL to NTSC or CINEMA in menu? I see you have 24fps in MOV. Is it real 24.000 fps or 23.976? Does 3840x 2160 is a maxium resolution? Is it possible record a real 4k - 4096x 2160 in 24 fps?

There is 29:59 limit for 422 10bit @30/25/24. 24p is actually 23.976 once i checked files on my PC. No to 4096x2160.

@@Camerahoarders Thanks for your re-assurance - I went ahead and upgraded. I find some features more useful than others for my usage patterns. The video capabilities are great. I can now use VFR to do higher bitrate slow motion (6x in FHD) compared to the other method which gave me 20Mbps MP4. I can't wait to try out the 4K, 30fps with 10-bit color (4:2:0/10 bit), when I get the software to support it. My current video editing software does not handle 10-bit color. Ditto interest to experiment with HLG. Continuous Autofocus Mode2 is handy. I enjoy your channel which provides excellent information.

Refresh your browser (ctrl+F5). For some reason it does not reload properly by itself, a lot of people reported that issue.

This is still not a great alternative to GH5. GH5 offers 4K, not UHD, 400 Mbps. 150 Mbps for UHD is simply too low. It's 16:1 compression.

There's a new version but be aware that it seems to crash on some Android versions. Not good on S9+ with Android 9 and November update.
