I remember the time when the simplest DSLR was an impossible dream for many amateur photographers. Now we live in a wonderful time when such an amazing tool as the D50 can be bought for lunch at McDonald's. I own two D50s and will probably buy more🤣 They will never make them like this again.

Great review! I'm hella stoked, just picked up a new one for $619. I mainly do night photography and my 6D is still performing like a champ. But like many of us, one camera is never enough lol. The 6D only gets used at night. For other things, I either use the M50 because it's so small or I'll use the old 60D. I've been finding myself using the 60D less and less. My old Samsung NX1000 just took a dump and I'd figured I'd replace it with another crop sensor mirrorless. The RP just seems like such a great value. I think the 60D is going on the museum shelf, next to the original Digital Rebel and other retired cameras. At this price point, even being 6 years old, it's a bargain for what you get. Thanks again for the video.

I researched this camera for ages when I was thinking of getting into video a few years ago only to buy it and discover it was the exact opposite of what I wanted, what a doofus. I quite like it for stills though

The DJI pocket 1 is nothing special today. When it came out, it was awesome innovation that other companies copied, and improved upon. That original little camera was a game change.

Outstanding review! I still have both, the 4 Silver I take whilst biking and the 4 Black -which is mounted in my Karma Drone- that is flying again after a $75 update in a workshop here in Costa Rica! However, the Hero 7 black which also mounts in the Karma Drone does the job as well!

I literally ordered this camera in 2025. Thank you for this review. I don’t need this camera for video making. I want to learn how to take good photos. And I think I made a good choice 👍🏻

Hey i've discovered that too! Canon ef 40mm f2.8 is making a soft picture that looks like it's shot with a glimmerglass filter, but it's just a lens by it's own. Check this lens for video too, it's fantastic

Love m4/3. Bought a pen e-p3 new in 2012 and still use it, my wife has a e-pm1. Bought a g1 and e-pl1 for 60 euros each including kit lenses for my kids (12&14) this xmas. Was so happy with the g1 (evf & rotating screen) that i bought a g3 as a backup camera for myself for another 60 euros incl. kit lense. Gonna use it with vintage and fixed zoom lenses...

Completely agree. It's not a considerable upgrade from the kit lens but for lending out my B camera, or even C camera, this lens excels for what it is.

Friends! Happy 2025 to all! I bought myself a gift in 2025, Canon EOS RP firmware 1.6.2. The camera is super even now. The price quality is the best on the market. I can install Soviet optics through an adapter. Industar, Helios for interesting shots with beautiful blur

I use this as my carry around camera in a sling bag with a Canon RF 24-105 f/4 lens on it and another RF 50mm f/1.8 in the bag, along with a few extra batteries. I use it for street photography and, which although that is not my genre of photography, I enjoy it and occasionally make a good image. I've never had to change batteries, the battery, while small, lasts a long time so that's no concern to me. The colors and quality of images are excellent. My pro work consists of graduating seniors, models, headshots, portraits, and events. I could use the RP for all of those, but I typically use a Canon R or R6MKII for my other work. I've printed 16x20 images from the RP and they look fine, even when shot at very high ISOs. I've been using an RP for a couple of years now as a street camera and I love it. I've owned and shot with a couple of rangefinder cameras, and only the one lens it comes with, and did not like them at all. I missed some great shots because I couldn't change lenses. So, a one lens camera, even for street photography is not for me. I'm a photographer and have never used, nor care to use, the video aspect of my RP. I shoot stills. And it has the Canon color science built into it, which means little to no work in camera raw or photoshop. I like that. Oh, and I do have the extender grip on it because it feels good in my hands with the grip.

I traveled around the world with a D50 back in my 20's and at the time I always lusted over the D300 and D700, but I got some super awesome pics with that D50! I eventually upgraded to the D7000 and about a year later all my gear was stolen, including my beloved D50. I then just used a Canon G16 for years. Flash forward to now, its 2024 and I just bought a D300s body and a few Primes for super cheap to relive some of that passion I had for photography again. I plan to find a D50 as well for nostalgia sake.

The GH4 is dope if you have it on a tripod or are doing manual focusing.. Interviews etc. I think it works awesomely. Saving up for a GH7 but I do not have a problem with the GH4 at all.

Mode III + Hi-1 range Large Jpeg, Fine, Optimal, High NR, +2 Sharpness. Mode III corrects for the colorshift. Sharpness +2 corrects High NR. HI-1, RAW and Mode I are unusable. Mode III activates the 2nd RGB Green layer. These settings should make ISO 3200 look like ISO 800-1600. An f/1.8 lens is recommended. Primes 20mm f/1.8, 35mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.8, 85mm f/1.8 Nikon D series primes. Sharper, faster AF, lighter, with aperture controls and cheaper. Zooms Sigma 18-35mm f/1.7 & 50-100mm f/1.7 These zooms replace Nikon's full frame 24-70, and 70-200 f/2.8 by being faster (3.7x more light) with the same DOF as a full frame equivalent. The near 4x in light outweighs the small loss in range. Just assume you have ISO 6400 if you use f/1.4 or f/1.8 glass. D200 > D300 D200 < D300s

I stuck to CCD Leica sensor cameras for years because of the organic look of the photos. Recently I purchased a Leica M8, a camera I used and loved in the past before selling it when I purchased an M9 Monochrom. I sold the M9 Monochrom when I purchased a Leica Q2M (which I absolutely love). I missed the M8 and loving having it back. I recently put in an order for a Nikon D200 and can’t wait to start using it. At a fraction of the cost of a Leica M8, I’m feeling very excited about it. The portraits I’ve seen on social media done with the D200 seem to have the same organic look I love in my M8 photos. I call it the sweet spot between digital and film photography. I trust I won’t be disappointed. 🙏🏽

Hi there! Great review, well done Video. I ask myself if you know the Olympus XZ-1 which it has also a 10 MP CCD sensor and many channels review it as a great Camera, just as the Nikon D200. I never had a dslr camera, mirrorless camera yes. How can I have the feel of what I see is what I get using the Nikon D200 since I am very used to mirrorless camera and I know how the pictures will be due I saw them before pressing the shutter speed. This is the only thing that worries me about DSLR Cameras, that is why, it will be so nice if you explain me how to get those pictures as the ones you showed in here if the camera is not a WYSIWYG camera or...what you see is what you get. This D200 seems to me eventually more atractive as the XZ-1 even is I already know that the lens built in the Olympus is great one that has an apperture of f.1.8 and of course, M.ZUIKO quality lens. That is why I asked you if maybe you can preview the XZ-1 and compare these two great CCD sensors of these 2 cameras. Thank you so much for your work. Many greetings from Germany, Alfredo.
