The canon rp was great for the price, even when it first released, $1000 for a full frame camera was unheard back then. The problem I saw was that canon released this budget camera and at the time canon only had top of the line L series lenses. You could have adapted ef lenses but I think most people didn’t like the idea of buying lenses to inevitably replace down the line.

I think it’s still a brilliant camera, it’s just a no nonsense camera, the fact it has lack of pro level feature makes you want to get creative. Great for street photography and travel l, great vid mate 👍🏻

My only issue with it the the sneaky battery indicator, it feels like it goes from 50% to REPLACE BATTERY really fast.

I only use it for photography and its amazing! I bought it second hand, and at this price, full frame camera, mirrorless, I mean, it's hard to beat. I'm getting amazing pictures out of it personally, and it's my first "serious" gear.

I like this guy! This is how I feel about camera specs, too! People have a right to their opinions, but dont try to spoil it for those guys who might just want to try it for themselves. Like you said, "This is OUR CAMERA!" Let the haters follow the other followers buying only according to camera specs. Meanwhile, our images will continue to come out just as clean and beautiful as on their big, expensive R5's, R6's, etc..

I still haven't found a camera I preferred more than the NX10. There was some weird banding if you really, really pushed the RAW files though. Maybe that was a Lightroom compatibility issue though.

Great comparison of forgotton classic cameras :) Currently i own both and what i feel, in image quality or character both are just identical. real differences came from weight and finder size (ill exclude any technical stuffs cause you cover it up pretty extensively). if you prefer lightweight go with E500, if you prefer more build quality and much bigger finder go with E300.

I suspect many viewers will look at your sample images and wonder what all the fuss is about. Truth is that (no matter how impressive your images truly are) it's impossible for you to convey color quality to us through KZbin and its insane compression, let alone the quality (or lack thereof) of the monitors we are using to view this video. Those samples cannot be appreciated over KZbin. It's not your fault. But, it is reality, nevertheless.

I've had two D200s and two D300s and gave them all away since 2021 because (compared to modern Nikons) the controls on the back are just plain clumsy and they slow you down if you're using these models for commercial work. Don't get me wrong. Both the D200 and D300 were fun to shoot after a shoot with a D810 or D500, which are both much more elegant from a controls perspective. That's why I kept those older cameras for so many years. I'll further endorse the hefty/rock-solid construction of the D200 and D300. But, let's not overlook their faults or shortcomings when compared to modern Nikons when used in commercial applications. There's a reason why Nikon changed the ergonomics after those models. I would choose a D810 or even a D7100 for a wedding over a D200 or D300 every time because these newer models simply speed up workflow in a production setting. I regret having not kept at least one D300. It's fun to drive in the same sense as it is fun to drive a 1965 Pontiac GTO with no power steering, no A/C, no rear-window defroster and a radio with a telescoping antenna that you can only raise/lower by getting out of the car. But, the GTO is no fun to drive to/from work in the dead of winter. Let's not overlook that flaw for the sake of nostalgia. I genuinely APPLAUD this video. Please don't misconstrue this comment as being hostile to your effort. You're also not alone in raving about the Nikons of the middle oughts. But, I lived through film. I lived through early DSLRs. And I remember most of the flaws I wished Nikon would fix in their next models. And, they did. As such, my opinion is that there should be balance in videos wildly praising the old models. Despite how good an image they could make, the truth is that they were/are clumsy. They were NOT amateur models. They were targeted to working professionals (witness their prices). Working pros do not want "clumsy". Nor, did they want "clumsy" twenty years ago. Fact remains, the D200 was clumsy to use on a shoot-for-hire compared to just about any model after the D300.

Why does people always talk negatively from the tilting waist level viewfinder screen? It is the second best screen hinge design, after the Fuji's X-T2 design, that adds a tilt to the right toward grip in 45 degree angle, so you can shoot vertically high and low properly. Every side articulating display is horrible by design. It has far more negative and compromising features for the general photography, that is > 90% of the time, than it has to offer that one of thousand benefits to be taking a selfie! If someone is serious about vlogging, then they should know that they need to put camera 4-5 meters from their face. At that moment you can't see a thing in that tiny 3" screen. And if you are smart one, you use wifi connection to your smartphone that allows you to have then all the video recording and exposure settings on your palm, when you are front of the camera. So you will see your position in frame, adjust the focus, set the exposure, start/stop the recording. Without ever walking to the camera, or trying to look tiny 3" screen past 2 meters, and be looking the side screen that distract viewer from eye contact. The tilting screen does exactly what the photographer requires, and wifi connection does everything that vlogger requires. And those who are for selfies by handhelding the camera at arms length? The whole purpose of the "selfie" is the unknown result from the photo by estimating the framing by lens direction, snapping the shot and then waiting film to develop to see the results what you got... Idea was never for seeing it before you take the shot and frame it perfectly, but the spontaneous and randomness in the result. That is even on smartphones the problem, don't use the frontal camera, use the rear camera. You don't see what the screen show, but you will get far better results when everyone look the camera, you have randomness in it and all. The side articulating screen is heritage from the late 90's when the LCD's were so bad that you didn't see proper exposure, you didn't see correctly it in sunlight, you needed to look it from proper angle, they were very vulnerable to damage as they were soft on surface, they were tiny 1", low resolution and you really couldn't do much with them than adjust settings. So Canon came up with the idea to protect the LCD when on the go, and adjust the tilt. Back then it was too expensive to have so nice hinges as tilting screens have today, so the hinges were huge plastic/metal ones with thick wires inside to get it working. It was better than fixed screen, but when tilting screen design came, it has been superior to that.

Excellent video , as always. These old cameras are good enough for amateur/prosumer photography and the NX cameras that I have ( NX20 and NX3000 ) are such easy to carry and so adaptable and because they are so slim you can use them easily for street photography. The only downside is that NX lenses are expensive and some of them quite rare. Still, when a lot of people will ditch this mount, I will wait for the bargains ;)

I found the RP to have HANDS DOWN more pleasing color and SOOC image quality than my R5 - looked like something between the DSLR and mirrorless feel. A serious gem and probably my favorite Canon camera of the mirrorless era. Praying Canon brings back old school color science and tonality with the new R5 II

My Piece of thought of on RP is that if yopu're an event shooters, avoid this camera. you will be better off with a much newer apsc mirrorless camera. the Autofoucs is slow, features are way limted, buttons and dials arent great and the body grip is really small and not deep enough ( mind you, i have small hands ). Eos R is a better option if you are okay with used cameras

You`re compairing the original a7 with this in the end of your video. In opinion the A7 is the way better buy if you have to start from scratch. The A7 is much smaller, lighter, has almost double the resolution, better iso performance, way better video integration and last but not least a modern high quality lens collection. O, yeah and it`s still relevant now and in the future while the 5d2 is already obsolete even if some people call it a classic.

Magic lantern on the 5d Mark 2 really helps a lot due to lack of autofocus. Even if you don’t activate magic lantern raw video there are features like focus peaking and digic peaking that enables better manual focus even on bright days out doors. I’ve found these features very helpful without being buggy or negatively affecting the footage.
