Yes. (and before you ask; yes I also tested it with my personal collection of lenses - the results from which may or may not make it into a video of their own depending on how good I ma at getting through various other stuff I've on my to-do list)

Great review! Nice to see the first sample videos (to my knowledge) from the camera as well. I just hope the twin lens kit (DMC-GM1W with grip and 20mm 1.7) is available in Ireland!
@BluntyTV11 жыл бұрын
That's only for the mechanical curtain shutter, it compensates with an electronic shutter which ramps right up to 1/16,000 so really a non issue, and anyone -deathly- concerned about the chance of getting some slight skew from rolling shutter won't be using a camera like this, or will know how to avoid or correct for it anyway.

How does the kit lens compare to the old Panasonic 14-45? That was one of the best kit lenses out that they unfortunately replaced with the 14-42.
@beaker197711 жыл бұрын
Very impressive. That would be fantastic to see results from other lenses. I'm thinking Olympus 45mm might work well with the GM1 body size-wise if lack of image stabilisation isn't a deal breaker... but I know you're a busy guy! Thanks again for the video. I'm already sold on this little camera but I'd love to see more!

Would you say this is in the same league of the Olympus EP 5? I know it's different brands and such, but I was planning on getting the Olympus one until my eye caught your review! Rather undecided, I'm not that fussed about the size, I just want great quality pictures, shouldn't be too heavy (like a DSLR) and well... that's actually it. Oh, it shouldn't feel too shabby or cheap either! Thanks Blunty, hope I'm not boring you away with all my questions.

i saw in another vid that the hotshoe would prove problematic if you were using most flashes as it would be larger than the camera itself. also, it only has a 1/50th flash sync (i think). nice if there was a way to clip on an OVF with magnets or a slot of some kind though.

For me having a viewfinder is a necessity. I hope someday they'll release a model with a viewfinder similar to the one in LF1, in a body not much bigger than GM1. Like a little bro to GX7, that'll be perfect. Panasonic is finally on the right path with GX7 now GM1. Have you seen a pic of the new 35-100? It's also tiny. Irresistible.

Do you happen to know if it's somehow possible to manual focus when attaching the tiny 12-32mm on an Olympus body? From my understanding the Olympus bodies aren't ready for it without a firmware update...

The brand on the shirt isn't matched with the gear being discussed in many of his digidirect videos. My guess he either does it on purpose for mild amusement, or he has to wear whichever shirt they give him.

You're right about the teleprompter thing - the really nice thing about your reviews is the completely natural way you come over without seeming stilted at all. Even the fluffs are fine because it comes over as a private conversation with the viewer - a lot of professionals might envy that. Good review too of course. I like my GM1 and I'm not even a wimmin. Lots of those girls now into serious photography [that is as opposed to snappers of every gender - geez this sexism thing is a minefield] and you may be right about the handbag thing, not that there's anything wrong with men having handbags [geez this homophobia thing can be a minefield].

How is the battery life ? Is 1/500 of a second as the max physical shutter speed acceptable? Answer please. thx
@ChrisWilliams-rc9ic10 жыл бұрын
Đorđe Gajanin Hi Dorde I'm afraid battery life is pretty poor - rated I think CIPA 220 shots, something like that. You can get more than that out of it dependent on use and the timeframe you exhaust the battery in - shooting constantly at a gig [without flash of course], I got comfortably in excess of that, but that batteries are extremely small and you are of course using the LCD constantly to frame shots. So I would say a spare or two is essential. I'm not certain what the maximum physical shutter speed is - I don't have the camera with me [I'm carrying larger cameras today]. I know the electronic shutter goes up to a staggering 1/1600th of a second [twice as fast as top end mechanical shutter cemeras whilst my GH3 tops out at the more usual and more modest 1/4000. There are shooting situations where you don't want electronic shutter [objects moving across the frame will give the rolling shutter effect], but most of the time it's OK and is also of course completely silent if you want it to be. If I were looking to buy now though I'd probably be looking at the GM5. [What happened to the other three? And why jump to 5? I know Panasonic like to avoid certain numbers, but this seems completely random.

I have a GH4 to photograph family events. I always use autofocus. The 12-32mm 3.5 Lens seems great because it makes the outfit so portable. Can I use the GH4 screen to touch-focus this lens? I see you have the 12 - 35 mm 2.8. Is it really worth the extra $650?

I wanted to say some things. But you blunty summed all of them up in the conclusion. I think the the Gm1 is a great achievement but no great tool. The GX7 is a far better tool in my opinion.
