Hello Graham, thanks for the work on the videos. You can rarely find tutorials and reviews about Bridge Cameras, which are still affordable. I'm a fan of Lumix cameras, including the FZ300. Therefore, I would be interested in a direct comparison regarding the JPG photo quality. The FZ82 has a sensor with higher resolution. Is that noticeable? Furthermore, should the stabilizer of the FZ82 be worse than the FZ300? I'm interested in a direct comparison with 4K video. There is then only the optical stabilizer.

Graham: Yeah, I do a little nature photography, but I'm wondering if you have any tutorials that would help with something real specific. I play in a band, and with 35mm work, it was always good to be on ISO 800+ film speeds (low light, stage lighting, weird lighting in general that's constantly changing with the operator). We snagged the FZ80 to be an entry point into digital, and getting things set up right for either band portraits (green screen/chroma key), or "action" stuff in live shows -- that's where we're at. Got anything interesting for that scenario on this camera? Yeah -- sharp images, some multi-image bursts, etc. Good news -- long telephoto not needed. Pretty up-close and personal. Not always tripod based though ... Thanks!

Great macro shot at the end ! I hope I can purchase the FZ82 next month, had the FZ72 before. Do you just attach the Raynox without any adapter ? I'm planning of purchasing some lenses the month after, like Raynox 150 or 250, a 720nm IR, polarized, and maybe NDs.
@GrahamHoughton126 жыл бұрын
the Raynox is attached using its own clip on adaptor. The Raynox 250 is perhaps too strong giving too shallow DOF and that would need focus stacking to be of any use. The 720IR would not work as the IR blocking filter in the camera would mean you wouldn't see any image at all. ND's are really useful though

@ernesthemingwayrocks97326 жыл бұрын
Graham, I’ve found that the nd filters affect the cameras ability to focus properly. Have you ran into that problem?
@GrahamHoughton126 жыл бұрын
It depends upon the filter strength. Using up to ND8 in daylight shouldn't be an issue. The solution is to focus with the filter off in manual focus mode and then put the filter in place. This has to be done with the ND200 and ND1000 filters as they block too much light for the camera to focus

Hey Graham! Your videos have been helping me a lot! I'm a surf coach and I just bought a Lumix FZ82. I use it to record surf from land and also to take photos to advertise my work and student surfers. I wanted to send you a private message or an e.mail but didn't know how to. Anyway, I'm trying to explore my 4k options but i'm finding hard to shot it single frame instead of in sequence and I can't find that option. What I find is that if I want to use 4k photo it always records a mp4 file on the card with all the sequence instead of a single photo. How can I get my single photo in 4k? One more question, I use a lot of instagram advertising and I was wondering if it is easy to post a 4k photo in it? Thanks a lot keep up the good work.
@GrahamHoughton125 жыл бұрын
Actually, 4K is a video mode in which Panasonic have introduced the concept of extracting a single frame from the 4K captured sequence. This can be done in-camera or afterwards in a video editing program. Looks like this might be a good topic to make a tutorial on and add it to the playlist for this camera. I'll do that ASAP for you.

Graham what do you think of the Panasonic G7 as a replacement for the fz82? Thinking of upgrading . Thanks
@GrahamHoughton125 жыл бұрын
Image quality wise, far superior. The only problem is the need for a couple of lenses to cover the zoom range. A good starter lens is the 14-140 giving 28-280mm effective focal length and if you really need the longer zoom then the 75-300mm giving 150 -600mm EFL. Personal preference though I would seriously look at the Canon EOS M50
@matthewbugeja45585 жыл бұрын
Graham Houghton thank you for your reply. I saw some reviews of the M50 and a lot of people commented that the M50 has better autofocus than the G7 (particularly when recording video). Will definitely keep it mind. Do you think video quality wise the M50 is better than the G7? Thanks
@GrahamHoughton125 жыл бұрын
@@matthewbugeja4558 The M50 uses quite a big crop from the sensor if you shoot 4k so if you want wide angle shots you need to use the 11-22mm lens which becomes around 28mm. 1080p doesn't have the same crop and can use the dual pixel AF which is excellent. The G7 crop in as much but the image stabilisation and AF aren't quite as good.

I'm a little confused about why you have the setting on P (Program) as seen in the video you show, when the discussion is about A (Aperture Priority). Did I miss something?
@GrahamHoughton126 жыл бұрын
Because of the very restricted aperture range ( essentially f3.5 to f5.9) when the camera is used with any zoom setting applied the use of aperture to control depth of field becomes pointless. If you use smaller than f5.9 the lens becomes slightly softer due to the physics of light called diffraction and so this adds to the issues of degraded image quality. I suggest using P mode as this will automatically select the aperture that is most likely to yield better, sharper images. It's the same with the manual mode - it has little benefit over P mode for exactly the same reason.
@virginiarivers67166 жыл бұрын
Okay, I remember you mentioning that now. Thanks so much. I'm trying to take notes on what you say, so (yes) I did miss that one. A great series and I'm learning so much!
