Panasonic Lumix G100 Review WARNING

I use this as a micro light setup for street photography with leica 15mm or 9mm f1.7 and it's fantastic. So light and works well. Eso if you stick to B&W photos and don't mind noise for that "film" look in monochrome.

You knew how the AF would perform before you bought it in AF-C, right? With Panasonic M43 cameras, you need to set the AF-S point and NOT let it use AF--C in video for absolute best results. Also, don't lean forward and backward too much (but it'll still look organic). This camera isn't really too much of a 4k camera and it performs better in 1080p, which is good enough for 99% of KZbin.

@@GaryJahman You need to turn off "Continuous AF" in the video section. You hit focus, then it doesn't move for the duration of the video.

The reason to get a small system camera like this is because you can change the lenses. Stick the 15mm 1.7 or the 42.5 1.7 and you have the ability to take incredible photos, far superior to any phone. The bundled lens can do an OK job but without different lenses you would be better off getting a point and shoot like the lx100.

Way too hard on this camera ... for the price point and what it offers you can't go wrong . Just use lenses with built in stabilization if you are worried about lack of .... such as the kit 12-32mm lens it comes in.

The price is ok if you get just a body and get a fast lens. Any lens slower than f/2.8 will probably have trouble finding light.

Mine crashed after 6 months. The camera shutter button is malfunctioning so that when you press the photo shutter button, the camera records VIDEO instead of a still photograph.

No. It does not work for still. G100 has only digital stabilization which is only for video.

You know what I agree. If you buy a camera today to shoot normal 25 mm wide, then you can probably stick to a phone. My s23 ultra will destroy basically any camera at 24 mm especially with the Gcam port I use. I'm not joking, I tested it against a sony a74... and the samsung is quite comparable, much more convenient and in some ways even better using a gcam port, not the native camera app.

I had the Lumix GX9, beautiful camera, decent photos with nice jpeg, but the video was a disappointment both in autofocus and quality. Upgraded to Sony 6400, so better results even though it’s an ugly camera to my eyes but… it does the job

Your assumption is the G100 has the same video AF as the GX9. Your assumption is incorrect - it's quite a bit better. Anyway, the story has a happy ending because the A6400's AF is great.

Good review definitely not for vlogger’s on the move the lack of focus, and image stability while moving are no where near the quality of an iPhone 13. However the Cine setting showed good video quality at the 25fps for a decent on the move content maker not looking for true 4k but a more traditional cinematic quality. How big where the video files?

Only benefit to the Iphone is 10 bit video and autofocus aside from that it is worse because its a tiny little sensor a micro 4/3 sensor will blow a iphone out no matter what its a larger sensor its just how things work, larger sensors are always better.
