Lumix also let me know that they have licensed ARRI LogC3, and via a paid upgrade, you will be able to capture the log profile inside the GH7. It will be super interesting to see how this effect colours and out of camera image when I get to test it.

@@bedenegative6450arrilog is not available when shooting prores raw. i also am curious about the implementation of arrilog. there are some interviews with the lumix fellas themselves, and it does SEEM like the sensor is mapped straight to match the arri tone curve and color profile, so it should NOT be the same as vlog to arrilog. hahaha BUT WHO KNOWS. they talk about this feature and show nothing..... like come on, why is the product release video for such a technically rich camera not explaining anything about the new technical features.

A KZbin content creator I used to be subscribed to said, "Lumix is dead", in a response to the S9. The GH7 makes it clear that Lumix is far from dead, and most likely will be around for a long time to come. Personally, I'm blown away by the features of the GH7. It might be the camera that makes me switch "back" to Lumix. Great video. I always look forward to your take on cameras.

I do love the GH series. I’ve pretty much built my whole career off of them and owned the 4,5,5s and 6. Now have a C70 as well but still frequently use the gh6 for loads of jobs

Would be good to clarify that with 32bit float you do not have to care about audio levels, you still very much DO have to care about microphone placement.

1, Love 32-bit support (24-bit and the constant need to keep an eye on audio levels during shooting is the only thing I HATE in my S5 II compared to my, yes, iPhone 14PM and my Rode Wireless Pro mikes). I REALLY hope 32-bit FP is backported to older cameras like the S5 II; I hate supervising audio and the terrible quality of the sound when it's auto-limited. (But at least it isn't clipped - that's the only positive I can say...) 2, disappointed by the lack of MP4 Lite. I really hope they don't keep it as an S9 exclusive. An 50 Mbps 4k 3:2 fullgate codec would be REALLY useful for some kinds of for example extra-longtime (multi-hour) recordings where the 200 Mbps LongGOP regular videos would just not be feasible. 3, disappointed by the lack of, say, 48p at OG. The hardware would just be sufficient for it, unlike for 60p OG. For 60p, 16.67ms would be needed; however, for 48p, which needs at least 20.83ms and the camera, according to Gerard's test, is capable of 20.34. That is, 48p would JUST be feasible.

I'm curious what the low light performance is. The combo of great IBIS, 32-bit float, internal RAW would be topped off with clean high ISO performance for run and gun, fast paced documentary stuff. Excited to see their updated EVA and S1H.

Well done on the video. Very professional and insightful. The only thing is BRAW. Not going to happen in Lumix. While I think BM cameras are quite awesome, they are nowhere for professional or commercial use. Amateurs and hobbyist use the BM cameras for the most part. Good luck on the channel. Now the only major benefit of GH7 is internal raw and higher fps recording. The 32 bits float recording required that XLR adaptor? That means more costs.

As a filmmaker this camera makes me super excited about future cameras! As a DaVinci Resolve user, I hate that it has internal ProRes RAW! Either have to transcode it into CDNG or ProRes 4444 to get any benefit from it. Would have been better if they went the Nikon route (before they purchased RED) and created their own RAW codec for their camera (N-RAW for the Nikon Z9).

Since GH5 and P4K I was waiting for something like that...IQ vs BM FF? I ordered it on sale and I am thinking If made the right choice? I have 45% Lumix S camera now 45% MFT GH5,5s,P4K 10%EF P6K The P6Korg is getting old USB C is dead Had some drop frame with Cfast 2.0 It is why I needed the BMCC 6K FF. Got a limited selection of L mount lens and some Cannon L lens. I have a ton of mft lenses even Mitakons T1.0 cine kind of maverick strange cine lens almost vintage. I mean I can still get great image from GH5 specially at native ISO when the light is right but for run and gun S5iiX make more sense. Sale my old GH5 make no sense because I do a lot of multicam live event production and sometimes (2-5 times a year filming 2 event same time different location) And renting here (CH) is in comparaison to cheapo MFT old bodys makes no sense. Anyway great that you can try it out...curious for what you will use it and how the PL lenses would fit on it like your Athena's...about prores raw you could transcode to CDNG...the CDNG footage of my GH5s in Resolve is much superior to Prores HQ more bit dept probably. Enjoy the GH7 Video producing is a part time income for me,but I need to make a certain amount of volume per year.

Surely the lack of internal BRAW is licensing issue with BM? They would want you to buy their external monitor to record in BRAW, or buy a BM camera lol.

I think BRAW is partially debayered in-camera which would require an engineering collaboration between BlackMagic and other camera manufacturers in order to implement internal BRAW.

Not a camera I want or need. I’ve never had an interest in MFT, and this GH camera won’t change my mind. Instead I’m looking forward to my Pyxis and then whatever camera BM rolls out to match up against the new C400 (though it better have two CFExpress slots, why Canon included an SD slot in a 2024 cine camera is beyond me). But I know there’s lots of MFT fans out there who will be very happy.
