I've just added and S5ii to my G9 and I'm amazed at the low light performance. Shooting raw, and processing with DxO DeepPrime, I've been getting good (not just usable) shots up into the 20k-50k ISO region.

I use Olympus, Lumix G and Lumix S. The E-M1x was released in 2019, it has handheld 50 megapixels high resolution, live ND, GPS. I chose it over the E-M1 III for its GPS. The G9 does high resolution more quickly than the E-M1 II, and gives you a standard resolution file as well. I have an S1R, bought used, to replace my Canon 5Ds. For me, it's the best of the Lumix S cameras. I also have the 20-60 and 50mm F1.8, but I also have an adaptor to Canon EF lenses so i can use my TS-E lenses. People have been using the new OM 1 at ISO 20k and getting commercially acceptable results. I recently found a photo I couldn't make with the S1R and 20-60, but my G9+12-35 might be ok.

Great video Andrew. Looks like an impressive camera. I am particularly impressed by the colours. Most S5ii users laud the camera's low light performance, stabilisation and low light performance (which is it very good at, as your video demonstrates!) but not much is said about the Lumix S series colour science. I recently bought a Lumix S1R to complement my trusty Lumix G9 which I've had for years (I am primarily a landscape/portrait photographer, though I'll keep the G9 for the occasional wildlife and sports shots). The colours are really improved on the S1R from the G9, particularly the greens which I've always struggled with (too 'nuclear waste looking' for my taste!). Nice shots in the video (makes me want to go and visit New Zealand). Funny to see that you've used ISO 200 for many of the shots, when I got my S1R I forgot that base ISO is ISO 100 and it seems that you did the same thing here :)

Glad you enjoyed the video. No, I was aware of the 100 ISO, but I'm happy to adopt 200 as my base for most of my work. Especially as with this video I was using the NiSi polarising filter for quite a lot of shots, which would result in a too-slow shutter speed if I was to stick with 100 ISO.

I switched from the G9 to the S5 two years ago. Since that I’ve been missing the colors from the G9 but I enjoy much better micro contrasts on the images taken with the S5. By the way, like you, I am mainly for the landscape photography and that’s the reason why I haven’t switched from the S5 to the S5 mark II. The last one has better autofocus (zero benefit for the landscape photography) but is slightly worse in micro contrasts, dynamic range and low light performance than the original S5.

Thank you. If you look at my playlists I have one called 'Processing RAW Files.' The videos are a little older and show photos taken on the G9, but my approach to editing is still the same.

Damn, I'm really hesitating on buying one while it's available at 2000€ which is 200 or 300€ less expensive than usual. I was concerned about its landscape photo quality and thé fact that Lumix might launch an S1 II version in the coming year. I have a Sony (A6300) and was disappointed about its colors then I learned about the A7R3 being really good for landscape with its sensor And I can buy one used for 800€ but it is limited on what It is good on, have a so-so tropicalisation, its screen is not on 8 axe and I Wars wondering about its colors. I wanted to learn video and was considering working on photo/vidéo for a living and I'm fond of hiking. I must consider on what I put my money on at the moment so I'm note seeing myself buying 2 différent caméras. Could you or someone give me advices ? And is the Lumix S5IIX good enough to sell large prints of landscape ? Have a good day !

Thanks for sharing ! Sorry but I don't see the differences non the results compared to the G9... And today we have such powerful post-treatment tools (as the new noise reduction in Lightroom) that on noise is no more a real issue on m43 for me... The main (and quite only) advantage of Full Frame remains for me the capability to have more bokeh (so not usefull on landscapes), but at the cost of bigger/heavier lenses than m43... Dynamics range could also a bit better on Full Frame, but it's marginal at equivalent sensor technology generation.
