I got an earlier model last year for free at a garage sale. I was so excited when i plugged it in and it worked! I'll repack the batteries someday and play with it for a bit like the lady that gave it to me told me. It's in the box and everything

My family had almost this exact same camera. There was a max zoom war of specs going on between the manufacturers, so you got this crazy 300x or 500x digital zoom which was totally useless. The front light and LCD were cool but would absolutely kill the battery life.

This looks like a lovely little camcorder. I wish they were still easy to find in these conditions where I live.

Just fixed a Philips 48PUS6401/12 smart TV. All that was wrong was a short circuited diode in the power supply. I guess it's easy fix day today.

nice unit - even the zoom can be used as a creative effect - but yeah it's kinda b.s. - I have a Panasonic from 2004 that rocks has the DV bridge -and decent image stabilizer -

Shame they didnt put a blob of glue on that connector. Well that is good enough for the odd bit of footage on holiday. Digital zoom, what a stupid way to make a picture bigger. Optical zoom uses all of the pixels.

Hey Dave, do you know how to get one of these VHS-C camcorder to pop open and fully unlace? I've got a JVC but I have no idea how to manually unlace and get the cassette to pop open. There's no cassette inside the unit but I took the mode switch out to clean it, and now I think I need to fully unlace and eject the mechanism to get it working again. I know on 8mm camcorders you can apply like 5V DC to the motor and it will eject but it seems like the VHS-C camcorders use PWM and all this stuff and I have no idea how to get it to pop open.

Not off hand. Never did much work on vhsc because the shop that I work for we were big Sony dealers and we didn't push the JVC in Panasonic cameras even though we had them in stock it was all about Sony and 8mm and hi8. None of the sales guys liked any of the VHS compact cameras so they would tell customers to their face that they were junk and talk people out of buying them that came in looking for a vhsc camera. Yeah we did sell a few and buy a few I mean maybe one or two for every 100 Sony's that went out the door. so I never really got much chance to work on any of them because they were so few out there compared to the 8mm formats that's generally what I got to see and got really quite good at repairing was the 8 mm cameras. But I got to hate cameras. It was only one day a week that cameras were worked on and that was Friday and only as long as everything else was caught up then it was my turn to work on cameras. Most people would look forward to Friday being the last day of the week and then having the weekend off I got to look forward to cameras. You see where I'm going here? I didn't prepare for you to be like working on cameras because it was always the same for problems. Either they had been dropped, gotten them wet with salt water, got sand in them or capacitors were pissing on the board. Those leaky caps started around 1990 for the cameras that had them from about 1985. Canon and Sony where the absolute worst for the capacitor plague. pretty much every camera that walked in the door if it was more than 5 years old was pretty much sure to have bad caps that's just the way it was and I used to hate it because back then I had to change them all and we are changing dozens of those stupid surface mounted caps and people are always angry they weren't real money makers because some of the cameras were really difficult to take apart like Canon everybody was always angry because cameras weren't cheap you know they were a thousand to $2,000 for a high-end camera and after only four or five years needing you 200 or $300 in repairs people were not happy

Hey sir i have a similar problem with my palmcorder, but its a dim-LCD problem. You can see something from the LCD, But it is so dim/dark that you almost can’t see it. Any comments/recommendations?

@@12voltvids I also have another VHSC camcorder that I bought from a thriftshop, no issues at all, working fine. But after 5 days of using it, while inserting it through DC input, the LCD monitor along with the viewfinder got a glitchy picture and I heard an unpleasant motor sound inside the camera. I quickly unplugged the Unit, but after again plugging the dc input, the camera output (the LCD and viewfinder) is glitchy, it turns on and off for every 3 seconds. Can you diagnose this? Thank u sir.
