When my LCD-screen on my Canon camera broke, I was lucky to find an original spare. Only 9 USD, so they seem to be kind of cheap. Maybe Panasonic have replacement LCD-screens to get the camera working?

Sometimes I had luck in finding a new LCD replacement from China. Flex cables in swivel displays are almost always fragile and unreliable, so replacements can sometimes be found more easily. Problem is... sometimes the fix may not be worth the price of the repair parts and the long wait.

That's why I spent so little time with this. Same person gave me 5 cameras. The 2 Sonys, this one a Panasonoc VHSc and full size. 1 sony fixed, 1 sony plays fine, and the VHSc fixed so far, so I am batting good odds on this one. I don't even know where to begin looking for parts for this. Wouldn't be worth it in any case.

What a shame. looks like a neat little pocket camera. The owner might try ebay for a laugh.

I had this camera in 2010, bad image resolution, almost for garbage, I replaced it with a 1080hd, it worked until 2016, then the screen stopped working, a hi8 and digital 8 would have better image quality than the one that is also digital

It's just a standard definition isn't it? I should pop out the SD card and see how bad it is.

@@salvatorev_ I would take an sd-based camera any day of the week and twice on Sunday over any tape-based camera providing it was equal or better resolution. Early on that were a bunch of St based cameras I've got one kicking around here somewhere that recorded 640 by 480 but at 30 frames and they did not look very good. Again I've got one around here somewhere that my kids used to play with when they were young ran off two double a batteries. I've also got some Kodak little HD cameras that run off of a couple double a batteries and they look fantastic the little point and shoot look like a little cell phone and they look great ones at 720 and the other is a 1080 at 30 frames. But in the standard definition world all things being equal I would have taken a flash-based camera over any tape-based camera any day. Why you might ask? Well because it's just one extra step you don't have to do. By the time we are at digital recording on memory cards we were in the computer era there was no need to put anything on to tape. Before we were in the computer area when tape was all that we had, well we didn't have much choice but once computer storage became available shooting anything on tape was just a waste of time a point of failure and general image degradation that we would much rather not have. Digital recordings on tape solve that issue with many DV digital 8 digital betacam DV cab etc they solve the quality problem with inconsistencies of tape but tape still has drop out issues you can't get away from them. you just don't have that issue with solid state memory that you do with tape unless you buy really shitty memory and then you can have memory card problems but you know seriously I've been using file based systems now for over 10 years and I never go back to a tape-based system. That extra step I'm talking about of course is digitizing the footage or in the case of digital tapes transferring the material over to the computer by either USB or firewire. That's just an extra step if you've got a one hour tape that you need to transfer it's going to take an hour to transfer if I've got an hour of footage on an SD card at USB 3 speeds it's going to take me maybe 7 or 8 minutes at the most to transfer that material at the highest resolution my camera can shoot at. Most of my videos come out around 30 minutes and there's probably an hour to an hour and a half a footage that is transferred over before I edit that takes me all of 10 minutes to copy the files to a hard drive for editing. Back in the tape days I'd have to spend an hour to capture a tape possibly another half an hour to capture the second tape. With TV and hdv every time I stop the camera it would Mark the tape and create a new file which made assembling the footage a little bit easier but with analog recordings forget it if you had a 1 hour tape and you copied it you had a file that was one hour long you didn't have a whole bunch of little segments. now I know some software had seen detection that would attempt to determine where you paused the tape and break it up into multiple segments but it was still one big file it just had thumbnails on the timeline were the software detected where your scene changes were. Were they true file based system however your files copy over from your camera you can review your files before editing you can name the files so you have a list of what each file is what the scene is ETC just much simpler workflow when it comes time to editing. Nope I would never go back to tape I was glad to see tape go the same way that records went into the analog dumpster. I know by these comments I'm going to ruffle someone's feathers but that's just my feeling and I think all the broadcasters and professionals of the world feel the same way that I do good riddance tape is done let's get our stuff that's stored on tape archived while there are still functional tape machines because they're breaking down they're not repairable in many cases as there is no parts available and you don't want to be the guy holding an important tape that you have no way to play. You certainly don't want to be the guy that still recording his current memories on tape because two or three years from now you may not be able to find any machines to play your current recordings. Now I know someone's going to comment here that they want to record on analog tape because they want that look. That look are you kidding that look terrible, you can create that look with filters hell you can even make it look like film if you want with filters question is why would you want to we're in the era of high definition in 4K TV why would you want to go back to something that has less than 480 lines of resolution. but then there's some people that think we should go back to black and white TV anyway so there you go.

@@12voltvids I agree with everything you say about digital and analog, I never said I would go back to analog, I would prefer if I seriously wanted to capture my memories to buy a compact camera preferably Sony with at least 8K resolution and high quality with large memory card storage space. For analog I would prefer if I wanted the video to look retro to use a purely analog camera that has that warm image and the tape recorder noise it makes when it spins while recording and the mics of that era also have a warm sound to the recording, none relative to the digital vhs filters that have some mobile applications
@12voltvids

@@salvatorev_ most of us did everything we could so as not to get the sound of the mechanism running picked up by the microphones. If you want the VHS look, play the standard def output from your camera, record it to VHS and then capture it. That way you have an authentic look for a shot but still have a right resolution original. There is really no reason to shoot in 8k either unless your plan is to crop out a 4k image from it. Anything above 4k is wasted space. Even on a huge TV like an 80 or 90" screen it is hard to tell the difference between 4 and 8k. Now if you were to protect it on a 40 or 50 foot screen then sure you will get more detail but on a screen that size you are going to be a fair distance back so it really doesn't matter.
