"Strawberry Fields" was made of two recordings - one sped up and another slowed down to match key and timing. John recorded one take and days later came back and recorded a different take. Each had parts that John liked. George Martin (showing why he was so important to the Beatles) decided to combine the two takes and viola! We have a completed song.

I think John originally wrote it as a soft simple acoustic version, then they also recorded another heavier version. John wanted both, although they was recorded in different keys. George Martin who originally mixed it had to slow one version and speed up another to get them in the same key.

Strawberry Fields was the name of an orphanage near John's home where he would play in the grounds with his friends as a child. A Day In the Life was inspired by John's leaving thru the newspaper. It's considered a masterpiece. The classical orchestra was asked to play the whole scale of their instruments in unison to create that masterpiece React to more of their early period and middle period of their music:. She loves you; This Boy; if I fell; A Hard day's Night;From Me To You... So many great songs

What's really interesting about that is, they entered the studio to record the video for Lady Madonna. Rather than simply pretend they were playing Lady Madonna, they decided to take an unfinished song of John's (Hey Bulldog), complete it, record it, and use the video for Lady Madonna.

(I wasn’t alive either, so I can only imagine too lol.) I’ll suggest ‘She Loves You,’ (really spearheaded Beatlemania) ‘Here There and Everywhere,’ ‘Hello,Goodbye,’ ‘Blackbird,’ ‘Yesterday,’ and ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps.’ From watching you for awhile, I think you’d like them all. ❤

Great reaction, thank you, loved watching your experience! Although I'm foremost a Queen fan, The Beatles come in hard on second place. I'm well aware that these were the 60's , there was no autotune and even more impressive is that in the 50's most hits were very sweet and goody goody. They innovated like no other, and so all bands in the 70's and 80's are standing on the shoulders of the Beatles. (In my opinion of course)

All great suggestions - especially George’s brilliant “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (preferably the album version, as the video uses an alternate take not as well known). “Something” (the only A-sided Beatles single written by George, and his first #1 hit) isn’t too shabby either! Four superb songs by the Fab Four! “Strawberry Fields Forever” was significant for being the Beatles first single of 1967 (a double A-side with “Penny Lane”), and their first UK single to not reach #1 (stalling at #2). Only four years earlier, the guys were singing simple love songs, and by ‘67, they were creating psychedelic masterpieces like “SFF” and “A Day In The Life”, which closed their amazing album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” - one of the most famous and influential albums ever released. George joins Paul and John on the harmonies for “Lady Madonna” - the band’s first single of 1968, and another #1 hit. Keep up the Beatles reactions! Thank you Bryson! ✌️✨

Strawberry Fields Forever and A Day In The Life are considered some of the greatest songs ever written. Both from 1967, both mainly written by John (with Paul in the middle section of A Day In The Life.) Their producer George Martin says that one of his biggest regrets was not putting Strawberry Fields on their 8th album, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. I'd love for you to check out some solo tracks fron the members as well. "Mother" for John, "Maybe I'm Amazed" for Paul, "My Sweet Lord" for George. For Ringo I'm not so sure since I've only heard 1 solo song of his that he wrote. Maybe "It Don't Come Easy", but I haven't heard that one yet. I should listen to it. Glad you enjoyed, looking forward to more in the future, if copyright isn't an issue.

Keep in mind, VIDEO TAPE had not been invented yet. There was no such thing as videos. The Beatles would take on single, make a promotional FILM to send out to markets to sell a tour. The term "music videos" didn't start until aroun 1979-1980. Friday Night Videos was a late night show after 11pm on Friday where about 30 minutes of "videos " were premiered. MTV came along in 1981. That is when bands started to make videos for their more popular singles. What you are looking at here, are clips from promotional films.

I almost forgot: Yes, absolutely a part 3 would be incredible. :) Maybe do 4 songs from the same album next time. Four from Help! (which was also a movie) would be fantastic and would *have* to include Ticket to Ride and You've Got To Hide Your Love Away. Those two are wonderful. Of course, I love most of their hundreds of songs. :D Another possibility would be a quartet from Sgt. Pepper's or 4 from their other movie: A Hard Day's Night. If you do 4 from that movie, it must include This Boy (Ringo's Theme), If I Fell (an awesome ballad of John's), and Happy Just To Dance With You, a great offering from George. I Should Have Known Better (with some great harmonica from John) or And I Love Her, a very pretty ballad of Paul's would round that out nicely. Four from Rubber Soul or Revolver would also be nice. My choice would be from one of the two movies if I had to choose. Honestly, if you ever want to react to a movie, either of those would be great fun. The lads were being themselves in large part for the first movie, it's just delightful.

The star of the first song is not the drums but the mellotron, used for the first time in a recording by a pop rock group. That is the main historical value of this mythical song. He broke musical and structural molds in 1967. . They opened the doors to other later artists who incorporated it into their music.

ADIML stroke of genius of the Beatles. At the time, some parents were panicking because of Strawberry, Walrus and LucyDS. Only Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da they allowed me to buy when I was 12 years old. Then I became a real Beatles fan. In my mania they parted. My lesson since then: not to concern myself too much with the biography of an artist, only the music counts for me. e.g. since I saw the Eagles documentary, I can no longer listen to Hotel California without worrying (oppressive procurement trip).

Really enjoyable reactions. I sounds to me like the high harmony on the "see how they run" part of Lady Madonna is actually George. Also, the dream section after "and I fell into a dream" line in A Day in the Life sounds like George, which would tie in with Paul meeting him on the top floor of the double decker on the way to school, which is apparently the inspiration for that part. There's always a Beatles nut around when you need one!

Yeah, the Let It Be version of the songs are a mess. You might wanna listen to the versions on "Let It Be... Naked", which is a relatively newer mix without all the stuff Phil Spector added without asking for any approval or second opinions. Which pissed the hell off of Paul, him being the control freak he is. Let It Be... Naked was released in 2003 and ostensibly it really is a more stripped version of it and, frankly, much better without that whole wall of sound. Let It Be, as a song, specifically suffers from so many sounds being added to the track, and breathes much better without the whole orchestral chaos in the original release. Anyway, your reaction to A Day In The Life is EVERYTHING. That's exactly the face I think I made when I listened to it the first few times lol that crescendo was Paul's idea inspired by his hyperfixation with avant-garde music of the time, and he went at it in his incredibly chaotic way - just told the musicians in the orchestra that they should play it by starting from their instruments' lower note to the highest and go at their own pace in a completely free way, which they Did Not Like, so George Martin (who was the Beatles' producer) just wrote some sheet music for them. Also I love how Paul and John had two songs they liked but they only had pieces of, so they went "ok, let's just put them together". and it works. It all works so incredibly well, it's insane.

Listening to these four songs, you'd get kind of a distorted idea of what the Beatles' music is like. The only one that even comes close to rock is "Lady Madonna" and it's not a very good song. The Beatles were primarily rock'n rollers who tried some other things later in their career. The only thing whoever is advising you probably knows about the 60s is that it's the decade when their grandparents were born. Your might want to try a few songs from the first four years of their career.

Let it Be has 2 versions, but the single that came out first, had no orchestra, choirs, and horns and the guitar solo was less of a standout. History has overshadowed and thrown out the single version, which was more spiritual than this overproduction IMO. Phil Spector was given the tapes by Lennon, with no consultation with the others, flor the whole album to monkey with, Producer George Martin had done the single, and THAT's the first one ANYONE ever heard in Spring 1970, and it went to #1 EVERYONE was in awe of that version. Billy Preston, African American keyboardist played the organ parts and possibly the electric piano, while Paul played the grand piano, John the bass, George the guitar and Ringo the drums.
@ricardo_miguel13 Жыл бұрын
Billy Preston is also on the album version. And I think Paul ereased Johns bass part in january 1970 when the last three Beatles (except John) finished the song with new bass and backing vocals by Paul, George and Linda that you hear on the single version. Besides that I still like the album version more, especially for the George solo he changed. That version would have been on their hit compilations.
