Admiring your beautiful antique glass jar canisters. Also your iron-on knee patches, which I remember always having as a kid. In fact, my mom - knowing how hard we were on our clothes - ironed them on our new jeans first thing. :) Our day here in the NW mountains of Wyoming looks about like yours, but with blue skies and sunshine after yesterday's 7-inch snowfall. Unlike the brutal cold and snow of last year, it's been a pretty easy winter here so far. Great getting out in the woods with the dog. Have a wonderful day! Be careful dropping those trees, Martin!

To get the trees down lower involved getting in there and cutting some supporting members safely but it does not always look that way so saved my batteries.

The Walleye and eggs was our camp cooks favorite thing to cook and we all luved it. The old fishing shows from back in the 70s released all of the fish they caught but the Walleyes were always kept in the live well. Soooo guud

Enjoyed the ride on the snow dog through the woods. Held my breath when you finally got the two trees on the ground. You sure work hard while at the cabin. Glad you take some well deserved rest time also. Good to see someone enjoying what they are doing even though it is sometimes challenging and you do that very well. We had 3 and 1/2 inches of rain of rain yesterday with in 3 hours which we did not need. Rivers and creeks are out of their banks and some places homes are close to having water damage. I purchased a nice chunk of property in MA on the CT/MA border. I finally made it to the rear, north border. Just over the line I found large (48"+ - diameter) dying pines with piles of bark chips 5/6 inches deep in a 3/4 foot radius around the bases. I haven't seen woody yet, though I heard a Pileated before winter. I'll be building resting logs/seats throughout - reversible bench - great idea! Who's your seamstress? Ha Ha - My wife wants to throw those out. I say "They're ALMOST broken in"! Some people might look at opening trails as hard work. I see great fun! Be well Martin!

I really like those corning wear pots for boiling water in the arch way of the Jotul 606 woodstove. Faster than the gas range because it heats all the way up the sides.

A friend sold Jonsereds in the area so that is what I went with if I bought a new saw. I have some others I picked up at auction cheap because I can always use most of the bars and chains on the red ones.

Is Tamarack trees hard wood or soft wood. I heard they’re related to pine trees which is soft wood.

It is a coniferous tree but loses its needles late in the fall. It is a hard wood and once dry really hard. Not like Oak but pretty hard. It is one of the heaviest woods when dry.

They should be pretty good but will not be completely dry. I do not plan on screwing them down for a floor until they are stable. Just lay them in loose and keep an eye on them. Roof boards I do not care about as much.
