One of my favorite things about this theme is that it feels like you’re fighting an unleashed beast of legend or myth. It is horrifying and it is magnificent.

The theme is criminally underrated and overhated. It's not "scream" and not "one amongst the weary" but It's solid for a first tier and perfectly catches the vibe of the underworld creature prison that is Pandaemonium and the Warden guarding it, sounds very myth like. It also sounds very reminiscent of older Final Fantasy titles such as 9. Yeah it was used for 3 fights straight, maybe a bit too much.

People got spoiled by Shadowbringers, imo. Before Shadowbringers the first 3 fights of a tier (outside of the final expansion) always used the same song. The only fight that had a unique song was the final one.

Only partially related, but the wording made me realize that they did not in fact release a "Pandemonium Warden" fight at any point in the raid. Presumably because the trauma from that was still too fresh compared to Absolute Virtue.

At first some of my static thought this was a bit too happy and upbeat for a raid fight or too... piano-y but as someone who's put in way, way time into Bird and the tier, I find it really awesome and fitting! Ha-HA! During fast mechanical bits it does have you moving with the flow of it, I think.

Love how they introduce the main melody, then turn 4 turns it into rock. Second tier continues the rock motif from 4, but with turn 8 phase 2 it turns into industrial/electronic. Then tier 3 is mostly electronic, only to circle back to orchestral for the final theme, with an Ivallice homage of all things. Meaning that this theme was probably Soken's homage to Ivallice-type music the whole time. I think this theme is still my favorite if only because the Phoinix was my favorite fight of the tier along with Lahabrea.

Just came back here to relive the agony that was my first on-content raid tier. I had like three seperate “fuck it we ball” tier statics that were crumbling almost as fast as we could put them back together, I was spending most of my spare time progging in party finder, and somehow I managed to clear JUST before the new Ultimate dropped. That was a sweet victory for sure cause the next day I rolled into DSR blind with a (mostly) blind pf group and got my teeth kicked in for an hour straight before someone’s gear broke and they were unable to repair it. And we all had 100% or higher durability going in!

Came back here after way way too much suffering in P7S PF (Primal can’t do Harvests, if they even reach it that is, save me from these idiots) Personally I prefer Scream to this on a level of “just listening to for fun”, but both themes absolutely fit their different tiers. P1-P3 is just a bunch of horrendous monsters (and Eric) where they’re just acting on instinct, their natural disposition is being ominous and haunting, like this song. Scream’s lyrics really strike hard the “Oh shit, these are people who were unwillingly fucked up, hard” and also the fact that the other keywarden, Hesperos, had a vocal track, it’s just a big ol’ pile of themeing. This is one of my favorite pieces from this expansion. For me Scream felt kind of... generic? We've heard a lot of things that go that j-rock route in this game so far, but there really isn't anything in the game that comes to mind that sounds quite like Ancient Shackles. Neither this nor Scream are bad, but yeah, I'm all for this one. Love this theme.
