This is a video that showcases a newly completed prop for a client who is an actor / producer, who needed a 1930's or 1940's style film camera.
It needed to resemble a real camera of that area, be able to have a rotating hand crank that made clicking sounds, and a side door that opened to reveal the film inside for a humorous "gag" where the film falls out or gets accidentally exposed by the camera operator.
The main body was made from 1/2" plywood, skinned with textured black ABS plastic.
The film holder, front lens and lens shroud were vacuum formed from the same plastic using custom made bucks.
The rest of the details are made from various bits of plastic and "greeblies" (technical looking bits) that were glued and screwed into place.
I weathered it with some washes and drybrushing using a mixture of acrylic paints.
Thanks for subscribing and watching!

A bike cassette gear or fishing reel also does the trick for that nice clacking sound of the crank in the camera in case you have another request like that! Great video!

hello, great looking prop! I'm about to make a prop like this so I hope you don't mind me asking, what did you use to get the color/texture looking like a real camera? And what did you use for what is the lens box? Thanks!
