I remember ChrisG was once asked if he considered Smash apart of the FGC and he said "No". He explained that when you look at the FGC you see people hop around multiple games. Someone could mostly play Tekken, but they could also play something totally different like Darkstalkers or Mortal Kombat. Some people even try to play EVERYTHING, including Smash. But, you don't see Smash players really try out anything else other than Smash. I still kind of agree, even if there are the exceptions. But, seeing Esam here is always welcome, especially if we get to see him try out a new game's combo trial. Hopefully, we can send one of the FG guys over to one of the Smash videos. Maybe for one of those silhouette quizes or something.

I think this is way less true than it feels, because smash people are so vocal online. Everyone I know who plays smash also plays/played other fighting games tho, but the vocal online presence is mostly teens who have only played smash

Seems kinda loaded. I feel the real reason why, despite that Smash is a fighting game, it isn't part of the FGC, is because the platform fighters community doesn't really overlap as much with the FGC for traditional fighting games. Same goes for arena fighters I'd assume Like there's a lot of Smash players who play other FGs (ironically moreso than the other way around). Maybe not the top ones but like most top players for one game rarely play other games of a similar genre, let alone also be as good as them. (Heck the average Tekken player also doesn't seem to play other FGs at all, especially with all the whining about 2Ds and all that lmfao)

I'd be interested to see these guys try to do some of the harder techniques/moves in Tekken 7 like getting them to try Rolling Death Cradle on King, or jfsr on Hwaorang, or taunt jet upper. Or if they REALLY wanted to be tested then give them some of the flashy combos to do with characters like Jin (EWHF, CDS 3+4, b+3, f, 1, b3, f, 1, 2 for example) or some of the mishima combos that required multiple EWGFs in them

yeah, i was always wondering why it was that there is a decent amount of content in which smash players try fgs, but they don't have anything for the reverse? i think it would be really fun for them to do, as well as for us to watch side note: i also never *ever* understood why fgc pros are reluctant to play melee when it's mentioned to them its literally free, all the good fgs cost money so that could be the only real reason, but it is entirely free, hell, you can play it with the keyboard if you wanted to but i have yet to see even one *single* popular fgc member playing melee (like actually getting into the meat of the game, not just throwin items around with their friends) the closest ive seen is TMM, who for some reason opted for an expensive console, full price game, *and* dlc, even when he was considering playing the 100% free and more convenient version do they have something against it? will they get in trouble for trying it? i actually would like to know there was the funny one with Daigo and Punk playing casually a while back, that was a good stream but i think it would be so cool to see someone, even halfway, learn melee from the start, especially with how their fg experience will carry over
