He is equal to WG. However he was amped when he did so the novelization makes it clear. Yamato's hatred increased the power of MG's Absolute Zero. However it wasn't said that without the amp he wouldn't have won more like it was a "fight fire with fire" situation. Killing someone using the power of darkness with the power of darkness is easier.

MetalGarurumon killed Puppetmon at the moment when Puppetmon was simultanousnely controlling his wooden robot, he lost his main weapon earlier, he was clearly very exhausted, and the novelization also hints that he still got a power boost. So this really wasn't entirely fair even though he won. That's why both MetalEtemon and WarGreymon did clearly worse vs Puppetmon because they faced a more powerful version of him.

Quite honestly, I don't think Puppetmon is that strong when compared to the other Dark Masters, or even any other mega level Digimon in the series for that matter, just consider his fight against MetalEtemon: Puppetmon was unable to deal any meaningful damage to him, and given MetalEtemon's usage of farting and banana peels, I don't think he was taking the fight at all seriously, especially when you remember that he was later able to kill SaberLeomon when the 2 of them battled. It's also worth pointing out that Puppetmon's hammer was broken by Garudamon, an ultimate level Digimon, who was for all intents and purposes weaker than Puppetmon. And regarding MetalGarurumon getting a power boost from being enraged, I don't think that this affected the potency of his attack, given it's absolute zero, which is the coldest temperature possible and nothing is able to move at that low of temperature, so I get the feeling that this attack would've killed Puppetmon regardless; if anything, I think that the rage MetalGarurumon felt both prevented him from holding back during their short conflict, and also is actually even more heavily implied to be the reason why he was able to resist mind control from the effects of Puppetmon's wires choking attack, especially when you consider that Matt/Yamato stated that MetalGarurumon refused to listen to him after such a heartless act

@@HabeasCAgreed. Puppetmon was tired from fighting literally all day against Megas, Ultimates, and Angels lol. And like you said, his weapon was crushed by Garudamon so he was at a huge disadvantage.

I also think it makes sense narratively for wargereymon to hold back. Blackwargreymon was fighting to kill, he wasn’t pulling his punches, but i don’t think wargreymon was fighting to kill. He was fighting to stop blackwargreymon, and to try to reason with him, and also become his friend. I think he even says during the fight something along lines of we don’t need to fight and we can be friends.

I do think that Agumon feels some sort of kinship to BlackWarGreymon so he holds back. He even had an entire conversation with BlackWarGreymon a couple of episodes back in the digital world.

Then we go back to that Adventure 02 episode where MetalGreymon beat Mamemon, BigMamemon, MetalMamemon and Giromon all at once in 1v4. It's a shame that the Mamemons never get credit in the anime except maybe BanchoMamemon who survived Rosemon (though he was still stomped horribly by her).

I dont think BWG overcame any mind control. The earlier spire digis didnt have sentience, only BWG was complex enough to develop independant thought

Have to point out that when Ken captured Agumon, he had a hard time controlling him until he crafted the dark spiral to better control metalgreymon. During that time we do not see Agumon digivolve into any Mega level Digimon so there's a good possibility that he would have been able to resist those attempts of mind-control had he been at Mega level. Yeah, WarGreymon was definitely holding back. Agumon saw BlackWarGreymon as a friend, and was fighting to restrain him not to defeat or destroy him.

There's also another difference between the two war greymons. Wargreymon has a higher defense, Black WarGreymon doesn't and has a higher offense due to the black digitron. One example, before destroying the last destiny stone, all three of the Digidestin's Digimon that were refused the ultimate level broke blackwargreymon's shield. WarGreymons was never damaged and he only used it once (considering season 2 is the ONLY time they use their shields). And *both* their armors are made of CHROME DIGIZOID, Right?

Even though this was probably never shown in the Anime, with Dark Gaia Force being accumulated from negative emotion, doesn't this potentially give BWG a similar upper bound to like Hulk and his rage? Since you cannot measure emotions, couldn't this end up in unlimited output of power just like we have seen Hulk exert in his comics? Again, we haven't seen this in the anime in the anime (unlimited upper bound), but would this change the outcome of the fight if it were true, since WarGrey even as a vaccine/virus buster cannot Blitz him?

If you're talking about plot armor then no, Tai and Agumon have lost before. In 01, even as Wargreymon with the help of MetalGarurumon, they lost again Piedmon. Of course like many other anime for kids, Digimon is a show that promote the power of bonds and friendship. So yeah, in the long term, Tai and Agumon can't be destroyed unless the writer wants to end his franchise early. Also, remember in 02, Tai is not the protagonist since it focuses on the second group of digi-destined. Tai is basically mentor support.

Magnamon vs Wargreymon would be an interesting one

Yeah, I would say that the Magnamon who fought Kimeramon would lose to WarGreymon, but the Magnamon who fought Cherubimon in the movie would stomp him. And RK one would stomp him as well. So it depends which version of Magnamon you're using..?

@@CYeoung I don't agree to scale 02 series Magnamon to 02 movie Magnamon. 02 series Magnamon almost lost to Kimeramon who's said to be on Machinedramon's level, while 02 movie Magnamon easily handled Cherubimon Vice who's easily above Machinedramon (because this Cherubimon easily beat both Seraphimon & Magnadramon at once). Hunters can be another story but on the other hand, we haven't seen how a massively experienced WarGreymon could do against VenomMyotismon. It was just an inexperienced WarGreymon who had a lot of trouble, and inexperienced WarGreymon was a lot weaker than the experienced one anyway which was seen when he tried to fight Piedmon at the first time (he got completely trashed even with MG's assistance).

Though I agree with most of what you said, you forgot to take into account the black digitron. In their own source books band I says black digitron is what makes black digimon black. Black digitron makes these black versions of already existing digimon have slightly different base stat combinations. Black versions have 1.5 times the base strength and durability of their normal counterparts, but at the cost of only being 3/4 the physical speed

Wgm has a whole lot more experience. He’s been fighting a whole lot longer than bwgm so even if the base stats are higher he doesn’t have as much experience. Its like a lvl100 vs lvl 30 in comparison.

@@Planeswalker-Pt Experience doesn't always mean that you're a stronger one. An inexperienced MetalGreymon still defeated Etemon who was very experienced Ultimate/Perfect himself. Also the three Dark Masters lost against a Mega who was nowhere near as experienced as they were. And Piedmon schooled WarGreymon & MetalGarurumon but couldn't do it vs inexperienced Holy/MagnaAngemon.. Often an experienced Digimon can be stronger but that's not automatically the case.

you seem to have forgotten that BlackWargreymon had a 1v2 against Wargreymon and Imperialdramon Fighter Mode. He may have lost but he gave both of them a good thrashing. 🚬

A fair point, but if you were paying attention, you would realize that they were not going all out on BlackWarGreymon. Their goal was to stop BlackWarGreymon, not destroy him. Which means that they were pulling their punches, while BlackWarGreymon was not.

@@MadnessHEROReverend he still had enough power to take the place of a Digital God and become a wall separating the earth from an unknown number of alternate universes even being as thrashed as he was. that speaks volumes about just how much power BlackWargreymon was packing.

@James Vontin Yeah, he was dying and didn't take the place of a digital god. With his digital core damaged, he used what was left of his life force (hp) to fill the hole in the digital world, which allowed Digimon to travel to that particular location. In essence, he became a seal for that particular portal of the digital world. That's why the digidestined had to find a new entrance into the digital world to beat malomyotismon.

Metalgarurumon would have a bit of an advantage over blackwargreymon. Since metalgarurumon can be classified as either vaccine or data. Not to mention metalgarurumon is a member of the virus busters. At least according to wikimon

Obviously, Wargreymon was holding back. He was far more experienced than BWG at that point. Let's also not forget that HolyAngemon was handing it to BWG. Had BWG not countered by destroying the Destiny Stone, he would've been done right then and there!

For the record, Blackwargreymon still held his own against HolyAngemon, who still failed to defeat him before he destroyed the holy stone.

@@StareachValcin BWG is definitely stronger, but HolyAngemon was getting the very best of him. Had BWG not counterattacked at the last minute, he would've been a goner! Unlike Piemon, were it took the help of two Megas to push him into the HolyGate.

Blackwargreymon was holding back HolyAngemon's blade, and the only thing that was threat was the gate of destiny, but unlike Piedmon, Blackwargreymon was able to avoid getting forced in. I agree that Blackwargreymon was the stronger one, even though HolyAngemon is powerful enough to fight mega digimon. That's all I have to say.

@@StareachValcin HolyAngemon just has the type advantage which gives him an edge over Virus types. Similar to what happened with Vamdemon and Phantomon with Angemon's Heaven's Knuckle. Vamdemon took a heavy hit and Phantomon got completely wrecked and he was a tier above Angemon.

@@philhenderson3516 type advantage doesn't necessarily work on control spire digimon. Angemon wasn't effective against the control spire ultimate level digimon that was created before Blackwargreymon. So, it's kind of the same concept with HolyAngemon against Blackwargreymon.

@@MustachePandaYT Yes, the attack cancel each other but wargreymon could just deflect all his attack until black war greymon out of mana instead of cancelling it with terra force. Once black war greymon couldn't produce terra force anymore, it is time for wargreymon to use Gaia force since blackwargrey couldn't deflect the attack.

It could be that WarGreymon held back but seriously, he wouldn't have taken on BlackWarGreymon except on high difficulty. BlackWarGreymon could still take attacks from Shakkoumon who was able to absorb even _Daemon's_ attacks. BWG also created the biggest distortions to the Digital World and the Real World since Apocalymon. And dude kept HolyAngemon in place quite casually for a while and anyway he didn't die vs Imperialdramon FM, sure Imperial was casual but still. At least that showed that BlackWarGreymon was stronger than SkullSatamon which in turn was stronger than HolyAngemon and he was able to paralyze Imperialdramon DM as well. IF he wins I bet it would be with high difficulty, this guy is no joke either. Ofc you can mention Dramon Killers, but the problem is that BWG has them too..

Fun Fact: Imperialdramon (the fusion that got spanked by Black Wargreymon) is ALSO a Vaccine type Digimon (I almost spelled Pokémon xD) but the reason this strong fusion gets spanked so hard while being a counter to Virus, is that Wargreymon is specialized in killing Dragon type Digimon, sounds like bullshit, but it's not, Wargreymon's claws are called Dramon Killers, they were specifically designed to kill Dragon type Digimon, Wargreymon is a Dragon-Slayer Digimon, VictoryGreymon (a Wargreymon variant) has a giant sword called "Dramon Breaker" and is another example of this kind of Digimon.

Canonically Black Digimon seemn to be heavier and have more Defense and Offense. Digimon Lore seemn to be very inconsistent, or scaled back for the Anime. Zeed Milleniummons Pocket Dimension sounds threatening but isnt as OP in the Anime. So I prefere to look at what a Digimon could actually do on Screen. Apocalymon was pretty much just Burst Mode level despite his insane Lore. The Anime usually ignores Types as well. I remember Rosemon vs Spinomon. Also I dont know if thats just a different Translation, or got changed later on, but Blackwargreymon was originaly just a Type Unknown Digimon, and as such not realy affected by the Vaccine Type, but I lack any concrete on that.

Would love to see info about the digimon sovereign and a hierarchy/ tier system for Jogress and higher capability mega level digimon. Like how much stronger is azulongmon than blackwargreymon. He seemed to no dif him.

The battle always felt too short to me. Imperialdramon just butted in and din't allow both to have a proper duel. I also think that the OG would have won in the end. But man would it have been something to see him get the W after a long and proper fight.

i feel like you're forgetting the fact that fighter mode jumped in to help wargreymon. so it was essentially a 2v1, and blackwargreymon was boxing both of them.

Imperialdramon with wargreymon couldn't finish bkwargreymon, 3 of them fell after explosion, ofc wargreymon was holding back, he said lets be friends and only pick defensive stance during the fight, but its not making him stronger, explosion of tr force pstrn laser and tr destroyer settles everything

Wargreymon and Imperialdramon fighter mode won that fight. Blackwargreymon actually admitted to that and even asked them to kill him after he was defeated.

@@StareachValcin True dat but both Imperialdramon & WarGreymon were still devolved into their Rookie forms after this clash. We don't know why this happened but since we don't know, we can't claim that they did it just for fun. So logically, I would see that BWG could outlast WarGreymon more often than not but otherwise they are pretty equal.
