Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Twisted Metal Black! I swear I did not plan this video to release on the same day as its B-Day lmao

even until now, the menu in tmb is genuinely my favorite video game menu EVER. everything taking place in one giant 3d scene is such a creative concept, and i can only imagine how much fun the designers must have had putting it all together(the music is also phenomenal and helps build the aesthetic so much). as a game design major in college, i strive to reach that level of creativity

For me, when it comes to the amount of health you receive from Health Pickups, I honestly don't mind it. I just wish Health Pickups would respawn more frequently to make up for it, kinda like the spawn rate in Head On.

Fun fact: the theme for Suburbs " the best song in this game" is a reamp version of rooftops from TM1. Also, one of the composers from this game worked on Invader Zim as well. You can hear the similarities in Minions stadium

The one thing that Twisted Metal Black was able to make me love this game is the music. The Music is unlike anything I have heard in literally any other game ever. The Soundtrack is very dynamic having orchestral scores during big battles, Downright Freaky scary ambience, and the pumping duel track when only you and another oponent is alive. This Soundtrack is basically the reason why I make music and why I enjoy and love music so much. Without it, I wouldn't have a clue what my future would look like. Give the whole soundtrack a listen and pick up the keen details about each music piece to understand why they are masterpieces (At Least my opinion). Also I just love the game in general, the same reasons you gave out in the video. An absolute timeless Game I always see myself coming back to once in a while.

Twisted Metal: Black will always remain my favorite video game of all time. Just the overall setting and tone was enough to win me over as a kid, even though I was absolutely terrified of No Face growing up lol. Still, the gameplay is also pretty good too. My favorite character to play as is Yellow Jacket. Although it's not as easy as TM4, it's definitely much better than TM2, At least when I play TMB, I feel like I have more of a chance at actually beating the tournament, since the game feels much more refined compared to TM2. Of course: We can't forget the characters. I think out of all the Twisted Metal games, Twisted Metal: Black has the best characters/stories. I mean, in no other game (besides 2012) we get to see an introduction, a middle/backstory, and a climax/ending in one session. Not to mention they're in the form of horror stories, making them somewhat intriguing in their own right. I honestly couldn't imagine TM2 having that formula lol. Still, TMB isn't 100% perfect. One thing I never liked about it is the fact that some of the characters lack any cutscenes whatsoever, almost making them feel like part of an unfinished product. Another thing I don't personally like is the Warhawk boss battle. I mean, at first it was cool going up against a helicopter, but after a while, it feels like a chore; especially having to fight him over and over just to unlock Minion feels a bit tedious, cause it's literally the same scenario every time. But besides that, I love Twisted Metal: Black. It's a really fun game that I play during my free time. It sucks how Harbor City got cancelled though, cause TMB deserves a proper sequel.

I love me some TM black but damn, did it ruin fans of TM. Made so many people act like edge lords and act like black was "real" TM and things like the classics and small brawl and kid stuff and its gotta be dark and edgy or its not good.

Another point for the "good" category: Sound design. Not just the soundtrack, but more so the sound of the weapons. The sound weapons make when appearing on a vehicle (if you play with the music off and SFX up, you can pick up on it more). There's a lot of ambient sounds in levels too (and the game without music has a more atmospheric quality on each level).

I like Black because the tournament is grounded(for what it is). The tournament could take place overnight across Midtown with the police(Warhawk) ultimately trying to stop it after so much destruction across the city. But what really keeps it down for me is the music. Aside from Paint it Black, and the menu theme, no songs stick out unlike other games.

the reason i don't like tm:black is because of it's ai attacking only players, health don't heal you that much and terribly hard difficulty
@ShagthePoker4 ай бұрын
16:55: While I agree the health pickups could give more health, I disagree with you saying there's only one or two. There's at least 3 (usually more) on every map, and, when you include the helicopters being able to give you health pickups, even more than that. Edit: Just double checked myself, Minion's Stadium only has 2. The rest do have at least 3 though.

Couldn't agree more about Black! For me it's Black, TM2, and 2012 as top 3 I enjoy the most. Black is the perfect package of everything (characters, story, lore, vibe/environment, gameplay, graphics) while TM2 is my nostalgic go-to and 2012 is my HD graphic/modern gameplay quality go-to.

After playing through Black with every character, Yellowjacket is still my favorite. I like how his Special challenges you in a way. You deal the most damage by turbo ramming enemies. Super fun imo. 👍🏻 Black is still the best. 🖤

The aesthetic and the speed are what hurt the experience for me. I prefer the games in the series that are a bit slower and more colorful: 4, SB, Head-On, etc. Black does have great character designs, though, and Snowy Roads is an absolute gem.
@jeremyriley12384 ай бұрын
Yeah, Black is indeed almost perfect. All it needed was to tone down the enemy A.I. and add some new gameplay mechanics to make it more different from the last four games and Black would have been the perfect comeback for the Twisted Metal series after the 989 Studios entries.

I'm a mechanical engineer, I started collecting Hot Wheels when I was 8 and into cars deeply (to the point I have coupla friends throughout my school days who understand what I'm saying, sum engines and shi), im into mechanical things when I became too fascinated with washing machine (just watching them splashing water around is just a theater). I'm into Twisted Metal because of cars shoots rockets (how cool is that?), and then got rock hard solid when they revealed all the vehicles in Twisted Metal 2012, everything is mechanicals, something is doing something, and bolted/welded armor plates is so fkn cool. I have no plans on dying before playing a new Twisted Metal game

i completely agree with you about the look of this game. in terms of the actual graphics quality, it's great. but i'm not a big fan of the dull, drab and dreary colors. to me, this game just lacks color in general. i know they were going for a more realistic look and it does match the tone of the game, but like you said, the look of the game starts to drag after a while. plus, i think it causes a lot of the levels to look samey. i definitely prefer the more colorful look of other games. something like TM2 really pops compared to Black. and yeah, even though i played the previous games before this one, i'm not ashamed to say that this game kicked my ass the first time i played it lol. to me, this game was always harder than previous games like 2. with practice i got better and now i'll say that in terms of gameplay, this is probably the best in the series (with the possible exception of 2012) the only real gripe i have with this game is that the cars feel too damn fast to me. even driving a big, heavy vehicle like Darkside or Junkyard dog feels like you're zipping around the map. to me, it just doesn't really feel like you driving a big rig or a dump truck. good video as always

All this game needs, is slightly more health from packs, enemies get there own single use of ramp full health, IF they are low in proximity. The secrets are awesome, besides no face, he needs a buff to his plan old special and pulse. That 3 direction hit AND pulse required is too much. Buff axel wheel form, and increase darkside ram length if no buff to damage, or buff damage and reduce bonus. Roadkill is balanced, well done. Spectre is kinda OP (as she/he should be) Grimm special is ridiculous strong, but lack luster. No reason to skip out on his skull with miniscule homing. Minion needs more speed and more fire lobs per special....... 😈

While I don’t have Black in my top 3 I still like it. My main reasons why it isn’t in my top 3 is the colors make it look boring, the health pick ups are an insult and the game is pretty unforgiving. It also is pretty dumb that you do HALF damage when you freeze someone. That’s my favourite thing to do in TM is to do freeze combos. Also both bosses are pretty bad mainly because of the bullshit shields. Maybe this is all a skill issue on my part ,but it’s why I can only play this game once in awhile.

I really dont like how all the vehicles drive at the same insanely fast speed, even the massive truck vehicles. I also dont like how you have to use the D-pad to input your special moves instead of the joystick. It makes me wish I can set up button macros for it. I found myself very frustrated at the game multiple times.

I don't like the gas can. It is so cheese and ugly. It is basically shadow's special in TM2, but now everybody has it. I want the napalm back. it adds color to the battles. a lot of weapons from TM3 and TM4 were good. However, I feel like they needed a buff because there was really no reward in using them. Visually those weapons were good. What I would do is for regular napalm you can put the fire out with turbo. For Rain napalm you have to use 7 seconds of turbo to put the fire out. The rockets in TM black look like spaghetti lines. The effects in TM black are really bad. Visually the battles don't have the same intensity and visual appeal as they did in TM2 and TM3. I think missiles should be up in the air and not dragging themselves on the floor. This is why I like Rain a lot, especially with the cheat code, because it really has the effect of a real missile. The smoke trailing behind the rocket as it approaches its target. TM black has the physics of TM3. I don't know if you guys have noticed. It drives as TM3. I think that's why it feels really good to drive around in TMB. they really need to do away with this machinegun Overheat and we need two machineguns in each side. We are not V8 here. Two machineguns has always been the TM trade mark. Now, V8 machinegun damage was perfect. That's the damage that Machineguns should do in a car combat game. In TM machinegun damage is so low that most people don't use it as much. I think the only TM where I find myself using machinegun a lot is TM head On and I hate that game.

i play 4 because it dark futuristic and about nu metall and full of bosses to ride or create your car, i like 3 because it have very good collision, i vote black bacause it literally twisted metall, and i dont like 2012 in reason they kill all mechanics such as hardcore for unlock bosses (crappy tank enjoyer), fillable collision and very wacky level design like every map is a show instead of goaled mechanic for specific task like super weapon, simply underrated atmosphere with good music theme or map for pain you self like tokio from 3 or road to hell from 4 cause they are stretched in mental manner, and why sweet tooth become a hero ? of logo it just one of all and why few characters for story, other to trash?. And basically all series have no good enjoy in process, like it more survive then fill all before :)
