Yeah born and bread and raised in Maryland and I’ve never really liked blue crab. Not been a big seafood person either. I mean if people new the garbage that is in the Potomac and by extension the Chesapeake I doubt people would eat it as much there. Funny thing, i grew up in Charles county which had the Potomac surrounding it so I was never more the 10 minutes from the river. I now live in Northern MD and am still only ten minutes or so from a much smaller portion of the Potomac. When I lived in Virginia I literally had a view of the thing. I guess I can’t escape the Potomac. What a strange epiphany I just had. Also LOBSTER?! Clearly it should have been blue crab.

Funny story about stereotypes and general ignorance. Im from Nigeria, and my mom and dad flew me and my siblings to America when I was a kid to go to school. When I found out the destination was gonna be Kansas, I was devastated. Because in my mind, according to what i had seen on television and in school text books, Kansas was nothing but wheat fields as far as the eye could see. Ohio's piece isn't a stereotype. That's basically the truth of it. Ohio is only really talked about when it comes to elections. Which is because it's very difficult and very rare to win the election without winning Ohio.
@zacharytylerleebewlee95004 жыл бұрын
Why is Ohio like the decider.
@amokriinprolgiid34094 жыл бұрын
@@zacharytylerleebewlee9500, it's more complicated than I'mma make it sound, but basically, Ohio is one of the larger "swing states" which is basically a term for a state that doesn't vote the same way every election. California and New York ALWAYS vote democrat, meanwhile, Texas and some southern states ALWAYS vote Republican. These are called blue states and red states respectively. No matter how much campaigning is done in them, they're still probably gonna vote that way. Where the real advantage in elections comes from is the swing states. The states that can be persuaded to vote a particular way. Two of the bigger swing states are Ohio and Florida. If a candidate wins both, they've probably won the election. Ohio is often held to be the most important swing state for a few reasons. First, whether it be causal or correlation, a number of other swing states tend to vote in the same direction as Ohio, making Ohio command more power than it technically does on the books. Additionally, Ohio is often considered a "pretty good summary of the whole country" -(my history teachers through the years) which is to say that the people of Ohio are about as diverse and varied as the rest of the country due to a good collection of almost every type of region across the United States. Basically, there's big cities, there's farms, suburbs, rural areas, there's old folks, young folks, all types of people you'd find everywhere else in the country. Which is why it's considered to be a good summary of the United States. Basically, if you can win the votes of these people, you've got a higher chance of winning the votes of people just like them across the country. Given, it's more complicated than that, but that's the basic gist of it.

@@growlboy360, everything I've said is still true. Even if Ohio is currently red and the election leaning blue (I specify leaning blue because technically they're still counting as of posting this because supposedly there were some really sketchy stuff going on at the polls in some states, I guess, but that's not really important). But, anyways, like I said, it's rare to win the election without ohio (which is certainly is). But, not impossible. JFK, for instance, lost Ohio but still won in 1960. It happens, it's just rare. And Ohio is still really only talked about during elections. And, as nighthawk was talking about, Businesses also consider Ohio a good place for business testing because it's considered a good summary of the states as a whole. So, regardless of current election results, it's still true.

Yup the Alaska one is so true. Seasonal desperation is so real there. Everyone is severely depressed from fall to middle of spring. Which was probably what most people my age were doing drugs, sneaking out, and doing other stuff that shouldn’t happen while in 7th grade. (So glad I left after 7th. I really couldn’t take the depression I actually had in the fall. It was new and horrible it was to the point where it was hard for me to sleep, and I was scared to go to sleep to be alone with my mind.
