I agree that the role card changes are annoying, however, I plan on shuffling them and presenting them bottom out for picking. It's a minor issue.

If you want to pick roles randomly you can take one die from each role and put them in a bag and draw.

The biggest problem with this expansion is that it costs more than the base game! I'll only consider it if it goes on sale at a deep discount.

The price is exactly the same as the base game. I consider it a decent deal since it more than doubles the events and roles plus adding the two challenges.

As I understand it, if the publisher wants to be sold in department stores, they have to adhere to the box size criteria of those stores. I think we'll start seeing more standardized board game box sizes as the hobby goes more mainstream. What publisher wouldn't want to be on the shelf at Target?

Personally, I don't mind the large expansion boxes, as in these situations I just tend to put all of the base game + expansion components into the expansion box. That way, when somebody's looking at my physical collection, they know that I actually have the expansion content and not just the base game (in case that influences their decision of what game they want to play). But I also realize that with larger boxes comes a larger shipping cost, which also drives up the retail price of the expansion. So that's annoying.

Would be nice if they would sell a pack of just the base set role cards with the new print style.

Given it's such a small number of cards it's surprising they didn't put copies of the changed cards in the expansion.

I can't wait to buy this one. The base game was one I expected to be ok, at best, for me because that's how I feel about regular Pandemic. Pandemic: The Cure really surprised me, and became one of my favourite games. Definitely most played, so more variety will be greatly welcome.

Looking forward to getting the reprint when it comes out as Pandemic and Pandemic: Cure are some of my wifes favorites to play on a whim. Thanks for the review Zee! Also, I like the blind draw token instead of cards to overcome that annoying player card issue.

I would sorta expect you could just contact Z-Man games and get a new set of the character cards. From what I've seen since getting into tabletop gaming, the companies are good peoples like that.

I would like to get an overview of those new roles and events (at least a few words what they are about) as this is the main part of that expansion and frankly the most interesting one..

Really bummed about the difference in the role cards. The name badge cards were a wonderful thematic touch. Oh well. Everything else seems great.

Ill add one more caveat to that box debate. A base game box should be larger to accommodate subsequent expansions.

I agree on the role cards that it is a bummer that they are a different size. I did send an email to Z-Man games asking if there were replacement cards available so hopefully that will be the case. Without replacement cards I will pass on the expansion. It may be petty but hey that is how I am. My OCD will just twig out if I had different size role cards in my game.

Hmm. Don't mind the nit-picking. Expansion looks good and I like that it will make the game more challenging much like adding the mutations from 'On the Brink' from the original pandemic. Hot spot looks confusing at first and I seem to find that much more interesting. Thanks for the review.

Wow, from the eye of outsider, the number of Pandemic products are really getting out of hand. Are they having more then one team developing the franchise?

To me what really feels like a slap in the face is the stickers for the purple disease. Could they not have included some nice card board disks to replace the ones from the base game? Would have been much nicer.

That is annoying that the cards don't match up. Plus the expansion is slightly more expansion then the base game is a negative for me. Maybe down the road when it becomes cheaper and they have a solution for the cards I might pick this up.
