Been painting cars for 15 years. A paint code is there for a reason color blending is essential in painting a vehicle, its implied not optional. If the color doesn't match it has to do with the way the paint shop mixed the paint.

@mickm63095 күн бұрын
I worked in printing and even then you need to be accurate in your colour matching. Most companies for their logos would use specific colours, if they were say red and blue you would go by the pantone values of those colours and mix the inks required to make those colours, not just pick any tin of red and tin of blue ink.
@sendmedoge89395 күн бұрын
Do you live in the North? In the south, there is no such thing as blending. The color fades and the tint changes entirely. So paint codes are useless. You either live with 2 colors or you paint the whole car. It's VERY common that claims regarding one or two panels gives the car an entire paint job.

I don't even blame the body shops. I blame her insurance. Her insurance did not pay for it. If you do not pay for a certain item then you're not going to get it. It's her insurance fall at the end of the day, not his cuz. He was just looking at a piece of paper that she had to file that the insurance has to pay. So if you're gonna blame the body shop, you gotta blame her and her insurance
@bethcarico75495 күн бұрын
@@mahailiabrown3972 uh, no. The judge clearly touched on this exact issue. If the insurance company wasn't going to cover a very small fraction of a cost ($200 out of $3k) to make the job look professional and an accurate color, it is their job, as the business who's name is on the line, and as the professional in this field, to inform the customer of this flaw. She doesn't even know blending is a thing, to specifically request it, OR to even know it was MISSING from the coverage from her insurance company. The shop absolutely should've brought this to her attention and gave her the option to call her insurance and request it be added, or let her pay it from her own pocket. They never even mentioned it to her. That's horrible service. It's like having an accident and insurance covering body work, and taking the car to a shop to have work done, and the shop seeing that the tire is about to fall off, and they don't mention the tire because it wasn't part of what insurance was covering. It is just ridiculous to think that way. And borderline unethical. They absolutely have a duty to tell you these things....

For anyone wondering ever car has a paint code because there’s so many different shades of paint out there. The code shows what recipe to use when mixing paints to get the exact colour. You can find this code usually in the drivers door next to the tire pressure sticker. If it ain’t there or you can’t find it you can input the cars VIN and bring up the manufacturer information and get the paint code that way.

A professional paint shop has a large resource supplied by their chosen paint supplier. It's a file that has paint cards much like you would find at any paint place like a Sherwin Williams. But they have the mixture for the exact factory match and then usually at least 3 or 4 "Alternates". The alternates are slight variations and there are examples on each card. The tech will first see which color best matches the car by holding the card against the car's original paint and then they will mix up a very small sample and do a test spray out. At my dad's shop they do it on the edge of a metal scraper. They let it dry and then compare it with the original finish on the car. It might take 2, 3 or even 4 tries. Most people don't realize humidity, barometric pressure and air temperature can effect the color of the paint when it is being sprayed as well as the type of equipment being used to spray the paint, the pressure at which it is being sprayed and even the underlying sealer or primer color. BUT, a professional shop knows all these variables and has a strategy to overcome them. When I see paint this poorly matched I call it laziness by the tech who painted it and apathy by the shop owner who let the subpar job go out. Running my dad's shop years ago I got in heated arguments with techs about poor color matches. I always won on having them repaint but they really hated going back and doing it twice. After learning that I would not accept poor paint matches they upped their game and that seldom happened. But it's up to the boss to make sure everything is up to standards. Like the judge said, "Why would you put your name on this?" I wouldn't unless it was right but I guess the defendant just didn't care.

What a dishonest individual. I have encountered such deceit before, which is why I brought my vehicle to a body shop in Glendale for a minor front and bumper repair. However, they deceitfully declared my car a total loss and refused to return it, all while attempting to extort money from my insurance. Eventually, I reached a settlement and got my car back, but these unscrupulous individuals had replaced parts with black market components, resulting in my car looking different when I retrieved it. Furthermore, they mishandled my car parts, causing some pieces to be damaged. I lodged a complaint with the Automotive Business Bureau, only to be connected with an Armenian individual who, much like the person at the auto body shop, tried to downplay the situation and portray me as delusional. The moral of the story is: do not trust an Armenian auto body shop.
