@@meifray well see, there are several important differences between [good] troll levels and bad troll levels. take an example where you see two paths, up or down, completely indistinguishable with one-way gates so you can't go back. you go down the top path, you get rewarded with the goalpost. you take the lower path, you get softlocked. this hasn't given me any entertainment nor am I even wanting to replay the map to take the top route. on the other hand, take a good troll level's creativity of say, baiting you out with a seemingly obvious way out and a powerup, while leading you to that path. you go down this path, and the powerup gets removed while an off-screen bomb shows you the correct path that you can't go back on. looking back on this, you'd laugh at how you were baited out, while also marveling at how the correct path was well hidden. this is why troll levels aren't unfun; they give entertainment, just like any other types of levels do except in a different way.

That normal level, I think I know how those end up in expert/super expert. If it's been played but not cleared it's going to have a zero clear rate, and if it hasn't been played at all then it has no stats, so I think the game just doesn't know what to do with it. Can't put it in easy or normal because it's a low clear rate, so expert and super expert get it first. Maybe.

It uses the creator's clear rate to determine where to put it. So the creator died on their level a ton of times which is why it was in super expert.

On some of my levels, people will attempt it once, die, then give up. I have some easy/normal levels that will remain unclear for a month because people die then boo it. The worst levels are expert levels because they will almost certainly get booed. Then you have to reload until someone clears it or likes it, otherwise it will be stuck on 7 plays.
