A while ago, Emily mentioned Pangolins in a video, and I had never heard of it. I had to look it up online. It is a very cool creature and I'm glad we got to see this more extended tour of it on the show.

Ok, the joke at the start with the drum roll killed me. I am actually dead. Maybe I will be delivered to your door to be skinned. I am also a penguin. A dead penguin. That is all.

I get a lot of questions about what my favorite specimen is in the collection and, uh, after much deliberation and serious consideration, came to the conclusion that it is probably the pangolin. And this is for a multitude of reasons. For one, um, I'm really surprised that we have one in our collection Nice rhyme, Emily

I love that you talked about Pangolins, Emily! I learned about this amazing creature while visiting the San Diego Zoo last year. They had a Pangolin that came out for limited viewings in the afternoon, and is apparently one of very few in the Western Hemisphere in captivity. (He was rescued trying to be illegally imported.) They're really cute in person and interesting to watch. The particular one I saw kept wrapping his tail around the zookeeper, parts of the exhibit, and all over basically.

I've seen a Pangolin in person at the San Diego zoo. He is tricky to see, since he is not on display. I saw him when they brought him out for a keeper talk in the children's zoo. I think he is the only one (or one of two) Pangolins living in the US, according the keeper.

My fiancé actually had a pet pangolin when she was young and living in Africa... well, pet might not be totally accurate. It was a wild pangolin that had been injured and rescued. It slept on the mantle of their fireplace and otherwise ignored the family. Still, she still has fondness for pangolins to this day. :)

Emily is honestly more attractive than the models you see in magazines or celebrities you see on TV. Intelligent women with a passion for something in their lives will always be so much more of a "catch" in my eyes than anything skin deep. Pretty sure the vlogbrothers did a video on that topic at some point
