Hong Kong supermarket shelves are going empty as panic buying returns over fears of a Covid-19 lockdown. I check out the streets and supermarkets to get a feel for what is going down.

I don't understand why the complaint.. because... in a single street... there are around 4-5 stores... This is not the same as life in the UK. So hop between 2-3 stores to have an entire shop. People wanted density living... Well... This is the reversal of that density living. Everybody seems to think that walking around 600 metres/0.3 miles which has around 8 stores.. is an awful lot ? Whereas in the UK... you have to commute 0.3 miles.. or 1-2 miles for a single mega store... And that is considered as close. Whereas it is even further for America... So... I don't get why people still assume that this is "bad"...

HK is a modern city, it has a lot of GIS systems in place already.. They had always been oversaturated. Always any way ! So.... People just don't want to close their stores. This is why they rather still have a little bit of something rather than nothing. A lot of people do not want to pay the rent, that is why as well.... So... This is why they rather give back the rental and breaks the contract. Cos they don't have the 60 million people influx to earn. So.... It should have never reached this kind of over-expansion anyway. And most of the time... this is driven by both overseas... i.e. External influences... as well as.... internal chaos.. which lump dump HK with debts. And that debts went outside into the world. Well.. this time round... the world is in lockdown.. and say "no more debts".... I don't blame them. They do not deserve to have that much debts.
