सदाशिवराव भाऊ का जन्म १७३० में हुआ| सोलह साल की छोटी उम्रमें भाऊ ने अपनी पहली लड़ाई लड़ी और जीती भी| उदगीर मुहीम में निजाम को परास्त करनेवाले भाऊ की नियुक्ति पानीपत मुहीम के सेनापतिपदपर हुई| बदकिस्मतीसे पानीपत की लड़ाई में मराठोको भारी हार का सामना करना पड़ा| लेकिन उस हार से मराठे टूटे नहीं, बल्कि बोहोत जल्द उभरकर उन्होंने छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज का केसरिया परचम दिल्ली पर लहराया|
