King VVolfi Very simple: the animation isn't initialized and isn't working. Animations in SM64 take form as rotations of joints defined for each frame of an animation but when they are not running, all the "limbs" of an animated ojbect have their joints rotated at 0 degree of angle (I presume) for every axis which can yield very unexpected results that are solely dependant on the way the vertices coordinates of the limbs are. For example, if the feets are constructed upside down internally (within their own frame of reference -x,y,z) and are intended to be animated with an effective rotation of around 180 degrees in x rotation, then they'll appear upright and normal with a working animation while if the animation isn't loaded but the graphics are, they'll be upside down and static. After all, this is _precisely_ what a bob-omb looks like when there's nothing animating it.

a interfered clone of a bomb-omb is just a bomb-omb upside down, but with the feet on the wrong spot. this is caused by the memory of the game, there's a line that goes like this that causes it: {bomb-ombexplosion} then > {bomb-ombexplosion}[disappear]

So I was just thinking about how clones work, and about how properties are assigned and all that. You've mentioned that platform clones are intangible and useless and whatnot before. Would that have anything to do with the platform being loaded in Mario's hand when it's outside of the tangible radius? To put it another way, do you think with the right setup it might be possible to clone a platform in such a way that it manages to inherit the original's tangibility property? I dunno. I could be talking out my rear, but suggesting something that [as far as I know] hasn't been fully studied or considered is fun. Feel free to correct me.

+lisamariefan I suppose the imagined setup would be somewhat contrived, but something along the lines of - object is grabbed for cloning - platform is cloned/loaded in mario's hand - tangibility radius is reached for platform - signal telling the platform to stop updating reaches it's destination Assuming a setup can even be reached to [plausibility] attempt this, would the platform's tangibility property be able to be set to true before the "stop updating" signal reaches the platform? This is assuming you could reach the tangibility radius on the same frame the object loads and do it in such a way that the object loads into the slot that Mario's about to grab. The more I think about it, the more it's probably not possible given what I think I understand about the game mechanics. I dunno. It's just a random idea.

It probably has to do with the hitboxes competing for the same space. See, if you ever clone a coin near another coin clone, the first clone will push the hitbox of the second one away from it. One time, I placed two coin clones EXACTLY inside of each other to see what would happen, and the second one's hitbox was nowhere to be found (I checked everywhere!). So it's probably the same case here, where the real coin and the premature coin clone are in the same spot, so the real coin's hitbox loses out and can't claim that space until the clone leaves.

If it were the clones, the game would’ve crashed before he even collected them. It was the game trying to spawn Mario’s dust particles when he started moving after collecting them that crashed the game, since the console can only handle so many objects at a time and clones don’t unload like normal objects do.
