Dime had the ultimate respect in the metal guitar world. Dime saw EVH as his hero. After Dime was murdered by a deranged lunatic, EVH gave one of his original guitars to be buried with Dime. Zak looked up to Dime and is paying tribute by playing guitar on tour with Phil.

Will never forget the first time hearing “Walk”. It was also my introduction to Pantera. It came on MTV’s Headbangers Ball. I was throwing a party and everyone was out back. I came in the house to get something from the fridge and this came on. I remember my head snapping towards the tv and my initial thought was, “What the hell is THAT?!” That riff. My God. Highly highly recommend Pantera’s “Domination” live in Moscow in front of 1.6 million people. Dimebag Darrell’s solo in it, imo, solidifies his place as one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

Metal concerts in the early 90s were great. Not a single fucking cellphone in the crowd. Everyone was just focused on the band and music, and Pantera had some of the most brutal mosh pits. I'm too old for that shit now!

Thank you for the reaction Ash, pantera was my introduction to heavy metal back in the summer of 1994, my life was forever changed, they are one of the most talented, important and influential bands of all time. Pantera is so good! If you want to hear one of their slower songs, check out Cemetery Gates. make sure it's the 7:03 minute version and not the 5:46 edited version, as it cuts out some of the best parts of the song. Other great songs are Strength Beyond Strength, Mouth For War, Cowboys From Hell. I'm Broking, Becoming, Fucking Hostile. I could go on.

They recorded their album Far Beyond Driven in 1994 and people were saying metal was dead but they proved those people wrong because when their album was released on March 22nd 1994 it debuted at #1 on the Billboard top 200 charts. It was their fastest selling album and certified platinum. Also it is the heavest Billboard #1 ever. The group has said that everytime they recorded an album they want it to be even heavier than their last album. 😀😃😄😁

There's a video reaction on KZbin where Phil saw it and responded. When Pantera started to taste just a little bit of success, he had gone back to New Orleans to visit. His old friends were giving him a lot of crap, saying he had changed, he didn't think that was true at all. This is what the lyrics are about, the old friends he had that dissed him when he went back home to visit. "Run your mouth when I'm not around, it's easy to achieve, you cry to weak friends that sympathize......those same friends tell me your every words."

Great reaction. Subscribed. I’ve been to more Pantera concerts than any other band. Still to this day. Their shows were nuts, their mosh pits were legendary. One of my favorite bands. This song still gets me hyped. Back in the day when I was younger and a lot dumber, I would listen to Pantera before getting into a fight. Fighting is dumb, but damn, I felt invincible listening to Pantera. They’re songs are often positive in a way. They talk about having strength, confidence and perseverance. About saying fuck you to shitty people. I’d recommend “Fucking Hostile” or “Mouth for War” next.

As a TEXAN I can say if you like Rock and Roll, you are probably going to like PANTERA. They kicked everyone’s ass when they came out strong in the early 90’s. I had the advantage of being from the home state, so I got to see them from the beginning. 6 times live on their first tours. Powerhouse band that would peel your face back live! Pantera has and always will be my favorite band. You should definitely check out more of their songs. The Abbot brothers are hometown boys. From the Dallas Fort Worth area. Rex is from North Texas and Phil is from our neighboring state of Louisiana. I love these guys so much and Phil is still my favorite vocalist. Love everything he does. All these years later I'm still kicking myself for arriving late to a Black Sabbath concert in '99 and completely missing Pantera. Cowboys From Hell, I'm Broken, 5 Minutes Alone, Becoming, Drag the Waters, Sandblasted Skin, Yesterday Don't Mean, Goddamn Electric, Revolution is My Name, Slaughtered, Strength Beyond Strength. I was fortunate enough to grow up with Pantera, Metallica, Slayer and then into my teen years it was Slipknot, Lamb Of God (my 2nd favorite metal band behind Metallica), Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, Shadows Fall, to name a few!!! I grew up about an hour from The Abbott's in North Texas. Getting to watch those guys in the local clubs before they became one of the biggest Metal bands in history was truly amazing! At 15 Dime was destroying grown men in local guitar competitions.
