1. First, I would like to say I LOVE YOU CRAZY MOTHERFUCKERS! 2. When I wrote this song, the lyrics were inspired by coming home to my very close friends after achieving a tiny-ass bit of respect (before we were even "big") and I noticed they were treating me differently, as if I had, or was gonna change on 'em. And honestly, it fucking kinda hurt they would feel this way, talk shit, etc...so damn, I wrote this song for them! 3. I adore the fact you cats have an open minded opinion on music, because we ALL should! It's fucking healthy! I love all kinds of music, from almost every era, time, date and beyond. So Fellas, thanks again for the kind words, keep doing what you do, and I send my love, respect and praise to you both! Much love x's 2 + 100000000! Philip H. Anselmo, singer from the now defunct Pantera ps- Danny, formerly of NIN sent me this link, so props to him, as he is an awesome cat, and a wonderful friend to this very day. Peace!

really great to hear the actual inspiration for this song. When it came out, so many were saying it was racial because the band came from Texas. We always thought it was just about respect and not talking shit. We used to play this one, but honestly only because i couldn't sing all of cemetary gates. Lost in Vegas, if you liked this song, please do a reaction to Cemetary Gates by Pantera. Vegas local here, just found you guys.

I remember it like it was yesterday when I got to see this song being played live. Shit got ruff as the crowd pulled up the flooring at the arena exposing the hockey rink ice underneath. My brother and i dominated that pit like a couple of savages. Only making our bond stronger knowing we had each others back when life knocks us down. Not only did I get to witness the powerful impact you have on metal, but your impact on people trying to get through lifes struggles. Music can heal ones soul and you have made some great music that will stand the test of time. MUCH RESPECT!!

Get Em Jones to understand the lyrics on walk you kind of have to know the band a little they are not just saying randomly respect them and walk this song is about them and their supposably close friends having fun and drinking when they are performing in their hometown but when they have to leave their supposably close friends talk shit behind their back like they think they are too good for us only because they have success or like only when they come here they just want to hang out but when they go back they are the ones that are like hey whats up man how you been and band knows that they are talking shit behind their back without them knowing thats why he says that he is tired of this shit that he is this close of kicking your ass respect me say it to my face now that i am here dont talk shit behind my back cuz either way i am still gunna know the things they sing about is true you just have to know the band and for the volcals phil anselmo the singer is a bad ass mother fucker i have people listening this band that dont listen to metal and they like it the instrumental volcals and lyrics they just tell me that they fuckin like it and that they can relate to the lyrics i mean you are the first one but then again everyone is differnt and when you said that we need to start to listen to real music well this is real music what pantera sings about is real is all real
@enki63347 жыл бұрын
that's how you know something isn't good enough to be called a best of the best if you couldn't understand what the singer was saying & the lyrics had no meaning to anything even from his story, for example listen to linkin park you could understand every word he sings and everything he says without even looking the meaning behind his songs like that's god damn talent man. 30 seconds to mars as well, three days grace, & sum 41 they all had songs witch where so damn good that anyone could understand what they where singing and can relate with the lyrics. and this song you really have to act and play it off saying its good because you haven't heard anyone better than this. and of course your friends would say they love it because they are your friends man common sense. they don't want to be dicks and tell you the truth that they don't like it or man up and tell you straight up that this song isn't good enough to be called good. And everyone has their taste in music I understand but when you spot talent everyone should appreciate it because there maybe wont be another. and you can tell if they have talent or not, like again the difference between they way they sing. how you can understand every word the singer says & if his voice is over the instruments like three days grace and linkin park. and people will believe that everyone has talent to sing and no that's hella false. you can tell if someone doesn't want to sing and you could spot it but most people don't want to announce it
@getemjones117 жыл бұрын
I said nothing about the singer. I understand that some people don't like the screamers or the slow emo style singers, but the music is amazing. Rock, Jazz, Blues, Gospel, Country, and Reggae are the only genres that you can go to a concert and listen to a full instrumental.

I think Dimebag is better to compose Riffs and Randy to compose solos. But Randy did really good riffs, and Dimebag did amazing solos (I can't chose what is the best solo between Floods and Mr. Crowley). I prefer Dimebag by a bit. The dude that gets out doesn't look like the owner of that nice ride. I'm browsing the aisles and did a double-take when I realized it was Vinnie Paul. I know he grew up in Arlington & still had property just a few minutes north. So I asked, "are you Vinnie?" He says, Yes sir! He shook my hand, and I told him I've been following since I was kid around Saavy's club in Fort Worth (in the 80s) and many others. He was so nice, even though he must be tired of people coming up to him. That day he was wearing a Van Halen necklace. Showing his RE-SPECT (if u know, u know). Little did I know he would pass 10 days later. RIP to a legend in heavy metal!

Re-Spect WALK!
@inflameswetrust21945 жыл бұрын
I was at mayhem festival some years ago and five finger cover punch had just finished their set. They had a reasonable crowd size. However, as the stage was being set for the next group panteras walk came on over the PA.... The place FILLED up immediately and mosh pits formed.... In other words, pantera doesnt even have to show up to outstage other bands.

Pantera is to metal what N.W.A. is to rap/hip hop. They each pioneered their respective genres and inspired countless musicians
@antichoice17 жыл бұрын
Neither of those bands pioneered their genres. Black Sabbath and Sugarhill Gang pioneered metal and rap respectively.
@madrocts7 жыл бұрын
antichoice1 Uhhh I don't think sugarhill gang pioneered rap
@antichoice17 жыл бұрын
Uhhh, they brought it to the mainstream in the 70s, so they kinda did. It certainly wasn't NWA LOL.
@knochengeklimper57437 жыл бұрын
antichoice1 Yeah but Pantera pioneered Groove - Metal. After Pantera Bands like Sepultura came from Death/Thrash to Groove Metal too and etc.
@antichoice17 жыл бұрын
Sepultura went downhill when they slowed down and "grooved." Arise/Chaos A.D. was the last great stuff. Black Sabbath pioneered "Groove Metal" by being the first to play metal, and with a groove.

Whenever someone tells me they dont like metal, i show them this song. Its like the perfect mix of heavy, groovy, shredding and full on power. The lyrics also embody the feel of the song so accurately. They usually end up textin me a week or two later saying they cant stop listening to the song.

Fellas. It's been long enough between Pantera songs. You have an entire catalog of incredible songs to delve into. I'd suggest Domination Live, Hollow, Broken, Cowboys From Hell, A New Level, and Cemetery Gates to name just a few.

Pantera was so awesome! I remember seeing them at Savy's on E. Lancaster in Fort Worth. I went to school with the owner's son and he got us in to watch them when we were 16. Dime and Vinnie were such down to earth and approachable guys. Eventually I was attending some of the wild parties. Thanks for the memories y'all! Y'all should do cemetery gates.

I've read a lot of the comments and I like them. Not sure if anyone has touched on the moshpit, though. Some of the nicest people I have seen have been in the pit. If someone falls down there is always someone to protect them and help them stand back up (with a literally helping hand and making sure people move away to see they are down). Metalheads are some of - if not the - the nicest people you will ever meet. The music is loud, but the love and camaraderie are great.
@TheThunderwesel7 жыл бұрын
Glen Eccles so much this. Alot of people are scared of a mosh pit when once you get over that fear and jump in its an experience that youll never feel anywhere else. You quickly learn the kind of unspoken rules and then it's just amazing. High recommend to everybody to at least try it once
