Come check out what our large family of 9 eats during a typical week! This week, I need to be purposeful in our menu and use up food items that are expiring soon or things that we have a large surplus in stock. We enjoy eating fruits and vegetables that we grow in our gardens and meats that we hunt or raise on our homestead. We also love meals made from whole foods that are made from scratch, but we have plenty of fun treats too. There's a LOT of food in this video! (Scroll down to see all the videos that were referenced in this video!)
Here's an affiliate link for the AWESOME cheese grater that our family uses and LOVES! By using this link, YOU receive the product, but our family receives a small commission. amzn.to/3tbPNYU

I heard a trick from a very lovely lady here on KZbin, and she said, you can use up your leftover small bits of remaining jelly from the fridge by using it in bread instead of sugar. I saw her loafs and I must say they look perfect every time! I love your weekly meal videos keep them coming! ❤

Best week of the month at our house is clean out the refrigerator week. With all the scraps Ive saved there's always vegetable soup, tacos, burrittos, enchiladas, stir-fry, meat saice, fried rice with meat, chili. I'm meticulous about dividing meat up for dinners and there is aways meat left in the freezer. BEST week of the month.

I am trying to see other ways to use your traditional buttermilk. I know with WHOLE buttermilk you can make buttermilk fudge. It's not the traditional chocolate fudge, but more a caramel flavored fudge. I thought you might like the recipe some day.

@@ozarkfamilyhomesteadGreat minds think alike! Absolutely love homemade whipped cream and I’ve been on a kick here lately where I have me a little bit just about every night, instead of ice cream. And I love nothing better than to take a pint mason jar, pour some heavy cream in and shake the dickens out of it until it’s thick and yummy. It’s really surprising how quickly it comes together. I do add just a pinch of powdered sugar to mine to sweeten it a tad. I really love it on fresh fruit, but most of the time I don’t have the patience to cut that up so I just put the whipped cream in a little cup and eat it with a spoon. 😄

How did you make your root cellar
@ozarkfamilyhomestead
@ozarkfamilyhomestead 7 ай бұрын
Suzanne, I haven't made an official video on it yet, but our home is actually an earth-berm home. So, it's built into a hillside. Because of that, it was fairly easy to also build a root cellar into the same hillside as the house. Now, having said all that, we didn't actually do any of the construction! The house and the root cellar were both already here when we bought the property. :)
