After viewing this today, I immediately took it to my son and begged him to make it with fresh venison as we have all the other ingredients except the yellow potatoes. He has to make a trip 6 miles north to Greenbean to pick up 12 medications for me and said he’d stop and do a small bit of grocery/ produce shopping tomorrow. Upon his return, his sister will play souls chef and chop up onion, potatoes, cube the cheese and assist with whatever else is needed. I will post a picture of the soup on the Gram for you to see, but he was already salivating watching y’all make it. Thanks again to the Ozark family for lifting mine out of the dregs of our situation as i received my lab results today and they’re frightening, but I’m told not to panic, so prayers are genuinely needed for this old bird. Janice & Sarah - most call soups 'comfort food' on cold or after a hard day, or 'good for what ails you' food, if one is feeling a bit 'under the weather'... but I just like soup any time of the year, any season...any weather. This one looks delicious as does the sound of your sourdough bread Sarah, especially with a slather of nice fresh Daisy the cow butter! That grater looks like the best tool for any kitchen. This reminds me of my Grandmother making milk gravy with the roux and milk. She would scorch the roux to give it a great flavor! The soup must be fantastic, all I seen at the end of the video is heads bobbing!! As a side note, those barrels shipped today, so you should have them soon!

I have my dad's and my daughter made one when she was little and used it for a "show and tell" for her church AWANA class. Stickers are SO neat. Especially the old ones. Oh, that reminds me. I have the scrapbook my mom made from all the cards and notes from my baby shower before I was born. It is SO precious to me. (I'm close to 70!) Always a pleasure to spend time with you all.

Janice, this soup looks so delicious! I think I’ll add it to my list of your recipes to make. I might just mash some of the potato to thicken it though since I’m trying to cut down on white flour. That’s usually how I thicken soups, unless I add in yucca, which is a good thickening veggie.

@@ozarkfamilyhomestead I could never break tradition and not have the regular turkey and sides for Thanksgiving! 😅 But my friend’s mom makes a “secret soup” every Thanksgiving that we eat first and everyone has to guess what the soup is. She makes the soup and then blends it so it’s smooth and individual ingredients can’t be detected by sight. It’s a lot of fun to hear everyone’s guesses! I will suggest this one to her for a future year. In the meantime, I’m going to make it for me and my daughter 😊

Sarah...an idea for you. You should plant 3 or 4 avocado pits. If you grow them in large pots they can be put outside in the summer and back in greenhouse in the winter. You can also plant the top of pineapples and they will grow a pineapple...also you could grow bananas. Move out the same in the summer...but a banana is not actually a tree. You save a shoot to grow for next years banana plant. I would be trying everything with a greenhouse. If it still gets too cold in summer you can use a smudgepot to keep it warmer.

The pineapple takes 2 years and the fruit is a little smaller than what you buy at the store. But its fun and they are yummy. My sister lives in Florida and every time she has a pineapple she plants it by her pool.
