What the developer has to say about the game:
"Graviteam Tactics: Mius-Front - tactical battalion level combat simulation. It is a sequel to Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star and Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943.
Game is comprised of two modes:
Operational - turn-based mode where you can shift and concentrate forces in the chosen directions, resupply and replace units, repair and refuel vehicles.
Tactical - real-time mode where you are conducting fire combat with the enemy, capturing territory, destroying vehicles and the enemy manpower.
Four large-scale operations for the Red Army and Wehrmacht with realistic organizational structure. The campaign features more than 100 detailed vehicles produced in USSR, Germany, US and UK. Over 140 sq. km of realistic landscapes were reconstructed from topographical maps and photo and video materials.
-New enhanced UI: streamlined interface of various panels, radial orders menu and other enhancements.
-Interface appearance and customization: three variants of appearance are included, customizable unit markers (Red Army, Wehrmacht, NATO).
-High replayability and advanced AI, which selects the best strategy based on behavior, not a predetermined script.
-Advanced management of forces in the operational phase: reinforcement strategies and management of reserves.
-Statistics keeping: performance of each unit is recorded (kills, losses, awards, etc.). After each battle, damages and condition of forces and vehicles are shown in the after battle statistics.
-Battlefield simulation: realistic vision devices, smoke screens and flares, creation of trenches, explosion craters. Remnants of previous battles remain on the battlefield until the end of operation.
-Realistic soldier behavior: each soldier has several essential parameters, such as experience level, stamina and morale, which influence their behavior and effectiveness.
-Detailed weapon modeling and realistic ballistics: bullets and projectiles follow ballistic trajectories, taking wind, temperature and other parameters into account.
-Advanced armor penetration: modeling based on ballistic histograms without simplifications of probabilistic methods, generation of secondary fragmentation fields takes into account many parameters, such as the change of the field shape in space, fragments and armor characteristics, armor thickness and damage conditions.
-Complex vehicle damage system: engine, suspension, sights, weapons and targeting mechanisms can be damaged separately, affecting the combat capabilities.
-Destructible environment: almost everything can be blown up and destroyed, from landscape surface and buildings to vehicles and enemy defensive installations.
-Advanced control of the off-map artillery, featuring various fuse settings and shell types.
-Formation and movement modes: lines and columns, movement by road and covertly, infantry following behind tanks, setting a delay, fire sectors, etc.
-Automatic smoke screen laying: units set up smoke screens when enemy is spotted.
-Dynamic change of the time of day, light sources and weather effects, influence the course of battle, visibility and area passability."

30:10 I would like to point out that despite inferior armor and engine etc, the Germans had almost always better optics, which really accounted for a lot as you may imagine in the Russian steppes. Sure, the T-34 sure were absolute beasts in comparison to paper thin armor like panzer 2 specs wise but they could barely see or hit anyone. It has been reported that a significant percentage of first waves of T-34 had no optics at all, you had to fire the cannon using basically an iron which is crazy when you think about the distances usually involved. PS: awesome videos btw

Wow I didn´t know that they sent out tanks without installing the sights first. As far as I know the initial superiority of the german tanks is mainly due to good training and communication. The Germans were frequently able to outmaneuver the Soviet tanks units, since the Germans had radios, while the Soviet tank commanders often only had flag or hand signals.

May be a late reply but I do think it's worth mentioning during 1943 Soviets really stepped up on quality control, so 1943 it wasn't really the case anymore although Germany still have decent optics so did the soviets especially the T-34/85 Generally though the majority of the time the Germans will have better optics just don't be as reliant on them 43 onwards

Yes! Finally caught up with the latest episode. Just in time before the next one gets released! I absolutely love this campaign. Early days of the war in the east is such and underestimated time period. So many great battles but most people only look at mass encirclements and make up stories about red waves with shovels instead of guns. Glad to see that at least GTMF puts the spotlight on these autumn '41 battles. Completed Typhoon Rising campaign as both sides myself. A neat little campaign and the earliest episode of war available in the game. But what I like about Raging Bridgehead (besides the fact that you command an entire division) is the map and the landscape. It looks superb and in comparison with most of the other campaigns there are so many forests and the importance of roads is also so high! Anyways, thank you very much for producing high quality content! Looking forward to the next episode :)

I fully agree about the early war fights being very interesting! But Raging Bridgehead is actually the earliest campaign :) I´m thinking about playing all campaigns in chronological order. It will be interesting to see how the weapons, tactics and challenges develop throughout the war. Typhoon rising would in that case be the next campaign that I play.
@nonepolsi

@@Tonci87 oh, of course, my bad. Typhoon Rising takes place later. I think I got confused because it was for a short period of time the earliest episode of war in the game (also when I was playing it). And then the Raging Bridgehead campaign was released as the next DLC. Also I totally support your idea about playing all the campaigns in chronological order! I'm definitely not patient enough to do it myself, but as a viewer I have a chance to make it happen. Thank you for taking time to reply.

Thanks for this video with the continuation of this campaign. You seem to be quite cautious with your attacks. I would be tempted to bring up all my forces so that they all can attack at once. For example some Pz 2 and 3 drove up the road only towards the end of this episode. On a separate point, I see you waited for the mortar spotter to be stationary before you ordered the strike. Is it worth trying when he is walking towards where you set him to move to ? Just wondering.

I think you will love the next episode. ;) If you can suppress the enemy, then attacking becomes much easier and you take fewer losses. Especially if you fight in the forest, it becomes very important that those PPSH gunners can´t just mow down your troops.

Perhaps You can consider uploading split battles in shorter time than one week, however because You have other games covered, You know the best, what's better for channel and quality. About this battle, I was thinking all the time, that perhaps right flank (open ground) had weaker defences, for some flanking opportunities. I guess I will check that up in next episode. You are doing nice work with this videos. :-)

On your comments about the soviets adapting to a new way of war. They were actually ahead of Germany in doctrine for maneuvering and using tanks as well as mechanizing their army. It was Stalin cleansing his officers that set them so far behind.
@Tonci87
@Tonci87 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that is correct. When you get rid of all your competent people and replace them with corrupt yes men who can´t be a danger to you, your army tends to go to shit. I guess Russia didn´t learn that lesson.

Regarding the splitting of videos, I don't mind them being split like this, but I'd love to see the later halves of the battles perhaps uploaded mid week if possible rather than having to wait the full week for the second half of a battle that was already started.

First T-34s were lost during the first day of Barbarossa. German units didn’t even notice them. They were not impervious, it’s just a nice excuse the german generals used when things didn’t go the way they expected.

Regarding the missing APCs, remember that panzergrenidier only means that the troops are specialy trained to fight in co-ordination with tanks, not that they are provided with armored trainsport. Does the game menusspecifically claim they have APCs when you look in the unit tables?

Really good episode, nice manouvering. And you are right, fighting those soviets didn't seem to be a walk in the park (those soviet artillery units seem to be quite good, but then the russians were known for their good and brave artillery). Have you ever considered trying 'Command Ops 2' ? It lacks the fine graphic with which this game shines so extraordinarily and it's taking a more 'operative' view (aka map only) on the battlefield. But then this approach gives you a more realistic 'sim-feeling' - the micromanaging of units down to platoon level and the more or less total view of the battlefield are options, Hoepner, Reinhardt and Manstein did and could not have. By the way, don't you think those infantry on the back of a tank got their butt roasted? The were sitting right above the engine.

Interesting question. I imagine that the engine deck wouldn´t get too hot, just like the hood of a car will get quite warm, but not hot.

City battles are not featured. The Developers explained that this would be outside of the scope of the game and would eat up to many resources. There are some campaigns with small towns though.
