I am really hoping for Elizaveta, back when she won worlds I was a competitive synchronised skater and I was about to retire as I felt very stressed, and defeated! But Elizaveta inspired me to keep going! And, one year later my team and I won the Italian championships for synchro skating!!!!

@@martine8464 it’s horrible. A stunning skater should not be given screechy music, especially during an Olympic year. I find it hard to listen to. It would be one thing if it had really cool edgy choreography, but the choreography is the opposite of edgy and has nothing to do with the music. I’m sorry I sound so negative. Just super disappointed.

I actually kind of like Shoma's bolero? Very surprised by that. Definitely better then Kamila's, that girl is so incredibly talented why ale they doing that to her I'll never understand. Aliona SP is very promising to me. I think Danny G might put the most effort in Anna's programs.

Okay good, at least I'm not the only one who actually digs Shoma's Bolero! The re-orchestrations certainly help, or at least help distract from the fact that it's Bolero and adds a little more than just the droning repetition. Although, I would love to peak into an alternative universe where the kept in the opera singer vocals of the re-orchestration. THAT would have driven skating twitter absolutely insane in the worst and best way possible lol. But also hard agree that they are really squandering Kamila's talent with Bolero . .

@@trinitea7826 I'm starting to really trust Lambiel as a choreographer. I hated that Shoma was doing bolero when I first heard it, then when I saw actual program I really got into it. Similar with Shoma Michael Jackson program - not my favorite choice but choreography, music cuts and generally Shoma being amazing really sells it to me. I still might prefer over concerto slightly oboe Jackson? I'm not sure yet at this point

@@menufara Every choreographer has had duds, but I can't think of a Lambiel choreographed program I think is truly "bad". So I'm actually pretty excited to see how Bolero will grow over the season. And yeah, the Michael Jackson program took me by surprise! I could not imagine him doing it when it was announced, but had a really good time watching it! There was a dance break! He took us to the club! And Shoma's commitment for both this and Bolero really makes the whole thing come together. My ideal outcome is Obeo as this year's sp and MJ as the ex and possibly next season's sp (assuming Shoma sticks around, and gosh I hope he does). Just because the ice dance pattern is the Midnight Blues and I already am a little sick of Michael Jackson. But I'd love to see the program polished :)

@@trinitea7826Lambiel isn't doing like 10+ programs a season like Danny G or Benoît Richaud so it probably helps him to stay more original and creative. The image of Shoma that I used to have is that he was a guy who was doing the classical music very well (probably from his Pyongyang olimpics programs) but he's so versatile. Great spirit was one of my favorites last season. I'd be very happy with oboe for this year SP and Jackson for next. I mostly watch woman and man's skating, not so much of pairs and ice dance so it feels pretty fresh to me.

@@menufara Completely agree! I've already seen a clip of Kamila's sp from this and last season side by side and it's literally the same choreo . . . We all knew Danny G was out of ideas but it physically pains me that she's being done so dirty. The fact that he's chreographic 10+ programs in a season is so frustrating. And totally, I think Shoma's ability to interpret different types of music is underappreciated. People think he's just intense, and sure, that's what he's brilliant at, but he has a lot of range. I do like that Lambiel is trying to bring that out a different side of him with MJ. Whatever it comes down to, as long as he is confident and can deliver a solid sp, I'll be more than happy!

Okay so.. RANT 1- hate that bolario, its one of the most annoying figure skating music I’ve heard in my life I’m sorry😂 2- i dont actually hate anna’s music for last season at all.. it might sound similar but it really suits her however im not interested in her winning or kamila (especially with freakin’ bolerio💀) which leads to.. 3- IM REALLY RUITING FOR SASHAAAAA!!!! I love her so much i caint- 4- i wish maya could surprise us all especially after that last stage of the russian cup or whatever it was with her quadtoe, and daria… i really dont see her being competitive without any ultra C 5- kosto really needs to be consistent if she wants a shot at making the Olympics especially with last season but she seems to be on the right track (getting the 3A and all)… hopefully actually landing it in competition and tomorrow. 6- as much as i dream the Olympic team would be the three A (anna,aliona,sasha) i still feel like kamila is guaranteed an Olympic appearance so :( 7- id be shocked if empress,maiia or daria made it honestly. I truly do not understand why people like Kamila...I just don't see it. I am always surprised she lands her 3A as it always looks off when in air. Someone tell me what you see...I am no figure skater so maybe I miss something?? Edit: After seeing her SP, I do like her artistry and think it's good, but I think Daria's artistry was there in her SP as well today (though she doesn't have any ultra C elements) and Sasha improved so much in her artistry which was needed to improve her chances in olympic season. Also her 3A looks nice though she twisted it, but I could see her eventually getting a 4A if she wanted...

I think Sherbakova will perform really fine, not as strong as past but she will be good. But I think her big problem will be the lack of specialness. She isn’t a strong technical skater as Trusova, isn’t an artistic skater as Kostornaya and isn’t a well rounded skater as Valieva. Last season she was the only senior lady of Tutbaridze so she haven’t had a big competition but now they’re 5 more ladies. I think Kostornaya will be better this time, she will get back her technique and artistic ability, but I’m not sure if it will be enough for the Olympic. I’m VERY, VERY, curious to see Maya’s free. It going to suit her exemplary or be as bad as hell, I can’t see how it’s can be in the middle. I think Trusova will be a little more artistic and mature and I think this is what will determine if she will make it to the Olympic.

sofia muravyova is not much of a superstar. she is 15 yo already and doesn't have any ultra-c elements, in our days it's quite sad state for a russian skater. however, plushenko has the other girl, 14 yo anastasia zinina, who recently won moscow junior championships. she has the quads. zinina should be competing against eteri's top junior girl (akatieva) at the next jgp event in krasnoyarsk russia.

Hear tell that mom is a bit of a monster, you can see a sadness in Veronikas eyes. It was nice to see Veronika taking Sofia. She deserved this win. The bar for those girls set unbelievably high. Kamilas skate this weekend made me cry. Grace, skill and beauty in spades. I can’t wait to see what happens. My heart is shifting away from Trusova. I never would have believed this. Happy skating.

"zhilina" and "zinina" are two different last names (жилина & зинина in russian). veroniika has a younger sister alena, who is 12 or 11 yo now, i'm not sure, either was she is not age eligible for international junior competitions. and to be honest she's not doing great at russian novice competitions, despite that she has a 3A, you can usually see her at 15th places or something.

Welcome back. We missed your commentary. I too am looking forward in watching Tutberidze's girls', dominating the upcoming Olympic season. She possesses six truly mesmerizing skaters through the ladies field. Including Alena Kostornaya, Anna Scherbakova, Alexandra Trusova, Kamilla Valieva, Daria Usacheva and Maiia Khromykh. This sensational Russian ladies sextet will definitely be the top draw amongst the top ladies figure skating field going into the 2022 Olympics. I am also rooting for Kostornaya, Trusova and Valieva to capture the top three spots. Representing team Russia. Scherbakova is a consistent skater but really doesn't possess anything dazzling about her skating style. The rest will have time to master their skills in the future arena of ladies figure skating.

I'm divided On the Russian ladies. Yes "quads" are exciting but they're cheated quads. I can appreciate a decent triple with the correct edges compared to an overly pre-rotated quad. Especially when Anna scherbakova gets a higher GOE than mikhail kolyada's quad lutz 😂lol. Ultimately this will hurt ladies figure skating and soon we will be watching teenagers under 16 only.

@@liitbro uh ok not really. He's a 3 time Russian national champion (and they are nonconsecutive so hes been around for more than a minute, unlike some of the ladies). I wouldn't call that a painfully low rate of success, how many national championships have you won?? Overall I would love to see him be more consistent but it's not really his Lutz that is the issue, he just seems to get bogged down by pressure at (mostly) international events. I think he is doing alot better in this area with mishin, and a fall on any other element in the program takes absolutely nothing away from his beautiful technique and artistry on the Lutz. I'll say it again with the obvious stipulation that kolyadas quad Lutz is the best in the game (as long as he lands it, duh). I do also like hanyus and boyangs but I prefer the look of kolyadas best. I would take kolyadas true TRIPLE Lutz over lame small pre rotated quads any day (aka anna). Some of us value form above all else and his Lutz is effortless, floaty, gets insane air, and he has literal perfect technique. Cheating jump technique to achieve "consistency" is not a sport. Young athletes could stand to learn alot from kolyada about priorities in the sport of figure skating. Btw I'm rooting for Sasha in Beijing, amoung others, but talk about a consistency problem..... I would love to see her train with mishin or orser or somebody else who would slow her down and focus on technique. She got loads better on certain elements with plushenko. It's not all about quads, I'd rather not see them if they aren't executed properly.
