Paolo fromTOKYO Hey Paolo, I love your Tokyo guide videos.. the recent 101 things to do video was amazing! As for “away from Tokyo guides” I think a Kyoto or Osaka video would be great! Both places interest me and look amazing / beautiful for their own reasons. Thank you for the amazing Tokyo content, I can’t get enough of your videos!

Kyoto and Osaka for sure. Hakone would be a good one for the views.

I want to start by saying, I love your videos and I really support you and your channel. Im also married to a Filipino. But I want to share my thoughts about Nikko and this video. I am currently staying at the same hotel you did and spent 2 nights here (this is my 2nd night). This video is 4 years old so I want to keep this in mind as I leave my comment. I wish you shared more logistics about coming here and staying in this hotel. I arrived late in the day (7:30 pm) because I traveled from Nagano. You didn't mention that everything closes at 5 pm not just around the hotel area but in Nikko in general. Or that hours are so flexible that a place that says they are open can just not be. You also didn't talk about how you got around Nikko in your video. The hotel has restaurants but you have to arrange for dinner in advance. I have been using public transport and its important to tell people that trains and buses don't run often and are late in this area, that getting from the hotel to say the Nikko station where most things are takes an hour by train. Or how to get to Edo Wonderland, I took a bus that goes directly there from the train station. It seems like the best way to get around is by renting a car. The hotel itself is ok, its dated but the room I had was nice but dusty. If I had come here at the beginning of my trip (I have been to Tokyo, Fuji, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nagoya, Narai-juku) then my feelings about this hotel would be less disappointed. I feel like its a little too expensive for what you are getting. The same with the breakfast buffet, it was too expensive for what I got. There isn't wifi in the hotel except for the lobby, despite promising free wifi on their website and google maps. Also all the signs in the hotel are in japanese and the staff does speak a little bit of english. That isn't a big deal but something tourists should be aware of, because this video is meant to attract tourists to this area. (which has been successful because it attracted me and my husband) With that said, I want to add some positives. The view from our room is BEAUTIFUL. I appreciate the vending machines in the lobby. The onsen (public and private) are pretty good, a little dated and gritty. Again there isn't much to do around the hotel area, there is a lovely foot bridge but intense steps you need to go up or to go down with luggage. The only conbi is Lawsons and its half way between the hotel and the station. So that is a lot of walking too. The walk from the station to the hotel is 20 minutes which isn't a big deal but when its 7:30 and there are no taxi's, its very dark, and there are 6 flights of stairs to go down or up to cross a bridge to your room. It makes a difference. We left our hotel for the station around 10 am to go to Edo Wonderland, It didn't look much different during the day as it did at night. Hardly anything is open, a lot of the area around the hotel is actually abandoned. BUT...Edo Wonderland was AWESOME! Would do it again. The restaurant you ate at, was really good but they changed their menu a bit. I hope you take these as notes and not bad opinions. I have done other suggestions from other videos you have done and they were great. But I think its important for me to share my experience after taking tips from your videos. Hope you think about this in future travel videos.
