I remember my math teacher who also uses chalk to discuss. She has this ASMR-y low voice that was calm, soothing, if not a bit monotonous that seems to just sweep away mental cobwebs when she discusses her math lessons. Her way of writing the chalk was soft, with this rhythmic and even sound, and her writing was so even (all caps, but small readable fonts) that it was really soothing to the point that I could stare and listen to her for hours and hours lol

This video calms me and makes me so angry at the same time. The actual video is super relaxing, but growing up as a kid with the shittiest of school luck, I can tell you I was never able to grasp math on my own. From having 6 teachers (yes, six) getting pregnant mid year, tossing around substitutes, and more, I had to teach myself math quite painfully since elementary school. I am now mid way through college and finishing my last ever (hopefully) math course, lone behold - during a pandemic where I can't meet my professor in person and get some extra help. Its all online and I am yet again relying on myself and a textbook to understand the material. Of course this is so much more complicated for the average person to just "figure out", but man, I can't even really follow along. Makes me feel like I've failed myself.

Oddly enough we are in the same boat in regards to struggling with math for a long time. Try to focus on how beautiful math can be instead of being dead set on how much it sucks. I’ve always been into linguistics for example so when I realized math really is the cleanest and most truthful language that describes everything around us that helped me with my immersion into the subject
