The only thing we need to know about the China-Church relation is this: what is the secret deal between China and Church, and why is it secret.

John, two questions: 1) How come you didn't mention the pope's anti-LGBTQ+ slur and his subsequent apology for the slur? and 2) Are there any Baby Boomer (1946--1964) saints?

In regards to your first question, it’s probably because he records this show a day ahead; so that particular story may not have broken yet when he was recording this. He’ll probably talk about it next week though.

Looks like 2025 is the worst possible time to go to Rome. It will be excessively expensive, totally congested and full of all kinds to tourist traps. Take another year. Just the same aas going to Paris this year for the Olympics. Big cities like that are a problem even in normal times. At those special occasions its just too many people everywhere.

Oh yes, and in addition to the above, I can well imagine His Eminence whispering to His African Holiness that he fully agreed - it was probably him that reported Francis using the word "faggotry" to the meeting he had recently with the bishops😂😂😂😂

Cardinal Fernández looks like a Bond villain - I could EASILY imagine him stationed in his magnificent fortified Baroque archiepiscopal palace in silver buckled shoes - scarlet heels of course - silk stockings, gartered knee breeches, Kevlar lined waistcoat, immaculately tailored bullet proof frock coat and depicted in one scene tweaking off a pair of violet satin gloves in a very sinister and pointed manner which, unbeknownst to the hapless 007, are laced with botulinum. Perhaps in another scene, we might see him in his Pian uniform, with not just the gorgeously smart scarlet piping and matching buttonhole stitching and buttons, but some ingenious gadget in the pectoral cross and, in homage to Oddjob, lethal titanium internals to the zucchetto. Naturally also the cardinalatial ring would have a laser. At the denouement, we might see him in full blazing choir attire or cappa magna and golden mitre - a sort of modern day Richelieu or Francisco Loyola on steroids 😂😂😂 Come on people, tell me he doesn't have that 16th/17th century "look", that prelatial glint in his eye?!! Even the beauty spot on the chin❤The Church, as this gigantic, tentacular omnipotent Corporation always gives me a giggle which even the CCP and Americans can't dominate - a truly worthy adversary for James Bond, wouldn't you say??😏

Canonization is a corrupt process at this point. The Italians have the inside track, and most cohorts of the beatified/canonized include an Italian. For a very small country, they seem to get an outsize number of their countrymen past the scrutiny of the Devil’s Advocate. The cause discussed here is patently ridiculous.
@jstantongood54745 ай бұрын
60 million. Not small in Europe. And until the 18th century Italy had 5 times the population of France and 10 times the population of the UK . It is historical inertia. Parallel to why nearly every pope has been from the Italian peninsula in the last 600 years. There has been a recent push to canonise non European Saints.

Fiducia Supplicans does not bless same sex unions but people in same sex unions, i.e. not the union itself but the personsas individuals. Please stop saying that it blesses same sex unions as it creates more confiseion, spreads fake news, shows that you have not read the document or that you have not understood it properly.
@Jimboken15 ай бұрын
By my count the word 'couple' or 'couples' is used 11 times in Fiducia supplicans including in the heading of Part lll: "III. Blessings of Couples in Irregular Situations and of Couples of the Same Sex" Now explain the difference between 'couple' and 'union' for less self-important, less self-righteous and the less popesplainer types.

The word "anti" in antichrist does not mean someone who is going to be openly anti (against) Christ. That word "anti" in the original Bible language can actually mean "IN PLACE OF". So could the bible antichrist be someone who has actually put himself "in place of" Christ? Well, we have further Bible evidence to support this. In 1 John 2:18-19 it says that there were "many antichrists", who "WENT OUT FROM THE CHURCH". In other words, John is pointing to the fact that those "antichrists" were WITHIN THE CHURCH!! Not only that, but Paul in 2 Thess. 2:3-4 calls the man of sin the "son of perdition". Now there is only one other place in the Bible where the name "son of perdition" is used, and that is in John 17:12 talking about JUDAS! And what was Judas? A professing follower of Christ Jesus. Someone who deceived from WITHIN the "church". "The leader of the Catholic church is defined by the faith as the Vicar of Jesus Christ (and is accepted as such by believers). The Pope is considered the man on earth who TAKES THE PLACE of the Second Person of the omnipotent God of the Trinity." (John Paul II, Crossing the Threshold of Hope, p. 3, 1994). "ANTI" - Christ = "IN PLACE OF" Christ!
