Scott took French lessons (specifically the words of this song) in order to make it sound accurate, but his pronunciation in the verses (especially the second verse) isn't completely accurate. That being said, I was still very impressed given that he had never learned French before! Also, I think you should read the lyrics (translated for your convenience: lyrics.wikia.com/wiki/Stromae:Papaoutai/en ) and watch the original video of the song by Stromae. It's actually a really sad song about his dad. Basically, Stromae is complaining that his dad is never around, and his mom tells him that he's always busy with work. It's based on Stromae's life actually, because his dad died in the Rwandan genocide when he was very young, but his mom told him that he was always busy somewhere else. It might make you wanna dance if you don't know the lyrics, but it makes me tear up every time LOL. (Btw, Stromae himself plays the dad in the original music video, but the lyrics are from the perspective of the child.) Pentatonix's video is a response to the original video - I remember them saying in an interview that since the dad in the original video is so unresponsive, they decided to be dolls in their video as a way to entertain the kid. Anyway! I hope this was helpful and hopefully reading the lyrics gives you some insight into the meaning of the song!

Julianna wouldn’t be surprised that they did some in high school to since they were in choir back then. Choirs sing in all different languages including French and Scott Mitch and Kirstin all were in the Texas all state choir and would have sung music on that high a level.

Lindsay is a genius violinist who has really brought the violin into 21st century pop music! She was also a contestant on last year's Dancing With the Stars, where it turned out that she is also a terrific dancer! As for the French (I speak a little, took the class for four years in school, but that was like 45: years ago, so most of it is gone, but I suspect that Mitch knows French, since he loves Paris, but I also assume that Scott does it phonetically.

The French accent isn't 100 per cent perfect, but it is really solid for an American speaker. They're covering a song by a Belgian rapper named Stromae, so I couldn't say whether Scott really speaks French or just listened to the song really carefully to make sure he was getting the phonetics down. Check out the original song too, you might really like it as well.

If you don't know Lindsey, she loves both dance and violin, and as a performer wanted to find ways to combine both at the same time. I'd say "Master of Tides" is a good starting point since it was filmed live. Its crazy the amount of talent and passion she brings to all her projects.

Lindsey Sterling is a great violinist, i highly recommend her videos Arena, Radioactive and Roundtable Revival for reactions. She also came in 2nd place on last seasons DWTS (Dancing with the Stars), Those are other videos I recommend as in the video of her of her Paso Doble she danced with a pulled / separated muscle (her rib muscle separated from her rib bone) and she continued the season.

They got a vocal coach just to make sure their french was completely perfect. None of them knew any french. Scott just loved this artist. It's actually not that hard, I know all the words to this song and I don't know too much french. I just listened to their cover of it for about three hours straight.

Scott's French is perfect, up to his accept being spot-on. Lots of people are recommending you check out PTX's cover of "Radioactive" also featuring Lindsey Stirling, but that sort of makes me think you need to check out Lindsey Stirling herself and her own videos. Especially since you say, "I don't know who you are." You really need to know who she is. I especially recommend her videos for "Shatter Me," "Master of Tides," and her cover of the Skyrim theme featuring Peter Hollens (whom you have already reacted to at least once that I can recall).
