I tried making my own mold and deckle with wood today using a hammer and some skinny nails 😂 turned out terrible but I'm gonna try again. Cool video btw

A very helpful video! What was the size of the holes in the mesh? 2mm x 3 mm or bigger?

the mesh holes are around 1.5mm x 1.5mm. if the mesh holes are too big, the paper will have rough feeling.

hello! papermaking artist here, I was wondering, in your opinion whats the best way to make a large deckle (in terms of measurements specifically) Using this technique in the video, is it possible to make say a 20x20 inch deckle? Im interested in doing a large scale paper installation piece.

Chelsea Stewart, Hi there. if you don't need to make thick stock, it should be fine. If the size is big and thick, the mesh on the deckle requires much stronger tension than mine. Because when we pull the deckle out of the water, the weight will concentrate in the center, and the water will flow to the middle before dropping down that will cause the paper thinner in the center. @@andreasvasiliou6453The inner size of the big one is round 9x12 inches. and the small is 5.5 x7.5 inches. I left some room for cutting off the rough edges. So I can choose to leave the rough edges or cut the finished paper down to 8.5x11, 8x10, 5x7 or 4x6 with clean edges.
