Plus, it still has the same charm as the first two games, and it arguably even has the best story. (In that aspect, it's at least on par with The Thousand-Year Door.) They give a good amount of plot and character development, especially for Peach and Bowser who tend to just be kidnapper and "kidnappee", also the different bosses. I loved Paper Mario as a kid! My Dad, Grandad, and cousins went to Washington DC one summer in an RV we used to have. We went to an RV park, and we ended up making friends with the RV next to us. At this age, I fell in love with Mario games and the Wii, cause they were what brought me into the gaming world. So, when our new friends had a Wii with Paper Mario, I wouldn't stop playing. Isn't that what Jirard is talking about? The stories being told (which is actually a kirby story) then Bowser sort of inserts himself into it? He does mention that it's a difference universe, and the Star Sages(?) art style is definitely reminiscent of Kirby.

Paper Mario is actualy the only game I ever 100%ed. I was spending some time (a few weeks) at my grandma's house out of state and the only game that was there happened to be Paper Mario. I'd payed a bit of it before, but I used my spare time to work through the entire game and, after many, many visits to the fortune teller, I completed the game. Currently working on 100%ing the thousand year door and am not looking foreward to the grind-o-thon that is the pit of 100 trials.

Paper Mario being a Mario clone would make about as much sense as Ganondorf being a Captain Falcon clone. Meaning it could happen but it shouldn't because it's bullshit. That said, Waluigi should be playable before Paper Mario.

While my friends at the time were starting to move on to the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube, I was fortunate to have this game for my N64 and it was my first non-Pokemon RPG I played. I owe a lot to Paper Mario for getting me past Pokemon and on to other RPGs.
