Personally, I believe gameplay is the most important part of a game. A game with good graphics means nothing if it’s boring to play. Take Sonic Forces for instance, it’s widely received as a bad game but it has some pretty good music. Color Splash has good music too (and graphics) and yet it’s one of my least favorite games of all time. I (and I assume many others) associate music in games with memories of the game. If a game was fun to play, I’ll remember certain soundtracks and get nostalgic over them. With Color Splash and Sticker Star, my displeasure with the games have caused me to be a bit bitter when listening to the music even though they’re objectively good tracks

Alexander Muniz Mainly because there wasn’t really any point of battling other than collecting special stickers from specific enemies and the only stat that is actually strengthened was HP but you get that from finding hidden +5 hearts

@@alexandermuniz2039 Combat only gave you stickers and coins, both of which were pretty much only used in combat. And since bosses can be cheesed with Thing stickers, getting into fights was entirely pointless and a waste of time. Levels had a nice art style, but ended up being pretty bland since it just reused standard the Mario World forest, desert, snow etc themes, without adding enough to make them stand out. Basically no characters besides Toads. ^ This is why people don't like Sticker Star

This is a great track and I would like a unique variant for each region. It would help make it less monotonous as the game goes on. One thing I'd love to see though is a lyrical track. Like how they made Jump Up Superstar for Odyssey, have something whipped up for Origami King.

I think what it means based off different tracks is that all of the battles are going to play the same rendition of the song, but with different instruments and tones to it. In a video where Mario uses the Origami koopa to attack some Origami crabs, you can hear the same song but with a different tone, kinda giving off a Japanese vibe to it, which I think would be that specific song for that specific streamer region.

Ok i came back to provide some info that the battle songs in each region is the same song but with different instruments. It's not a fact just that someone posted a link to a video of the latest trailer for this game (the second one) without the guy talking. The video is one minute long and at the last 10 seconds we could here the battle theme that i think is from the desert region and the part you can hear is the same part in the red ribbon region. The part i am talking about starts at 1:28 to 1:38. It's still hard to tell if there will be different normal battle themes butmore or less it's gnna be the same song. But if they make the same song catchy in each region I'll be fine with it.

isaiahock 13 I swear this is so true. Who knew the debatably the best game in the series has the worst fans. Lots of TTYD fans are very toxic and it’s annoying, we get it the combat isn’t the same but that’s not what paper Mario is ONLY about. The characters, unique environments, funny dialogue, partners (both overworld and gameplay wise) and beautiful story. That’s paper Mario for me. Origami king isn’t TTYD, but who cares, it looks VERY good and maybe great, my only concern is the story, I really hope it’s great. I want them to explore king Olly’s backstory with Olivia and how he became evil.

From the moment I heard the origami king’s battle theme, I was sold. I’m still a bit anxious about how they’ll treat experience, but that music just pulled me right in. It just has a beat that the previous ones lacked for me. So yeah, Origami at the top for me, without a doubt. It kinda felt like the odd one out compared to all the others, which isn't always a bad thing, but in this case it felt like it. The others just make me more amped for battle, whereas this one just didn't quite do the trick. 5. Color Splash. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the jazzy feel of this one. It's very close to being #4. The only thing that ruins it for me is the beginning, I don't quite know what the instrument is, but it feels rather out of place. Maybe it's just me. Idk. Still an enjoyable song though. 4. Very close to being tied with Color Splash. The only two things that put this one on top is the point I made before and the fact that it feels more upbeat. As many people have said, at least Nintendo got this part of the game right. 3. Oragami King. Of course, I have yet to play the actual game yet, and considering there will be more than one battle theme for this game, I could easily put this on top in the future. However, for now, this is still a great song as is. Perfect for getting me excited for battle. One of my favorite parts is the flute that's close to the end. It just hits the eardrums right. 2. Paper Mario. Man, for me, nothing can beat the original. Personally, whenever I think of this song, I imagine the little jingle that plays when you make the first strike, and then the battle theme begins. I have no idea why, but that's one of my favorite parts. The song itself simply makes me smile, it's such an uplifting tune that can get you out of your seat. Or it can just get you to battle more enemies. Whatever suits you. (And yes, I know this one is also kind of an odd one out, but it still has the same personality as the modern Paper Mario battle themes, imo. 1. Super Paper Mario. Hands down, best song I've ever heard. Play it at my funeral.

An EXP System is a baseline to get the player to do random encounters and scale difficulty. Not having an EXP system itself wouldn't ruin the format. It didn't work in previous titles because the removal of EXP left no reason to do the random encounters, especially since those cost cards and it made more since to just save them for required battles.
