Quite true you don't see a lot of heavy story or tragic tones in Mario games nowadays. Though I feel another tear jerking Mario game was Mario Galaxy, what with Rosalina's backstory and the hundreds of lumas sacrificing themselves to stop the giant black hole near the end of the game, and overall it was a very good-feel game with great epic orchestrated tunes. Really wish there was more depth like those certain special moments in today's Mario.

I only have one problem with TTYD: how completely overrated it is compared to the first one. Like holy crap, the first one NEVER gets any love nowadays. It's always "TTYD this" and "TTYD that" nothing is ever said about the first one. If I didn't know any better, TTYD is the only decent Paper Mario game out there. When people want another true Paper Mario RPG, they say "TTYD2", whenever people talk about characters, it's always from TTYD. Hell I've seen people give TTYD credit to things that the first game did, well, first. Like, c'mon guys, I know TTYD is generally considered the better game, but at least give credit to the game that spawned it.

It's the same problem as the Smash Bros series. Melee was superior to the original in every way, so the original gets no credit for anything, ever.

Magical Mushroom Well, you are really underestimating how much credit the first Paper Mario game actually gets, considering how often I see how much people want the next PM to be like the "first two", implying the first PM is one of those "first two" In terms of Smash Bros, however, that is because there is hardly any reason to come back to the original at all other than maybe historical curiosity. There's one single player mode that's an unrandomized Classic mode, so few characters in comparison, and there's not much of a balance between them.

Paper Mario 64 a classic but an absolute goodie lay the pathway for what would come. Paper Mario the Thousand-Year Door expands on the original in every way possible and does it 10 times better it's like Earthbound in the way that it handles much more mature themes with just a dash of humor every chapter is themed around some type of well theme from the first chapter being a straight-up fairytale to there being a mystery train chapter and a mystery behind a fun phenomenon a chapter that's literally a race war and quite possibly the darkest chapter in all of Paper Mario with very eerie setting and characters that definitely distinguish itself from the rest of the game. Super Paper Mario wall a different Paper Mario game still takes what its predecessors did and drives it maybe not home but definitely does it well though it's not an RPG with RPG like battles it still has a leveling up system the quirky characters in chapters that we all love and a bunch of different side quests that you can do after the game it has a lot of polish on it and even though it's a different Paper Mario game it still has its own identity and works off of its predecessors. Paper Mario sticker Star by far the most disliked game by fans it tries to bring back with the Paper Mario series was known for whippets RPG elements unlike Super Paper Mario but it doesn't quite hit the bar and really forgets what the Paper Mario series was there's no more quirky characters with theme chapters and different side activities instead they went for a different route and focused on Main Mario characters for the bosses aren't any sort of different race or thing that we've never heard of instead they are well just Mario characters the plot is no pun intended paper thin and the battle system is lacking severely you do have a partner but it's less of a partner from Paper Mario and more of a Navi from Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time it's still try to Encompass some of that Paper Mario charm but it doesn't quite do it well and through this game comes The Paper Mario series forgetting what made it what it was. Paper Mario color splash the Wii U is out and this game tries to Encompass once again what Paper Mario sticker star was lacking but still with rolling with the theming of real life things it does better than its predecessor from 3DS but still doesn't quite get it right and brings in a different type of combat system using cards that require paint and have another sort of Kersti partner named Huey is definitely better than Sticker Stars partner but still doesn't a compass what it means to be a partner in Paper Mario the game throws a lot of charm and wit which is something the Paper Mario series is known for and while it's a step in the right direction still doesn't completely satisfy old fans and bring them back to the series however it definitely makes its own identity and expands on a poor system from the previous game. Enter origami King the Nintendo switch Paper Mario game that was announced just a few weeks ago a game that looks like it's going back to form but taking aspects from every Paper Mario game bringing back the partner systems and what looks to be theme from the original Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door with a ring like system which we don't know enough about to really call yet the story definitely seems like it will have more to do with the kingdom and characters than being again pun intended so paper thin like sticker star and that Bowser will go back to being more of a helpful and Charming side character then being the main villain of the games we definitely can't call heads or tails on this yet but this looks like the closest return to form that the Paper Mario Series has seen since Super Paper Mario All I can hope is that they really knocked it out of the park on this one and bring the fans back this is definitely going to be a double-edged sword bringing back the items from the games but treating them list of items and more as enemies and bosses now may help it and bringing back the partner system definitely has fans up on the edge of their seats will it be an atrocious flop or will it be a return to form that fans have been waiting for for years for now we just have to wait cross our fingers grit our teeth and Hope.

I really do like this game. Though to be honest, I'm not really nuts over this game like a lot of people are, I personally prefer the Mario & Luigi games over the Paper Mario games, but I really like this game for what it is. It's certainly one of the best games on the GameCube.

Honestly, no XP's better than having to grind for several, painful hours just to move up a level. The combat's clever, using certain stickers with certain enemies is one of it's best features, other than it's powerful bosses, requiring skill, things, and an overall knowledge of the game.

You know what I wanna see? A Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi fusion game. Not a crossover, a fusion. Something along the lines of "Paper Mario and Luigi," with the battle mechanics of the M&L franchise mixed with the incredible and unique settings and characters from the (old) Paper Mario games.
