14:14 This moment sent chills up my spine the first time I got to here. The big reveal, the music, the suspense, it was perfect. And what's even crazier is that TEC willingly bypassing his restrictions via a loophole in his programming. He can't *directly* tell Peach what the X-Naut's plans are, but he *can* help guide her to the right answer, because that technically isn't him telling her, it's her figuring it out with a 'slight nudge'. Even knowing the risks (and you KNOW he does because he's a computer and knows everything all the time), TEC chooses to do this for her. If he can feel emotions, he's probably feeling two things right now: Pride in his bravery And fear of what's to come.

Had you found that shady guy and paid enough coins to get all the lore of the Thousand Year Door, this portion with TEC goes over what Peach has learned so far and confirms the truth of the legends we as the players already had learned if we were curious enough to find it. TEC having became attached to Princess Peach has began to truly deviate from programming willfully tells Peach of Grodus's plans and in turn letting Mario know of the kind of foe he and his companions are facing.

Kind of a mixed chapter for me overall; the twist in the middle is genuinely genius and Vivian's character arc absolutely rocks but I do think it's noticeably shorter than the rest of the chapters in the game. I think cutting out the backtracking is a good idea, but by that point there isn't very much left in the way of actual content. Either way, we're moving onto Chapter 5 now!

I am thankful for the QOL update the pipe brings to this chapter. The five total treks between Creepy Steeple and Twilight Town, shortened to three by this pipe, were glorified “padding” from the first. It doesn’t feel too much shorter to me at all. And getting the Ruby Star for real at the end makes it all the sweeter. By contrast, the Peach and Bowser vignettes feel extra short here. Hooray, someone else wants to see Kammy Koopa “shaking what her mama gave her! I thought I was the only one. Thanks Masae for helping me feel validated.

Quite the eventful end to this chapter. Mario regains his name and body (and is due for a lot of apologies from his partners and the Twilighters for not realizing Doopliss wasn’t him), and Vivian joins the party for real. Glad to have you, girl. =) This Peach interlude may also be the best so far, as TEC is clever enough to exploit a loophole and allow Peach to learn the true nature of the Thousand-Year Door’s treasure without telling her outright. But poor Bowser. He wanted to take a break and enjoy Glitzville, and ended up swimming all the way back to Rogueport, while Kammy had a blast. I do like how the remake added this ‘down on his luck’ version of Bowser’s theme to better accompany his situation, lol

On the topic of Bowser's platforming segments, he actually says something different each time you restart the level. I don't recall how many unique lines of dialogue he has, as I've never tried to find all of them intentionally, but after a while, Bowser starts to get really annoyed from not making any progress.

Fun fact: In this version, if you manage to drop Doopliss’ HP down to 0 before Vivian comes to help (likely with a Danger/Peril Build), Doopliss will get back up, with a Life Mushroom of all things! This was added because, in the original version, if you managed to beat Doopliss before Vivian shows up, it made no sense for her to be there after the battle.

The Impostor Mario/Doopliss fight isn't too hard overall, but Goombella's multibonk attack is one of the more threatening boss attacks so far if you can't time the super guard right. It makes me feel strangely proud of her, even while she's being tricked to fight you.

What I like doing in this fight is taking out the partners. They give 0 star points, but, it's for dialogue. Fun Fact: Goombella is always programmed to have Multibonk, regardless if she is Super Rank. Also, get this: AI Controlled Goombella always gets the Multibonk timing basically perfectly. While the player has to perfectly time it after bonk 4. Here is all the partner dialogue: Goombella- Mario... I totally failed you... Koops- Aw, Mario... Sorry... Flurrie- Mario, dear! Forgive me... Yoshi- Gonzales! Avenge me... Finally, here is what "Mario" will say when they fall. "Mario"/ Doopliss- Ugh... Also, Doopliss has a Life Shroom in case you beat him before Vivian rejoins the fight with you. I'm just calling the Yoshi Partner "Yoshi" to be generic, because everyone has a different Yoshi name. I named mine *Yusuke* after Yusuke Kitagawa from Persona 5, the artist boy.

I call fowl! Dooplus should have only 10 HP! if he is using your body he should have all of your stats and you never upgraded HP so he shouldn't have ether.

By far the most difficult thing about fighting Doopliss is getting used to the timing of blocking your own attacks; other than that, he is actually pretty straightforward (he doesn't even have as much HP as Macho Grubba). Don't bother attacking your partners, not just because it feels kind of bad to do so, but also because Doopliss will keep swapping them out sequentially when they faint (when Goombella faints, he swaps to Koops, then Koops to Flurrie, and Flurrie to Yoshi).
