Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a 2004 role-playing video game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the GameCube. The Thousand-Year Door is the second game in the Paper Mario series following Paper Mario, and is part of the larger Mario franchise. In the game, when Mario and Princess Peach get involved in the search for a mystic treasure that holds great fortune, Peach is kidnapped by an alien group called the X-Nauts; Mario sets out to find the treasure and save the princess.
The Thousand-Year Door borrows many gameplay elements from its predecessor, such as a drawing-based art style, and a turn-based battle system emphasizing correctly timing moves. For most of the game, the player controls Mario, although Bowser and Princess Peach are playable at certain points between chapters. The game was announced at the 2003 Game Developers Conference, and was released late July 2004 in Japan and late 2004 worldwide.
The Thousand-Year Door was acclaimed at release and is since considered one of the greatest video games of all time. It won the "Role Playing Game of the Year" award at the 2005 Interactive Achievement Awards, and is often considered the best game in the series. A remake was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2024. The game was followed by Super Paper Mario, which was released for the Wii in 2007.

I'm disturbed by how casually Peach makes the decision to strip arse naked. In the original game, she at least protests a bit before deciding that she doesn't really have a choice. And yes, the start-up for Grodus' computer is the start-up for the Famicom Disk System

Small detail: if you listen closely, Peach's footsteps are different when she's invisible because she isn't wearing her usual heels. Nice attention to detail, alongside the stuff with the carpet thing you mentioned.

In the previous Paper Mario, Peach had to bake a cake to get info for Mario. This time, she's brewing potions to get info for TEC. It's still amazing that they managed to get away with Peach essentially running through the X-Naut hideout naked, even if she was invisible, but at least they tweaked the dialogue so that she willingly did so rather than being forced to. And then we get another great Bowser interlude as the Koopa Troop and the X-Nauts encounter each other properly for the first time. It would've made for quite a clash if the Superbombomb hadn't muddled things up. Also, I notice how Crump said Beldam told him she dropped the Superbombomb, the very thing she blamed Vivian for. That says she's perfectly aware of her own mistakes, but just sadistically enjoys making Vivian her scapegoat. Old hag...

The funny thing people aren't realizing about the Shadow Sirens is they're a representation of Hecate.. you have Vivian as the maiden, Marilyn as the mother, and Beldam as the crone. In that representation, a classic thing is to have the crone always picking on and bullying the maiden. The mother is usually pretty silent. The whole bit about people saying Vivian is trans actually isn't the intention as there's never been confirmation whatsoever from the creator. Something they'd usually confirm at this point. The intention behind the lines people make a fuss about is that Beldam had gaslit Vivian into thinking she's not a girl. That's why she says right after that their usual bullying feels heavier. It wasn't until a few years ago people were fishing so much that they made it a trans thing. As for her descriptions used other places, they're part of Mario's journal.. so they use what Mario would think based on things Beldam has said. Now don't get me wrong, the trans thing could be true, but considering there's never been actual confirmation from the creator and only translation things, it stands to reason that it's not actually true, but they can't say that at this point because of the amount of backlash it'd have. The reason I bring this up is because you're correct that Beldam is just an old hag that bullies Vivian and even Marilyn but to a lesser extent. Which is again part of the whole Hecate representation typically.

If I remember right from the original, the potion making has a few mistake results; making Peach tiny, making her big, or giving her Mario's mustache are the ones I remember

I wouldn't know in regards to TTYD, but in Super Paper Mario I recall that Peach could get a mustache or grow big if you give Peach the wrong fruit in Chapter 7.

TEC basically becoming suspicious of Grodus's motive for keeping Peach alive decides to do something daring by stealing private data from Grodus's office through Peach. No doubt it's only a matter of time before the X-nauts who are in charge of managing the servers take notice of that act and tell Grodus he's been acting against him. I also wonder when Grodus will eventually realize he doesn't need to have all seven of the Crystal Stars himself when he can just have Mario get the last one for him and then ambush them at the Thousand Year Door?

So the "Data Disc" Is actually a disc from the Famicom Disc System that was only released in Japan. Likewise, the animation which plays when you put the Data Disk in is, I believe, the boot menu of the Famicom Disc System
