I visited Australia many years ago. I loved the people. Everyone was so helpful and kind. I was a newlywed at the time and my poor husband didn’t realize I was into these things. Fifty years later, he’s given up. You’re wonderful.

How wonderful. (P.S. you are a ray of sunshine...has anyone ever told you that? I bet they have. :) )

Just chiming in -- in the spirit of good fun. This is obviously not for everyone. I am grateful for all the great MSQC videos that have essentially taught me how to quilt. Good video! When I learned how to paper piece many years ago we didn’t use glue. We folded over the paper and based it. Glue came in years later. I still enjoy making Grandmother’s Flower Garden, it was is called. Don’t know about a colored glue. Clear or white would be my choice for glue sticks. Happy quilting 💕👍. Oh, I have ironed my fabric over freezer paper also. Stays nice 😊

Another great tutorial. I love EPP and have made a number of small projects using this method. I taught my Mum and daughter this method and each have made several quilts which I then quilted on my longarm. Although I started with pencil, ruler, scissors, needle and thread (my first quilt took 18 months), I now use a fabric die cutting machine and sewing machine to quilt. I'm having a hip replacement in a fortnight, and I'm planning on doing some EPP in hospital and whilst I'm recuperating. I'm cutting the fabric hexies with a die and buying the templates ready cut ( I know, lazy or what?). Unfortunately I always seem to get in a mess with glue, so I'm still going to hand stitch. I've seen EPP done without stitching through the template, just a couple of backstitches at each 120' angle. The templates are then carefully removed and the stitches left in for stability. I'm really looking forward to my new project!

What a great project for you while you recover, Linda. I'd call that convenience, not laziness! There are so many helpful tools for quilting nowadays. Best of luck with your surgery!
@lindafriend93928 жыл бұрын
Missouri Star Quilt Company my surgery went brilliantly well, I'm walking with one stick, I'm off painkillers and I've made 500 hexies so far with plenty of fabric left to make more😁. If anyone is watching from the UK, I found The Bottom Line 60wt polyester by Libby Lehman / Superior Threads online at Quilt Direct - they've got a great range of colours. I'm currently using Taupe 617, a nice grungy colour which just disappears into the fabric. I never thought I'd try EPP but it's very relaxing - thanks for putting this series on KZbin, it's really whetted my appetite 👍

fiskars Hexie x-L SQueeze Punch are great to recycle all your junk mail postcard type paper into hundreds of hexies. Five-Inch square Charm packs can be cut easily into 2 1/2 squares. 1 five-inch charm will make 4 squares to cover 4 hexie shapes. You can trim the corners later, after basting hexie shape. ALSO, if you punch a small circular hole or HEART in the center of the punched paper/recycled postcards it will help easily release the paper/recycled postcard when it's times to pull out the hexie paper template with a small cuticle type stick to reuse hexie paper template again.

Are you sewing the pieces together with just one strand of thread, or with two? This is great, thank you both.
@Carlottax76 жыл бұрын
I neverr knot when doing EPP - I just back sew. Maybe I will try this method out! I do like that Knicker knot. I also baste my pieces rather than glue as I like to stick to the traditional methods - I also design my own pieces and cut them out so it's all a bit time consuming! Slow is sometimes good though - even when you have limited spare time to sew, like I do:)
